  • Mr. President and Governors, Grant Clemency
The President and our governors turn their backs on men and women in prison. It used to be that thousands of clemency petitions were granted in a year. In the past four years the President has granted only 22 -- but he's pardoned eight turkeys.

  • Denny's Owner: Stop Proposed 5% "Obamacare Surcharge"
John C. Metz, owner of several dozen Denny's restaurants, announced on 11/15 that he will add a 5% "Obamacare Surcharge" onto his customers' checks (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1112/83943.html?hp=l5). If we don't feel like paying 5% extra, he simply proposes that we tip his employees 5% less. Additionally, Mr. Metz stated he will reduce many of his full-time restaurant employees to part-time status so he can avoid purchasing health insurance for them. Many of the previously unemployed who have found new work have done so in the service industry, at companies like Mr. Metz's. These people cannot afford a 5% reduction in their tips, and Denny's customers cannot afford a 5% surcharge on their food.

  • Legalize cannabis in Louisiana
I'm have the most painful disease known to man and I could get rid of four medications with one legal plant. Disabled people who partake in smoking should not have to feel like a criminal. The prohibition on cannabis needs to end. Anybody with anxiety they give Xanax which when stopped causes seizures and its addicting!!! Wake up and realize there are safer alternatives that are being denied to us over propaganda that the government put out cause of the fiber. Cannabis also is a great strong fiber called "Hemp". But in 36 before the war the oil executives wanted nylon to be the fiber of choice. So instead of natural and stronger we went petroleum and weaker"nylon". This plant is a great medicine and a great fiber to save trees. Please help this state legalize cannabis and tax it like they do tobacco and alcohol.

  • Student Loan Forgiveness
The petition is for President Obama to push for the Student Loan Forgiveness Act of 2012 which will help the economy for reducing the financial stress the student loans have created in this country. This bill is truly a piece of non-partisian legislation that representatives from both parties have agreed would work. Personally after chipping away at student loans from NYU for the last 15 years, I'm ready to be done, I've paid my dues. With that money freed up, I could re-invest more into my business to help it grow.

  • Felon Voting Disenfranchisement Laws Must Be Repealed!
Today, 3.9 million felons and ex-felons are unable to vote in the United States. The number of total disenfranchised individuals represents 2.3% of the total adult population, which, if eligible to vote, could affect election outcomes. The right to vote is one of the most important rights in the United States and these laws should be repealed. Everyone deserves a voice, even those who have made a mistake!

  • Colorado: Say NO to Uranium mine
Energy Fuels Inc. want to mine uranium in the Paradox Valley. This is the first uranium mill to be built in the United States in more than 25 years. Uranium is a volatile element, as it reacts with almost all nonmetallic elements. It has been known to cause lung cancer. I live here, with my family. We live on the Paradox Trail, a clean, unfettered, lovely place in the high desert of Colorado. Wildlife is abundant. We need to maintain our area, as it is. We need to stop Energy Fuels Inc. from mining our land and making it unstable and unsafe.
