• Congress: Fix the fiscal cliff before you go on vacation
Congress is scheduled to work 10 days in December before they go on vacation lasting until the new year, possibly not resolving the fiscal cliff. This is after they had a lengthy recess for the election cycle, and then another for Thanksgiving. We should demand they stay at their jobs until they pass a tax break for the 98% who are not making over $250,000/year ( $200,000 for single filer). This Congress is distinctive for being among the least productive in history. We must tell them, loud and clear, that we won't stand for it. In President Obama's words, "it's like a lump of coal for Christmas. It's a Scrooge Christmas." No tax break= no vacation.

  • Ask President Obama to change $250k tax limit to $400k.
The President has set a limit for increasing taxes on any single person at $200,000, but has set the limit at $250,000 for couples. This is a sexist policy because it assumes one spouse to be making 25% of the other. It also tacitly discourages successful individuals from marrying financially and intellectually equal spouses. A policy that would treat both spouses equally would set the limit of $200,000 for each spouse. Tell the President that this inequality should be corrected.

  • GOP Congressional Vendetta
My petition is about just how the GOP is dealing with the public when its the same public that elects them. They wont cut anything that is the "darlings" of the GOP...Either the Military or the Industrial Complex....and instead..they come after social issues and the assist that it supplies. Folks need help in this economy and they know it. It was the GOP that did this to us...and now..they show even more disdain for people. Its criminal.

  • Make climate change a priority
The time to act on climate change is now. We need leadership from Congress and the President to put a price on carbon and enact other measures to dramatically reduce our carbon output.

  • Make Presidential Candidates Swear To Tell The Truth
Let's hold our Presidential candidates to a standard we expect in our courts - by having the candidates swear to tell "the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth" for publicly televised debates.

  • Term limits for US Congressmen/women
Our paid employees in the US congress have spent a lot of time just trying to stay in office. Not working on issues that come up is a waste.

  • Bring good time back to prisoners in Michigan, who didn't kill, rape or molest anyone
We are paying more to incarcerate a prisoner than we pay to educate a child. They are now going into elementary schools counting heads for the prison system. Tell congress we can’t afford our children not to be educated. Put money in our schools and not in the hands of private investors for prisons. Our prisons are overcrowded and the state is saying they can’t afford to feed them. In prison and they are now giving the inmates bag food. This along with the mental and physical abuse by the guards only make more harden crimminals.
