• Tell Michele Bachmann Enough Is Enough
I am a Minnesotain and I am ashamed of Michele Bachmann. Her hate and unsupported statements continue to ruin peoples' lives from around the country. It's time that we DEMAND her removal from Congress, either by her own will, or by pressure from her own party and the US at large.

  • Stop GMOs NOW before it is too late!
I have been the picture of health until I came to the USA. The only thing that changed was the food I ate. Little did I know about GMOs since it is kept secret from the public as much as possible by the manufacturers like Monsanto, Syngenta and its friends like Dow, DuPont, Bayer, Basf, Cargill, and others. There is a reason for so much cancer, heart disease, birth defects, infertility, autism, kidney diseases, obesity, allergies and others. Not only in us; in our pets too! Organic can sustain the world. GMOs are ruining it and our government is in bed with them.

  • Change instruction to engage children
Children are bored and depressed in public schools today. They do not learn because the curriculum and instruction are lifeless and drill-oriented. The curriculum needs to be broadened. Sitting still without talking for long periods of time is not conducive to learning. This does not prepare students for the real world of today's industry. They need to learn to collaborate and think together to solve problems. They need to be encouraged to be creative. Teachers need to be allowed to use differentiated instruction with students who are bored or feel stupid.

  • Domestic terror
The Aurora masacre is the latest domestic terror incident-including the Columbine killings, the Virginia Tech massacre, and the Fort Hood killings-that have terrorized and affected thousands of Americans directly and indirectly. Our nation has spent billions to combat foreign terror and its perpetrators. We should focus on domestic terror and take approptiate steps to eliminate it and reduce its effects on our people.

  • Governor Walker - Implement the Affordable Care Act in Wisconsin
Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice calls upon Governor Scott Walker and the leaders of the Wisconsin Senate and Assembly to implement the state health care exchange and the expansion of Medicaid, as called for in the Affordable Care Act. As clergy and people of faith, we believe it is a moral imperative to provide health care for all our citizens.

  • Assault weapons are WMDs
I was horrified to learn that anyone can legally purchase military type weapons. No one needs assault weapons to defend themselves. Regardless of our right to own guns there are some things that people should not be able to buy. The 2nd amendment was never intended to preserve the rights of those whose only purpose is violence. What's next, nuclear bombs at the corner market? Stop the madness!!

  • Cap Interest Rates Now
We have to put pressure on the auto finance industry as well as credit card companies to cap their interest rates for products and services to the middle class. The middle class uses credit cards and we are the largest group of outstanding auto loans and debt carriers. These auto loans for those without a credit score of 750 or above can go as high as 25%. I myself have been paying 21% on my auto. That said I have paid for my car twice. Credit card companies will offer an initial low interest rate until one payment is late or your credit score is below their standard and then it can skyrocket to as high as 35%. Because of this I have not had a credit card in 6 years. These companies make money from our purchases as well as our credit score. We, the middle class, make the economy; not the 1% of those that hold all the wealth in this country. What do these companies do with our money? Why have I had to pay for my car twice the amount of the selling price? Very often these companies ship their jobs, call center jobs, etc. over seas thus saving them money and making a large profit from the interest imposed. Perhaps some are investing in political campaign funding. The Middle Class is the backbone of this country and finance interest rates are at an all time high, giving these finance companies a huge profit while the middle class dwindle financially and is unable to spend in order to revive the economy. Put the pressure on to Cap Interest rates now!

  • Reinstate Federal Assault Weapons Gun Ban
In the 108th Congress, Representative Carolyn McCarthy, Democrat of New York, introduced H.R. 2038, the Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2003, on May 8, 2003, before the assault weapons ban expired. It had 111 cosponsors. The bill would have renewed the assault weapons ban for an additional ten years and revise the definition of "semiautomatic assault weapon." The bill never got out of committee to come up for a floor vote and died at the end of the 108th Congress.

  • No Growth Economic/Social Model
The Earth has finite resources. It cannot support endless growth of any kind. A completely new, sustainable path for humans must be followed or economic, social, and population crashes are inevitable.

  • Mandate drug testing for gun owners!
The Tea Party has spent a lot of energy insisting that in order to collect unemployment, welfare or any other form of government assistance, that we need to drug test the recipents. We need put to a vote the concept of buying a weapon requires a clean drug test too.
