• stop treading on working famlies
im a welder and in this field it is tuff to find a job becouse most companies have switched to a 90/10 work force. where 90%hire ons and 10% permanent temps. this does not sound like alot but it is becoming common practice to only hire the management/ suppervisors and have the workers as permanent temps. i have personally watched as companies would tell the temps (some of wich have been working at the companie for years) that there are no positions availabe as we watched a what i assume is a friend or familey member gets hired on off the street. this ruins what illusion of worker rights we have left and proves to be an unstable ground for working families to stand on.

  • Global Warming Mitigation and Recovery Act of 2013
$1.2 trillion was wiped out from the global economy this year as a result of a warming planet, which is 1.6% of the world economy, according to the Dara Group's report, Climate Vulnerability Monitor. The study also estimates costs associated with warming to increase to 3.2% of the world economy by 2030, leaving world GDP nearly stagnant, and falling. It is way past due that the US Government wake up to the sobering fact that climate change and economic decline must be fought with trillions of dollars in large infrastructure projects to renew our energy, transportation, and communication grids, as well as reshape urban planning in order to create a more balanced relationship between humans, resources, and nature.

  • Take over properties with mortgages underwater for the sake of people whose homes went under water
People on Staten Island displaced due to Superstorm Sandy have lost their homes and many still await FEMA trailers. Meanwhile, a lot of potential housing away from the flood zone goes unused due to underwater mortgages, legal issues, etc. My petition is to ask the government to take over such properties by means of eminent domain, rehabilitate them as necessary, and use them to house people who need new homes due to the storm. The issue is now so massive it goes beyond economics and affects the social order.

  • Impeachment proceedings for signers of the "Taxpayer Protection Pledge"
This petition is to urge Representative Lamar Smith (R-TX), outgoing Chair of the House Committee on the Judiciary, or his successor, incoming Chair Representative Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), to initiate impeachment proceedings against every member of congress who has signed the "Taxpayer Protection Pledge" sponsored by "Americans for Tax Reform". The signers of this pledge have signed a sworn oath that contradicts their oath of office. Therefore, in fact, they do have mental reservations, and they do have purpose of evasion, a High Crime and Misdemeanor (perjury of oath).

  • Senators: Change Senate Filibuster Rules Now
The Founding Fathers discussed the idea of a Super Majority to pass a law and rejected it. The filibuster was meant to give voice to the minority, not to allow tyrannical minority rule.

  • Stop fossil fuel advertising on TV
Fossil fuel companies give advertising dollars to Television networks to advance clean coal, clean natural gas, cleaned up oil and chemicals in the Gulf of Mexico; after the worst oil spill in the history of the world. It is offensive to view fossil fuel spokespersons describe mountaintop removal, Fracking, oil clean-ups, pipelines and other fossil fuel endeavors that are destroying the planet as clean and good for us.

  • Felons need jobs too!!!!
I have a great work history of 11 years within one company. Last year I was laid off due to a conversion and centralization within the company I worked for. When I wanted to return to work, I was told that the company would only look 10 or 7 years back. I have a felony conviction from 1996. I applied for a job that said they would only check 7 years back. I was hired but fired after 1 week when they said they found something on my record from 1996!! I am 39 credits away from my bachelor's degree in Accounting. How can I get a job?!!!
