• Reduce Obesity of Americans by Changing Agricultural Subsidies
Subsides for corn and corn feed have done an excellent job at lowering cost on corn and its byproducts, like high fructose corn syrup and beef. Unfortunately, a growing percentage of our population is becoming overweight by consuming too much of these affordable foods. Changing our agriculture subsidies by transferring 20% of corn and corn feed subsidies to healthier fruits and veggies like avocados, spinach, cabbage, carrots, and tomatoes etc..would reduce the cost of these healthier foods and therefore increase consumption by Americans. This change would reduce obesity related diseases, which would result in lower health care costs.

  • IMPROVE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MOTOR-VOTER LAW
The purpose of the motor-voter law was to increase voter participation by making it easier to register. But because of a disconnect between the Department of Public Safety and the registration office many people who registered at the motor-vehicle department are turned away at the polls because they are not registered. I know of one case where around 2000 people lost their right to vote because of this disconnect.

  • Save the Post Office
Hundreds of Post Offices are about to be closed. Why? Certain members of congress wish to see this service privatized so that they can make millions for their already rich friends. The working class is constantly under attack. Save the workers. Save yourself.

  • Dethroning Corporations
Overturn Citizens United v. The Federal Election Commission. America was founded in response to the tyranny of a despotic oppressor. Our 18th century revolution set the stage for a new, democratic way of life. But it took less than two hundred years before we lost our way and once again took up the yoke of oppression. Through a long history of self-serving legislation and judicial decisions, monied interests managed to cede overwhelming power to corporations, ultimately threatening our very republic. It is time for a second American Revolution; one in which we cast down this insidious corporate tyrant and restore government control to those whom it should and must represent: we the people. Undue corporate influence over our legislative process must and should be strictly limited, first by overturning this disastrous decision by the SCOTUS.

  • Rejecting "sour grapes" secession movements
We in Illinois have all read about the posturing being done by conservatives both here and across our nation. These movements are not serious, and should not be addressed as such by our elected officials.

  • Employee Compensation
Public companies are required by law to report information that private companies are exempt from reporting. They must report executive compensation for example. As a consumer I would prefer to do business with and would even pay higher prices to the companies that provide their employees with the highest pay and health insurance. Public companies should be required by law to post publicly their compensation practices and percentage of full time and part time employees. This would provide consumers with important information with which to chose who to do business with. Public companies are daily collecting vast amounts of information on the behavior and preferences of their customers. We, their customers are entitled to more information about the business practices of Public Corporations.
