Republicans need to compromise! We elected President Obama because he has everyone's best interest at heart, now let him lead us to a more humane and prosperous existence.

The nation voted for the ideas presented by President Obama concerning the preservation of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, without cuts. The winning vote also included a plan to end the Bush tax cuts for the richest 2% of Americans. Although Kansas is a red state, many of us believe strongly that cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security should NOT finance tax cuts for the wealthy. Our congressman should represent us, too.

The American people have been disenfranchised by both parties. In the past election Democrats received more than a million more votes for house seats than Republicans, but Republicans hold a majority in the House. The House is the People's House but the people's will is not expressed in the House of Representatives. This and voter suppression are killing our democracy. All allocations for federal, state and local offices has to be done by a nonpartisan committee using computer models of approximately equal geographic area and equal population density!

Eliminate fraud and overspendimg on health care.

American citizens who are adopted are denied their civil and human rights by having an amended birth certificate and not having access to their original birth certificate. Their own search for their identity is denied. The need for their original birth certificate involves medical information and more.

Magazines that target tween girls have an obligation to ensure the images they present are positive, balanced and honest. According to the 2010 US Census Bureau, approximately 5.2 million children under the age of 15 have a disability. American Girl and Discovery Girl magazines need to increase representation of girls with disabilties not just as a 'special feature'-but as part of every issue.

Republicans made a pledge to Grover Norquist to never raise taxes and are holding the country hostage. They want to raise the age for medicare to 67! As baby boomers, let's pledge to never vote republican again if they make any changes to medicare or social security.

Let's stop gutting Social Security, Medicare, and other necessary programs in an attempt to balance the budget. Keep taxpayer money in the United States until we get out of debt by ending government giveaways to foreign countries at taxpayer expense.

This morning the New York Post ran a cover photo of Queens father Ki Suk Han that was both shocking and sad. The photo showed Mr. Han standing on the subway tracks seconds before he was killed by an oncoming train. The photo ran under the horrifying headline "This Man is About to Die." Not only was this image disturbing and frightening, but it showed an extreme lack of respect for Mr. Han's family and loved ones. Should Mr. Han's children have to see this image plastered on newsstands and across the internet? While the NY Post and its editor, Col Allan, have a history of tasteless cover images, this image is so inappropriate as to require action. Please join me in letting The Post know your disgust at this type of shock journalism. Pledge to boycott next week’s issues of the NY Post, unless all proceeds of today's newspaper are donated to the family of Mr. Han. The New York Post making money off such a tragedy is appalling and inexcusable, and we need to let them know.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced that he joined the steering committee of “Fix The Debt.” This is a group of corporate CEO’s who are pushing to balance the budget on the backs of middle and working class Americans. Mayor Villaraigosa should immediately resign from the organization. Fix The Debt’s plan includes major cuts to Social Security and Medicare while cutting taxes for millionaires and billionaires. This approach is not balanced and it is unfair to people like me. Expecting us to give up essential portions of our social safety net to give the wealthiest more tax breaks is wrong. As somebody who volunteered and knocked on doors to help elect for Mayor Villaraigosa, I feel disappointed and betrayed. As former chair of the Democratic National Convention, it is inappropriate that Villaraigosa use his position to help this corporate backed group gut Social Security and Medicare, which many of us will need someday.
