• Choose Lives Over Guns
We need to control the spread of guns and easy access to automatic weapons. Given that there is really no justification for an average person to own and use a military grade weapon and the fact that such weapons continue to be used in tragedies such as the Connecticut massacre, we need to change the Constitution now before it destroys more lives.

  • Kentucky Lawmakers: The Time For Medical Marijuana is Now
In a day an age where 29 states and Washington, D.C. have legislation allowing medical marijuana, and the Federal Government is on the verge of changing its outlook on it, Kentucky is behind the curve. Most of Kentucky's elected officials have yet to take positive steps toward helping terminally ill citizens get the medicine they need. Their only other choices as of now are addictive narcotics that do more harm then good.

  • Regulate gun ownership
We have just witnessed yet another horrific instance of the killing of young children and adults, this time in Newton, Connecticut. My heart is broken for the innocent victims and their families. We need to take action now to prevent mass killing and to reduce all killing.

  • Stop talking about the shooters!
I'm asking the news outlets and online forums to please stop releasing the names of shooters in massacres like the one at Sandy Hook Elementary. The news media refrains from mentioning victims of certain crimes to protect them and their families. We need them to stop giving out the names of those who shoot multiple people to protect us all. If people with mental health issues, anger, and a desire for fame cannot get their names remembered in this way, maybe they will look for a better outlet. And we should remember the victims of these horrible tragedies, not the shooters.

  • Call for a Nationally Televised Symposium on Global Warming & the Need to Green Our Economy ASAP
Global pollution/warming is a threat to every person on the planet. A nationally televised symposium in early 2013, hopefully January to educate the public about this threat could rally the public and Congress behind its solution: a Green Recovery that the President would call for in his State of the Union Address, * Which will put America back to work by creating millions of new green, clean jobs * Which will make us more competitive in the next global growth industries of clean tech, clean energy and green chemistry * Will make continually cleaner and healthier millions of regular jobs, homes and workplaces * Will lower healthcare costs naturally with continually healthier air, water, food, homes, jobs and workplaces * Will help clean up America by continually reducing pollution and warming and if America leads The Human Race for a Healthy Planet, the world will join us!

  • Reducing violence with better access to mental health services
As a mental health professional, I see all too often individuals and families struggle to live balanced lives because our health care system is lacking in this area. They don't have insurance, funding runs out, or services are not covered on the plans they can afford. I keep hearing people say gun control is the answer, but I believe it's not the only piece of the puzzle we need to consider with regards to the violence we have seen in the past several years.

  • Automatic Weapons Ban in Colorado
Automatic and semi-automatic weapons were created for combat. They were created for the purpose of killing as many people as possible in the shortest ammount of time. There is no place for them outside of war. They are not needed for hunting. They are not needed for self defense in your home. They are being used in massacres across the country because they can be very easily acquired. Imagine a 5 year old sitting in a classroom trying to learn to read and instead being blown to pieces with an assault rifle. And then sign this petition. One week from today I will send it to Gov. Hickenlooper. We have to start somewhere.
