It has come to my attention that in recent years hi profile citizens have been allowed to live in multiple states and declare dual residencies for the sole purpose of running for public office just so they could run for a higher office. Mitt Romney is from Utah, yet he claimed to be a resident of Massachusetts while also living in New Hampshire just so he could run for Governor of Massachusetts and then eventually have a shot at running for the Presidency. That any and all citizens be limited to one state when running for any high public service office. If you weren't born there, you can't hold a public service office. Its a conflict of interest

  • Penalization of false political advertisement
Freedom of expression does not extend to lies to manipulate an ignorant populace. false or misleading political advertisement should be punishable by law. Being carpet-bombed with falsehoods for political gain harms the American psyche. That practice falls under the "harm" or "offense" exceptions to the first amendment (freedom of thought and expression). When we talk about rights (i.e. freedom of expression), we can't forget the other side of the coin: responsibility, since "freedom without responsibility degenerates into licentiousness".

  • Left, right or center, if you believe Congress is dysfunctional, this is a great chance to join W...
These are not my words or ideas, they reportedly came from Warren Buffet with input from many people before me and I don't totally agree with every point, but that's exactly the point. These are a starting point to build on and should be equally important to everyone who believes in democracy; left, right or center. I just formalized them in a petition to the President and Congress. Please join in and sign today, its really important. "We the people need to demand this bill be acted upon as a constitutional amendment." J.Q. Public This will work if we all do our share. Please send it to as many people as you can. If nothing else it will scare the fence-riders in congress when they see the broad support we have. This may be our last chance to stop this so let's get involved. Please read and pass this petition on to 20 of your friends... 04/14/12 Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling: "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election." The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971–before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc.. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven took one year or less to become the law of the land–all because of public pressure. Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email (petition) to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around. If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message. Don't you think it's time? This is how you fix congress!

  • Use Federal Civil Rights Legislation to Protect Children as a Special Class from Pedophiles
I was molested between the ages of 10 - 12 while a Boy Scout in Troop 455 in North Merrick, New York, which culminated in a very violent violation by my Boy Scout Troop Leader in his basement when I was 12. A 38 Caliber "Policeman's Special" was shoved into my mouth to "help me" forget. It worked for 33 years. My memory returned at age 45 in September 1994. I started therapy the next day. My Troop Leader apologized to me in July 1999. New York recently reformed its statute limiting prosecution. The deadline for criminal prosecution had been age 18; it is now 53. The reform also opened a one year "Look Back Window" that has allowed me to now be part of a class action. Now all I must do is survive Covid-19. Eight (8) States and The Territory of Guam have no Statute of Limitation for prosecuting child sex abuse. Each State treats child sex crimes differently. In my opinion, this is a violation of the "Due Process" and "Equal Justice" clauses of Article 1 of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution. The Federal Government is obligated to ensure Equal Justice Before the Law. This can be accomplished by using existing Federal Civil Rights Laws to protect children as a special class. There should be no Statute of Limitation on the Federal level shielding pedophiles from prosecution; the Federal Government must prosecute when the States fail to protect children, just as the Federal Government steps in when States fail to prosecute hate crimes. The most severely traumatized should not be further violated being denied justice because of a handicapped memory that resulted from the extreme nature of their trauma. The survivor-victim is still obligated to prove their case; most critically they must be heard! That is why I started this petition to the United States House of Representatives, the United States Senate, and to President Donald Trump. Will you sign this petition? https://petitions.moveon.org/sign/use-federal-civil-rights

  • Student Dies Before Graduation--Citibank Still Collects from Grieving Parents
Our daughter Brittani was killed in a tragic and brutal car accident three days before her twenty-third birthday—just a week before her college graduation. Brittani had dedicated her life to serving people and making people's lives better. She had her whole life ahead of her. When Brittani died, she still had student loans to pay off, and for more than three years Citibank demanded repayment from our family. While we grieved, Citibank continued to demand payment, and we struggled to pay these bills monthly. Our family is lucky. After more than three years of begging and pleading with Citibank, we started an online petition. With the help of our friends, MoveOn, and so many others, our petition spread fast. And once Citibank started to feel public pressure, they agreed to forgive Brittani's student debt. But we're not the only ones who have had this experience with Citibank and other big banks. Citibank received a taxpayer bailout, while most families get no help when they need it most. No one should have to go through think kind of ordeal. Citibank should institute a policy of student loan forgiveness when a student dies and stop going after family members.
