End the speedtrap in the Village of Brice,OhioOhio: Speed Trap Village Runs Illegal Court Brice, Ohio has canceled court hearings over concern the speed trap village violated the law. The mayor of Brice, Ohio has canceled mayor's court hearings until further notice after lawmakers insisted that the village was in violation of a 2003 statute designed to prevent speed traps. In Ohio, 333 towns use mayor's courts to process traffic tickets and minor infractions with the mayor able both to decide guilt or innocence in individual cases and to decide how to spend the fine money that is collected. Ohio's top ten most successful mayors together brought in $2.3 million for their budget in 2004 with this system. Louisiana is the only other state to use mayor's courts. Brice raised 40 percent of the village budget by issuing tickets at a rate of 7.6 citations per resident. Ohio law says that no village of less than 100 residents, as defined by U.S. census figures, may operate a mayor's court. Brice has 70 residents. Lawmakers are now considering raising the minimum figure. Bring an end to the village of Brice, Ohio for being a speedtrap.928 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Scott

Go to the wizard and get a heart, Michael'sWhen my husband died, my daughter and I made up a poster-size tribute to him, including pictures and many craft materials from Michael's. We dropped off the tribute to Michael's for framing and paid the framing cost in advance. Sixteen days after my husband died, I fell and broke my back, ribs, etc. Although I received calls from Michael's reminding me of the "tribute" I needed to pick up while at the hospitals and the nursing home, they never told me they would throw the tribute away. I opened an envelope that told me that in front of the manager of the local Michael's AFTER I'd gone in to pick it up. I wanted to PROVE to him that I'd never received this notification. They refunded me the cost of the framing (but not the materials I'd bought there, the photos, the poster, or anything else), and told me it is corporate policy to discard materials not picked up after a period of time, even if they are prepaid, and even if their paperwork says it is a "tribute" so they know loss is involved.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lynda Federoff

Minimum Wage RecoveryWe need to get back the lost buying power that we had in 1975. This would be a terrific stimulus to our economy, and might even help some Wal-Mart employees get off food stamps.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rudy Hazucha

Gov Cuomo: Stand up for a Democratic State Senate majorityNew Yorkers voted for change this fall, and Democrats won upset victories and a historic majority in the State Senate. But a group of rogue Democrats is discussing an alliance with Republicans in the State Senate that would squash the progressive agenda and keep Republicans in control. And Gov. Cuomo? He's saying he "won't get involved." Join us in calling on Gov. Cuomo to stand up for a Democratic Senate Majority that can pass the progressive agenda we voted for. The Governor says he stands for progressive values. He supports public financing of elections, raising the minimum wage, gun control and protecting women's health. But Republicans in the State Senate have bottled up our issues for years, or even decades! So now, when rogue Democrats are ready to join the Republicans and throw our progressive values under the bus, why is Governor Cuomo is willing to stand by and let it happen? This is no time to stay out of the fray – if Gov. Cuomo truly shares our values, he's got to fight for them. Tell Governor Andrew Cuomo to speak up for a Democratic Senate majority in Albany.2,361 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Joe Seeman

Congress Needs Term LimitsAmerica can no longer sit back and wait for the federal government to decide whether they want to run an effective administration that will turn this country around. The U.S. lawmakers need to have term limits, so that those who are not proactive and effective can be voted out, and replaced by those who truly want to make and keep this country the global leader. America can no longer afford to sit back and allow government, republicans nor democrats continue to hold our country hostage, while they look for ways to impose selfserving idealogy.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mary Flowers
