The entire nation weeps after another senseless tragedy due to gun violence occurred. As medical providers, we are mandated to report suspected child abuse, and in many states, spousal abuse. We should be mandated to report to a National Data Bank that an individual we deem mentally unstable or at risk, should not be allowed to purchase a gun. When gun shops consult the data base, they will see the person's name on the "Disallow Purchase" list and refrain from making the sale.

As a law abiding person in possession of a permit to carry a concealed weapon, I fear the outcome if Washington makes things any harder for those of us who want to do the right thing, just because of a few law breaking crazies

I just read the quote popularly attributed to Morgan Freeman regarding all these senseless shootings. Whoever said this -- Morgan Freeman or someone else -- may very well be on to something. How about if the media stops reporting the identity of these terrorists? No names, no photos, nothing. It would be a very interesting experiment. And, really, does any of us even care about knowing these disturbed individuals' names or seeing their photos? Would it leave a void in your life to NOT have that information? Does hearing their names or seeing their photos enrich your life in any way? I don't want any more innocent people -- especially children! -- terrorized, injured, and murdered at the hands of someone who will do anything to go down in infamy as a household name.

Gun control does not work. Children need loving home environments and school environments to teach them to be kind to one another, and that violence does not work. Stop the violent TV programs and video games to begin with. Guns don't kill people, people do, and if they did not have guns, they would use knives, clubs, their hands or whatever else they can find. An armed populace has prevented many crimes and the right to bear arms is essential in a free country.

Live close to newtown and don't understand need for guns in households

It has been a long-standing problem at La Trobe University that Socialist Alternative have been permitted to continue their aggressive and obnoxious activism on campus. This interferes with students' freedom to travel across campus without being accosted and harassed. It is time La Trobe students make their voice heard, let La Trobe University know that we want the Socialist Alternative banned.

Our human family is heartbroken over the Connecticut shootings. Another mentally ill person goes untreated and becomes a mentally ill mass murder, meanwhile funding for mental health programs are cut across the nation. TREATMENT FOR MENTAL ILLNESS SHOULD BE AS EASY TO GET AS GUNS.

Making the case that Military, and Civilian weapons need to be clear to the the public. That Weapons need locks pre-installed. That everyone who buys must be logged in a database. Put an end to Gun Shows unless Gun Shows sell "only" guns, and not AK-47 or M-16 type weapons. Must have I.D. and Background Check to get any weapon.

To uphold our constitutional right to bear arms, we recognize the need for improved mental health care, and the responsible use and ownership of weapons of mass destruction.

After all the shooting schools have been through during these last years & especially the most recent school of Sandy Hook Elementary School it is a desperate need to be able to cover all of our children by allowing prayer back in our schools!
