• Whole Foods Suppliers Help Defeat Prop. 37
There are 24 corporations who have organic labels that donated almost half of the 46 million used to defeat Prop.37. At least a dozen of these companies supply Whole Foods. Whole Foods should not do business these companies if they really support no GMO.

  • FISCAL DEAL: NO TAX CUT FOR TOP 2%! NO SOCIAL SECURITY/MEDICARE/MEDICAID CUTS!
All suffering is not created equal. And to suggest that if the wealthiest among us—those households with incomes over $250,000/year, but what we’re really talking about are the millionaires and beyond—are to suffer, then also must the most disadvantaged among us: seniors must be forced to choose between food and medicine, kids with chronic disabilities are to be denied medical care… well, that is just wrong.

  • Save the California Delta
Removing fresh water from the Delta will cause a collapse of the fisheries, destroy Delta farmland, degrade the drinking water of Bay Area residents, create a polluted mess for boaters, waterskiers and other water enthusiasts. This is a water grab by special interests in the San Joaquin Valley and Southern California. Now they want the legislature to do what the people rejected at the polls. Help us save the California Delta - the largest freshwater estuary West of the Mississippi, critical to the Northern California environment (the most important biological asset on the west coast, home to 750 species of fish, birds and other animals), recreation, local Delta farmers and the Delta economy. Water exports have increasingly affected Delta water quality, resulting in a salmon fishery closure in 2008/2009 with significant economic losses, all to benefit the desert farmland's big agribusiness millionaires. I live on the Delta part time and love it - it's my backyard. Current plans will cause the demise of salmon and other fish and fowl and will harm the Delta economy and the health and quality of Delta water. That's why I signed a petition to Governor Jerry Brown the entire California legislature; Senators Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein; Nancy Pelosi, the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives; Bay Area Congressman George Miller; and President Barack Obama.

  • Congress: cut costs by giving up your retirement pensions and health care
We are all affected because we get to pay for these. Congress might not be in such a hurry to cut Social Security and Medicare if they had to rely on them instead of receiving premium health care and fat pensions for life just because they served in Congress. Service should be an honor rather than a profession with lifetime rewards.

  • Bailing out homeowners
I am an 80 year old woman needing to downsize from a gorgeous home in a fine school district. I refinanced at the height of the market. I had considered this home to be my retirement money but it is now valued at half of my original investment. I need help and lowering my payments does not give me the help I or anyone who needs to sell, the help we need. TaxPayers Bailed out the Banks, now we need help.

  • Protect Medicare, Medicaid, & SS; End Tax Cuts for Top 2%
MEDICAID, MEDICARE, and SOCIAL SECURITY did not cause the deficit and should not be part of the "fiscal cliff" negotiations. The poor and the middle class should not have their safety nets and health care slashed because of the excesses of previous administrations and the greed of Wall Street. There are many ways to decrease the deficit without hurting the poor and the middle class. Congress needs to do the right thing; let the tax cuts on the top 2% expire. Preserve the tax cuts for the 98%. Deal with other budget issues after January 1. The deficit must be addressed in a careful, thoughtful way that doesn't hurt the majority of Americans who can LEAST afford cuts in benefits and higher taxes. We urge Rep. King to reconsider his previous position of opposing the expiration of the Bush tax cuts for the top 2%.

  • Stop Giving Foreign Aid to Military Regimes: Give To Womens Groups For Change Around The World
Our Government should stop giving foreign aid to governments where so much of it goes into military spending and spreading brutality in their countries and around the world, by causing other countries to intervene in their interior wars. I watched programs on PBS about women who are standing up for change in their countries. I think more of our foreign aid should go directly to them. Then we will see a change for women's rights and for more humane societies.

The normal person in America cannot take a hit with more taxes. We want you to do your jobs Congress! There is not one good reason the middle income or the poor should be hit while not asking the highest incomes to do their fair share.
