  • Reduce the eligibility age for medicare to 62.
    Many seniors who are eligible for social security at 62 continue working just so that they do not lose their health care benefits. Some of these workers would benefit from early retirement due to current health conditions. This places a strain on employers who have less productive employees and it reduces openings for others who can not find jobs.

    Limiting national election campaigns to 9 months will reduce the amount of money spent campaigning. This works well in other countries. It can work here too.

    My petition is about the excessive amount of money spent on political campaigns. Only a reasonable amount, sufficient to communicate with constituents, would be allowed to be spent. I'm affected because my small donation and others like it cannot compete with the attention and influence large donations buy for wealthy individuals or groups.

  • Repeal the Patriot Act, Mr. President.
    Although Al Queda may always be a threat, that threat has clearly been reduced. With their leadership decimated, and a reduction of troop presence in Afghanistan set to begin in 2014, the security situation is clearly improving. We feel it is time to begin returning America's security status to pre 9/11 levels, beginning with the repeal of the invasive Patriot Act. We ask President Obama to make this a significant campaign promise for his second term.

    Saving railroad retirement as a private funding and not a social source. The benefits of railroad retirement are built around the fact that railroad employees have contributed to the American economy through the means of rail transport since the beginning of American business.   • Disabled Pell Grant Reinstatement
    Sometime disabled students get sick and have to drop semesters to get well. However with the new laws in place even the disabled are subject to a limited number of Pell Grants. I believe that education will make a stronger economy but when you stop Pell Grants you cut off your nose dispite your face as a country. Let's not allow the U.S. take away our education, let's get them to see its education we need to build a stronger economy.

    The climate crisis threatens all life on the planet in the very near future, certainly within the next 50 years. We are already seeing massive melting of glaciers, serious warming of the arctic regions, acidification of the oceans, rising ocean levels, losses of species and increased frequency and strength of storms.
