  • Make Congress Accountable to The American People
The average family is worth $77,500. The average Congressman's net worth is $13,000,000. The average senator's net worth is $6,000,000. How are the average people of this country supposed to believe that these elected "public servants" are really representing the average American family when their ways of life and lifestyles are so drastically different. Petition Letter Greetings, I just signed the following petition addressed to: American people, President, media. ---------------- Return Congrees to public servants The average family is worth $77,500. The average Congressman's net worth is $13,000,000. The average senator's net worth is $6,000,000. How are the average people of this country supposed to believe that these elected "public servants" are really representing the average American family when their ways of life and lifestyles are so drastically different. Congressmen and Senators are out of touch with the normal American family.I would like to change, not the process of election, but how our "public servants" operate in Washington.

  • Fair Wages for Individuals with Disabilities
Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (FLSA) allows employers to hold something called “special wage certificates” - which allows employers to withhold compensation or pay less than minimum wage to individuals with disabilities. (Hard to believe this type of discrimination exists) On October 4, 2011, Congressman Cliff Stearns (R-FL) and Congressman Tim Bishop (D-NY) introduced the Fair Wages for Workers with Disabilities Act of 2011 (H.R. 3086). The bill would phase out Section 14(c) of the FLSA over a three year period. The support and passage, of this important bill, is essential to ending discriminatory pay practices for individuals with disabilities.

  • No sales tax on clothes
Somehow , Masachusetts has the best education system in the country and are rated the 2nd best state in terms of loving their kids according to the highly respected Kids Count study by the Annie E Casey Foundation. Yet they pay no sales tax on clothes , 6.25 percent on other items .Why , because of split role. Here in sunny California we pay close to or at 10 percent and did poorly in Kids Count 41st and are very low in education . How do they do it ? Split Role , they got it and we don't.

  • RIDICULOUSLY SHORT SCHOOL LUNCH PERIODS CONTRIBUTING TO CHILDHOOD OBESITY!
My daughter attends Edgelea Elementary School. I went to eat lunch with her, to find that they had only 15 minutes for lunch, 7 minutes of that was standing in line. There were children horking their food on the way to the trash can to maximize their intake before lining up. I thought my daughter was talking too much during lunch, she barely said a word to me and only had time to finish half her chocolate milk, half a taco, and a small bit of her cooked carrots (which she always finishes at home). Needless to say, I WAS APPAULED!

  • Deficit
Petition the fed to allow tax payers the option to submit a small amount of a refund (amount on the payers discretion), even $1 to the deficit and have it applied like a 401k or similar type investment once we are out of the red. I myself get back 5 to 8k every year so I would throw in at least $300. The def would be paid within a decade and the contributers could collect a nice return on their small investment. This would allow America to take control of the finances and wage their own golbal financial domination. Just afraid the leaders in Washington don't have enough iintelligence to manage such an easy concept. This would also give Americans confidence in the Govenment. It doesn't get any easier than this, lets push it forward. Thanks Don 602-434-4773

  • South Carolinians against politicians signing the Grover Norquist Pledge
Politicians in South Carolina should refuse to sign the Grover Norquist Pledge. This pledge obligates the Congressman, legislator, or elected official to continue to exempt the wealthy from tax increases.

  • President Obama: Keep your promise: Close Guanatanamo Bay and hold the perpetrators of torture ac...
President Obama promised the American people to close Guantanamo Bay and to prosecute those within the CIA and the US military who committed torture in the name of the people of the United States during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This late in his first and perhaps only term of office, however, the President has failed to make any significant progress toward these promises. In fact, Attorney General Eric Holder recently announced that he was closing the books on very serious allegations of torture by the CIA that led to the death of detainees. There is no intent to pursue other cases. This means that not a single case of torture by the CIA has been prosecuted by this Administration. I voted for Obama in large part due to the promises he made to hold our country to the highest standards of rule of law. As the daughter of an American military officer who served in two wars and was awarded the Defense Distinguished Service Medal for his work toward peace in the Middle East and a Silver Star for gallantry in action, I know my father cared deeply about the honor of the US Military and was appalled by the conduct of those who did not uphold the Constitution and our international obligations under the Geneva Conventions and other treaties. My father died before the book was closed on investigations of torture but he would have been shocked by Holder's announcement. Please join in demanding justice for those held in secret detention, for those tortured in our names and for those held indefinitely without trial or hope of redress. Ask President Obama to keep his promises and to restore hope at home and abroad in the American ideals of rule of law and justice for all.

  • Norquist and His Treasonous Pledge
By signing the Norquist pledge to never raise taxes, those who sign jeoperodize the national security of America by starving our economy of essential resources to defend our global interests, secure domestic prosperity, and prepare for a better future. Those who sign do so in direct conflict with their oath of office to defend the Constitution, this on its face is subversive and borders on treason.

  • Corporate accountability
Since corporations are people, they (the executives) should go to jail for negligent homicide for oil disaster and mine disaster deaths etc. People do when they hit someone with a car.
