  • No More Pelvic Exams On Anesthetized Women Without Consent
Most medical school faculty and students don’t talk about it publicly, and affected patients are unaware this is happening, because they are under anesthesia. It is disturbing to know that by consenting to surgery, women risk having someone literally in their vagina without consent for purposes that benefit only the providers, and not them. A survey at the University of Oklahoma in 2005 found that a large majority of medical students had given pelvic exams to gynecologic surgery patients who were under anesthesia, and that in nearly three quarters of these cases the women had not consented to the exam. As bioethicist Arthur Caplan describes, “Sometimes, more than one student will practice the exam, with many sets of gloved fingers in the patient’s vagina without their knowledge.”

  • Doordash charges customers extra for a gas bonus they no longer pay to drivers.
While it might not seem like much, $15 extra a week goes a long way to helping pay for the rising costs to run your own delivery business. Consumers should not stand for being fleeced for a cause that a company no longer supports.

  • Support Roe V Wade
    • The fight for reproductive rights is a long, historic battle that not only controls and restricts women's rights, but trans men, non-binary people, low income individuals, and that's only naming a few •The supreme court has no moral authority controlling our bodies. •This is a a major pushback on our rights. •With the supreme court’s logic in overturning Roe V Wade, they can use the same argument to go after Trans People’s rights to access HRT, and even a gay or interracial couple’s rights to marry. •The pro-choice community has already done a hell of a job stepping up and fighting for the rights we deserve, and that’s not going to stop until we are guaranteed those rights. •Not until the Supreme Court realizes that forcing parenthood on anyone, forcing us to go through such a painful and traumatizing experience, is not part of our so-called “democracy” •This is a ploy by old cis white men to get anyone with a uterus to stay silent, and we will not have it. Not after fighting so damn hard for our rights for so many years. If abortion and miscarriages are going to be felonies, these people will not be able to vote. They will not have a right to speak their peace, which we have fought for, for DECADES. •Teen pregnancy in Arkansas is twice as high as the national average, and you cannot tell us that adoption is an option with a failing foster care system housing over 400,000 kids. •To everyone here: remember as we move forward with this movement— the Supreme Court does not represent the majority of Americans, who support abortions. •And to everyone who thinks overturning Roe V Wade will make abortions go away or make them less accessible: All you’re doing is killing more people.

  • Let Zander Speak!
Zander Moricz, an 18-year-old student at Pine View School, is a plaintiff in the "Don't Say Gay" lawsuit and his school’s first openly-gay Class President. School administration informed him that he was not permitted to reference his activism or role in the lawsuit in his graduation speech. If he were to do so, his microphone would be cut off and the ceremony would be brought to a halt. This is not the beginning of the administration's opposition to his LGBTQ+ advocacy. Upon discovering that he was organizing a Say Gay walkout, all posters advertising the event were ripped from the walls and they instructed him to shut the event down–leveraging the threat of school security. He held the walkout anyways, and it became Sarasota County’s largest protest. Now, he needs our help. Zander issued a call to action on Twitter that has since gone viral, urging Florida high school seniors to order free “Say Gay” stickers to wear at their graduation ceremonies. While hundreds of students responded, rallying behind the cause, the Sarasota County School Board still issued a statement explaining that, “a graduation should not be a platform for personal political statements,” and claiming to be prepared to “take appropriate action”.

  • End the filibuster to protect abortion rights!
Democratic senators just tried to pass a new law to protect all Americans’ constitutional right to an abortion, regardless of their zip code. An abortion protection law is absolutely necessary now that the Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, but the vote failed — with Joe Manchin casting a decisive anti-abortion vote along with all 50 Republicans. Even if Manchin had voted yes, the bill would have “failed” due to the filibuster rule that requires 60 votes for the Senate to close debate. But the Senate can amend that rule any time they like by a simple majority vote. The filibuster is fundamentally undemocratic because it grants just a few individuals disproportionate power. It's time for Congress to eliminate the filibuster to protect democracy!
