  • Ban semi-automatic weapons
    The entire country is in mourning because semi-automatic weapons were used to gun down many innocent people in a matter of seconds at the elementary school in Newtown, CT. The general public does not need these types of weapons to defend themselves or for hunting. At least pulling the trigger each time you want to fire a weapon might just save lives by giving others a chance to run or take cover. So people, are you with me on this?

    Make gun ownership the same as getting a drivers license. The police will test you on gun safety ,and a psychologist will test for emotional stability. It won't prevent all crime, but it will make everyone aware of their resonsibility to their fellow man. Make this retroactive to current gun owners as well. If you have a gun, you must have a license to possess it.

    The recent events in schools, shopping centers, public assemblies have once again shown that there needs to be a significant NATIONAL reigning in on the sale and possession of assault weapons AND the amount of munitions an individual may purchase. This is not about hunting or personal safety. It is about weapons that should be limited to combat situations: rapid fire, repeating fire assault weapons.

    We need to stop future tragedies like the one that happened in Newton, Connecticut. We, the people have had enough of senseless violence involving guns! Sign this petition to start the amendment process to change the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to reflect the needs of the modern age. The Second Amendment was designed at a time when militias were needed to protect against tyrannical governments, not to protect individuals from criminal action. We want to keep weapons designed for hunting animals and outlaw all weapons designed with the sole intent to kill other human beings.
