Abolish the General Mining Law of 1872Thousands of acres of public land are being destroyed by gold miners along the Resurrection Creek in Hope, Alaska. When the moratorium on patents is lifted, the mining claim owner will attain the title to this land immediately. This law is archaic. We can no longer afford to give up land as in 1872, when land was plenty and development and settlement important. This law is giving our land to miners (uranium, silver, gold, copper, etc.) across the country, and we are not only losing land to companies but the bonds they must put forth are not nearly enough to clean up the damage done. All of this is based on 1872 prices. There is only a temporary moratorium on patents (which gives miners title to public lands). This must be renewed every year through an addendum to the budget (i.e. no money can be spent on giving people patents.) The people are getting no benefit from the mining operations that devastate the land.361 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Dru Sorenson

Save our access to public landsNext year, many of America's senior and disabled citizens, as well as our veterans and active military, will no longer be given free access to our public lands and facilities. Some concessionaires operating federal recreation areas and maintaining facilities on public lands will no longer accept Gold Age, Access, or Military passes for entrance and/or use of the public lands created and supported by taxpayers, despite the fact that most of these concessionaires operate those facilities at 40-50% pure profit, amounting to hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars a year. My wife is an MS patient living on a fixed income of less than $1,100 per month. Without her Access Pass, there are any number of America's landmarks we would never have been able to see, much of our own heritage we would never have experienced.100 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Michael Gray

Accept expanded Medicaid funding under the Affordable Care ActThe economic progress of the state depends on having a healthy workforce. Oklahoma currently ranks 46th in the nation for the health of its citizens. We remind you that you said in your 2012 State of the State address that access to affordable health care is necessary for Oklahoma citizens to become healthier. We identify four reasons why the Medicaid expansion should be accepted. 1. It will reduce the number of uninsured Oklahomans. By accepting Medicaid funding, the number of uninsured poor people could be cut by 53.1 percent. Reducing the number of uninsured reduces costs for everyone and makes the healthcare system work better. 2. It protects Oklahoma hospitals. Hospitals will end up treating Oklahoma’s indigent population no matter what happens. They will end up losing millions of dollars in payments if federal funding is not accepted. 3. It will spur the economy by bringing billions of dollars to the state. This will drive more Oklahomans to seek medical services, resulting in an increased demand for medical jobs. While states will have to spend some money on Medicaid, there will be an overall budget savings because a variety of other state expenses, like uncompensated care, will go down. 4. It is philosophically the correct course to take. Health care is a right, not a privilege. The state has a responsibility and people ought to expect to be able to get health care. We urge you to accept the Medicaid expansion.243 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Marguerite

Indict just one big bankerThe big bankers lied, cheated and stole from us and our relatives, and we lost our homes and fortunes as a result. Now we are unemployed and they are still collecting huge bonuses. Erik Holder's failure to indict a single one of the big guys has ruined respect for the law and left too many people disaffected.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by James Keeney

CREDIT AGENCYS AND EMPLOYERSMANY PEOPLE ARE BEING DENIED EMPLOYMENT AND HOUSING BECAUSE OF THEIR CREDIT SCORES. THESE TWO THINGS ARE A HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUE. PEOPLE NEED JOBS TO BE ABLE TO PAY THEIR BILLS, HAVE A PLACE TO LIVE. PEOPLE WITH JOBS ARE TAX PAYERS WHICH IN TURN HELP THE ECONOMY. CREDIT WORTHNESS SHOULD NOT PLAY ANY PART IN ANY HUMAN BEINGS BASIC NEEDS. THE GOVERNMENT NEED TO STOP CREDIT AGENCYS AND EMPLOYERS FROM USING THIS KIND OF DISCRIMINATORY ACTS AGAINST PEOPLE IN AMERICA.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Barbara J. Thomas
