Hawks in Congress are working overtime to pour billions of dollars into apocalyptically dangerous weapons like the unnecessary nuclear sea-launched cruise missile (SLCM-N) and the outdated B83 megaton bomb. This backward thinking only accelerates a nuclear arms race to the bottom that could end the world as we know it — and with the war raging in Ukraine, that thinking is the exact opposite of what we need to promote peace. Thankfully, it’s not a done deal. Negotiations are still underway in Congress around the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a must-pass bill that sets the spending priorities for over three-quarters of a TRILLION dollars. We’re doing everything we can to draw a line in the sand that sends a loud and clear message: No more nukes. This is a fight we can win — and we need you with us. The rule of law is paramount in our Republic, and no one - including Supreme Court Justices - are above the law. If it transpires after further investigation that perjury did not occur, then so be it. However, if any Justice committed perjury then that need to be held to account - just like any other citizen.

The SCOTUS not only took away the rights of women to make their own healthcare decision, they also violated the constitution which states freedom of religion. We are not a Christian nation, but a nation of all diverse religious beliefs.

Corporations have a responsibility to step up in the wake of the Supreme Court decision that eliminated the federal right to an abortion. Disney took an important stance by creating a policy to support employees who have to travel out of state to get abortion care. But, Disney is part of the reason this decision was handed down! They need to halt donations to anti-abortion politicians. In 2020, 53% of all of Disney’s political giving was to anti-abortion politicians. Disney can’t claim to be a pro-family organization when they are giving to anti-family politicians who want to control our own reproductive health decisions. As parents and community leaders who have shared the life of our children with disabilities in the regular education classroom, we provide an education in the least restrictive environment. The Hughes Center is the opposite of this. I come to you in support of the close to 40 years of MCPS inclusive education with age appropriate peers. There is a legacy in this county of respecting inclusive education, making it sustainable, and living in an inclusive community. Please sign the petition to request the Christiansburg Town Council rescind and negate the permit for the Hughes Center and instead, focus resources to strengthening inclusive education within the existing school buildings.
