Economists across the country agree that to avoid the fiscal cliff and balance our budget, we must decrease spending AND increase revenue. Congressional research reports have clearly shown that lowering taxes on the wealthy does NOT boost the economy or grow jobs, it only increases the income gap between the rich and the everyone else. Democrats and the President have listened to this expert advice, and propose raising taxes on those who can afford it: Americans making $250,000 or more. For almost 20 years, Republicans have fervently opposed raising taxes on anyone, regardless of the financial state of the nation. In 2011, only 0.7% of Americans made $250,000 or more, and paid less than 25% of their income in taxes. To oppose generating revenue by raising taxes on this tiny fraction of the citizenry that can afford it is to hold the country's financial future hostage for the benefit of a select elite. By signing this petition, you will tell your two Senators and House Representative that you support raising taxes on the privileged 0.7% to help balance our budget and avert the fiscal cliff, which is certain to devastate the entire U.S. economy.

Large contributions to political campaigns and candidates are essentially totally unproductive wastes of money. This could be changed if large contributions were required to be matched by equal contributions to the Federal government, specifically to reduce the national debt.

The only way that I see the people of the United States getting the Country back is to stop the Congress and Senate from being a Career.

Stop Hobby Lobby from enacting their desire to "choose" for women their access to birth control. All women could be effected by any court decision.

The county of saint johns is proposing a road to extend saint johns parkway to county road 208. if you go here: ftp://ftp.bocc.co.st-johns.fl.us/gis/media/MapMart/North_South_Corridor_web.pdf you can see a mpa of the proposed alighment of the road. it goes right through the wet lands and is basically in alighnment with I 95. it's wasteful and distructive. please let the county know that this road will not stand. Even before the 2012 General Election, accusations of voter fraud and suppression were being made in states across the nation. Voter identification laws, restrictions on voting hours and locations, partisan attempts to mis-lead voters, and problems with electronic voting machines must be investigated so that the cornerstone of our democracy - free and fair elections for all, can continue unencombered by any attempt to change, alter or negate the will of the people.

Presidential elections should be decided by the popular vote, not by the Electoral College system which is now outdated. The present system makes it possible for a candidate to win the election with less than 50% of the popular vote. Modern technology can ensure that the president is elected by the majority of voters.

During the past four years, conservative blackmail tactics have severely crippled Congress. It is very unlikely Republicans will meet the President halfway before the end of the year. We need to have the courage to accept a tax increase in order to break the tyrannical hold of conservatives in both houses who are committed to only protecting the interests of million and billionaires.
