It's time for the people to clarify that the Second Amendment only guarantees the right of the people to bear arms in a "well regulated militia", and that mere individuals are not a "well regulated militia".

As the parent of a six-year-old first grader, after yesterday's trajedy in Newtown, Conn., I can't sit idly by and wait for our gun lobbyist-funded government to act responsibly. Congress should enact a 100% tax on all gun and ammunition purchases, effective immediately. The revenues generated ($6 billion annually) could be used to fund free mental health clinics.

their has to be a better way for people to live other from shelter to shelter and going in and out of shelters--the city gives a program for people to get an apt for two years then the people end up back in shelters the city will pay $1800.00 a week to house a family of 3 or more in a shelter but won't pay that much a month to house a family in a perment apt/house..

Since most of our citizens have had hard times in the past few years, I think it's high time for our so called leaders to take cuts like WE have! It will not only help our overburdened budget but also might restore our faith in them.

We should start with better background checks. No loopholes. This latest shooter had his arms legally. This is why a total ban would really change things.

As a friend and family member of rape victims I know firsthand the lifelong trauma rape engenders. Judge Derek G. Johnson is a disgrace to both the judiciary and humanity for his rulings literally in sympathy with rapists over their victims. He needs to step down or be removed.

Therefore, for products like juice, each day the product is in transit, and each day it remains on a store shelf before purchase, it is losing nutritional value. However, Nutritional Fact labeling does not reflect this reality: "Compliance with the nutrition labeling regulations is based on the date the product was labeled, not the date the product is offered for entry into interstate commerce." from the Nutritional Labeling and Education Act (NLEA) Requirements (8/94 - 2/95) This being the case, labels should include a disclaimer, such as: "This product will retain at least 95% of the listed nutritional values until the 'use by' date," or something similar. This way consumers will understand that these nutritional values are not static numbers, and that the products they buy may have a reduced nutritional value if they consume them after the 'use by' date.

We have now spent decades ducking the most serious issues facing our country and world. They include health, economy, jobs, taxes, election fairness and financing, gun control, "us-vs.-them" politics, labor, limits to states power and climate change. We need active vision and leadership to replace self-serving, short-sighted behavior.
