• No Holiday Break for Congress Until Deal
We will all be personally affected if CONGRESS cannot get their act together and reach a deal to prevent the fiscal cliff. I am pushing for CONGRESS to stay in session, ie no holiday break until they reach a deal.

  • Rep. Scott Rigell: Drop Norquist anti-tax pledge
We need for our representatives to drop the Norquist anti-tax pledge and allow the Bush tax cuts for the top 2% to come to an end. Norquist is not relevant to our Congress as it now stands. The Republicans need to understand they were overwhelmingly defeated in this last election because they either don't understand or are not part of middle class America.

  • Stop all lobbying from firms who only lobby or from former congressmen
Getting rid of professional lobbyist. All money given to politicians by lobbyist should be against the law. Only individuals should be able to contact their representatives.

  • Eliminate Corporate Welfare. Increase Corporate Taxes!
Corporations in our country don't pay taxes! When was the last time the government increased their taxes? When will our government stop the tax loopholes, subsidies, and welfare for big business? It affects us all personally! We as individuals pay more in taxes as a result!

  • Citizens Group To Take On Navy
The U.S. Navy at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor, North Whidbey, is updating its aircraft to the monstrous F-18 Growlers. SHOCK AND AWE is an understatement when one flies overhead. We are trying to stop military carrier landing exercises on a small WW II emergency landing airstrip located south of Coupeville, Central Whidbey, within The Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve, a National Park.

  • Reform Proposition 13
This proposition is a plea to have the old Proposition 13 tax law overhauled in several ways. Firstly, it is completely insidious that corporations such as Google pay property tax rates based on this law, while accumulating millions of dollars in profits at the expense of California school systems and protection services from the police and fire departments. Secondly, it is completely unfair that new homeowners have to pay taxes based upon this law for extremely high priced homes, when their neighbors have willed their properties to their children who then receive the benefit of this law, when it was originally supposed to be for people who would live in their home until death so they could afford to keep their homes. This is unfair to younger families who are then forced to pay an unrealistic tax rate to pay for the deficiencies in tax revenue. My son and daughter in law live in Los Altos California and the price of homes is around $700.000 to a million dollars. This tax law prevents them from being able to buy a home with the addition of a tax that adds thousands of dollars more to a home while the people living across the street pay taxes based on a home purchased for $22,000.00 paying practically nothing in yearly property taxes. This is happening all over the state of California. Mr. Jarvis has been deceased for many years, the law is out of date for the current economic situation of our state and country. The most glaring inequity being the amount that large corporations pay for their multimillion, billion dollar businesses. Please help us bring this issue to the forefront of reformation in our state for the good of education and protection services, not to mention the affordability of homes for young families. My name is Jean Nielson. I was an educator for twenty years. I know the crisis in education and it is destroying our college system, as well as the K-12 system. I am working after retirement because I still care for children and the welfare of our future. Help Californians realize the damage of this proposition. Please sign my petition so we can limit corporate wealth and help the citizens of our state. Sincerely, Jean Nielson MA Education

  • home owners insurance cap
The home owners insurance in louisiana is ridiculous. We are worried that yearly high increases and no cap will force homeowners to leave our homes due to not being able to afford the mortgage anymore with outrages insurance cost.

  • End Racism plus Sexism Against Women of Color
The Declaration of Independence says there will be for "Liberty and Justice for All" but women of color have been marginalized and made invisible at the bottom of our society since 1776. Only 44 women of color have ever been in Congress (1 in Senate; 43 in House of Representatives) and not yet in every state legislature. We will be unrepresented until the rest of the nation does the right thing.

  • President, Congress, Senate: End all wars now! Keep our money at home!
We all are having economic problems because of so much money going to support the wars. Many have lost family members either in the war or because of suicide committed because the returning servicemen could not deal with what they saw. Many more are paraplegics or quadriplegics, having lost legs and arms. This cost is incalculable as most of these men (and a few women) will never be able to do the jobs they had hoped to perform. It is time to end the money going to Israel too. This money here at home could prevent hunger and homelessness. It is time to keep our money here at home!

  • Investigate Voter Supression in the 2012 Election
Lobbying groups and political strategists have pushed changes to voting laws in numerous state legislatures which sought to make it more difficult for certain portions of the electorate to cast their ballots. Disenfranchisement tactics included voter ID laws, shortened early voting hours and days, voter purges and illegal voter registration practices. The apparently coordinated tactics, under the guise of fighting voter fraud, were designed to influence the outcome of the 2012 election by suppressing the turnout of specific voting groups. We call on our leaders in the White House and Congress to fully investigate this threat to democracy, prosecute those found to have acted illegally and make legislative changes to prevent this type of abuse from happening in the future.

  • vote for the middle class tax release
it is about making sure the middle class continue to receive the tax breaks while the top 2% pay their share. Stop this deadlock from the Republicans. i am sure they do not want to be the reason for this deadlock. Let's apply the pressure to do the "Right Things".
