The rich paying more through HIGHER TAX RATES, not through other tax concessions only, MUST be the first requirement for developing a balanced approach to the debt crisis. President Obama SHOULD NOT compromise raising the tax rates of the rich; IT WOULD BE VERY DEMEANING TO THE PRESIDENT'S CHARACTER FOR HIM TO GO BACK ON HIS WORD TO DO SO.

In the past decade the Rails - to - Trails conservancy has taken a dangerous leap from advocating trail conversion on already abandoned rail coridors to advocating the abandonment of intact, functioning rail corridors for the purpose of trail use under the guise of "railbanking". This is of major concern to anyone with a stake in the green movement - and anyone who cares about the economic future of our nation. Rail is the most efficient means of transportation we've got, and we need to save every mile of railroad we have in America!

Now that there is more revenue in the state some of the cuts in MediCal should be restored, especially for vision which affects me.

As a small business owner that provides services to people with disabilities who receive Medicaid benefits and as a father and husband who purchases private health insurance for my family, I see firsthand the potential benefits to Floridians if the governor and state legislature enact both the Medicaid expansion and healthcare exchange tenants of the Affordable Care Act. Expanding Medicaid will allow current recipients to work more hours without the worry of loosing the healthcare coverage that they rely on. It will also cover more Floridians who are working but cannot afford to purchase private insurance. Creating a statewide exchange could maximize competition and choice for Florida consumers which could result in lower premiums and more affordable coverage for Floridians like myself who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but still find it difficult to afford private health insurance.

The Bremerton Marina is a wonderful public dock and salt water access area on the City of Bremerton water front. The recent downturn in the national economy in conjunction with continued mismanagement of the marina, by both the Port of Bremerton Commissioners and upper level facility management has created a situation where the marina is continually short of revenue. As a result, of this shortfall, the only solution the Port of Bremeton's Commissioners are proposing ss that they should be allowed to sell and therefore privatize what is and should remain a publicly owned facility and highly valuable piece of water front infrastructure.

Walmart workers around the country walked off the job on Black Friday in protest for more full-time positions, better wages and more affordable access to insurance. As a former Walmart worker, I know that Walmart keeps many or most of its employees part-time, pays exceedingly low wages, and the insurance is so expensive that most workers cannot afford to participate in the plans.

If mendacity had resulted in Mr. Romney winning the Presidential election, he would have done the nation a great disservice. As a proponent of free markets, he should know that efficient markets require perfect information from both buyers (voters) and sellers (politicians). Alas, Mr. Obama and his campaign were not completely free of untruths either.

Pres. Obama has an opportunity to go down in history as one of the greatest presidents in US history if he is able to broker a PPME. This would involve reconsideration of our present foreign policy with Israel.The United States need to level the playing field in the ME. The Palestinians and Israelis must be treated as equals and with human dignity. Unless we can persuade Israel to change its ways we will never see peace and the Muslims will continue to want to kill Americans.

Congressional leaders in the Republican ranks want to repeal the Affordable Care Act (a.k.a Obamacare), yet their health coverage is free and their retirement is free. It is time for the members of Congress to ante up and pay for their own health coverage and retirement if they wish to deny American citizens affordable care and Social Security. After all, they should lead by example.
