• Say " No " to the Tar Sands Pipeline in Vermont
The proposal to build the Tar Sands Pipeline through Vermont From Canada is not in the best interest of Vermont. It will cause much destruction of natural areas with the potential of so much more, as well as affecting our drinking water. How can we even consider this project based on the reasons that we, Vermont, just banned fracking in our state. To a great degree this proposed project will affect us in the same way. We are promoting the practice in other countries / states if we agree to this project. So we ban fracking in our state and then we allow them to pipe what is being fracked in other states / countries through our state?

  • Protect Bridgeport Residents from an Illegal Board of Education
Bridgeport's illegally appointed Board of Education, will vote tonight to extend the contract for Paul Vallas, who is a part-time, interim Superintendent of Schools and will lock his contract in place to the cost of $500,000 plus. In addition, they will be electing a Financial Oversight Committee and agree to accept a loan from the state which will take away Bridgeport's residents democratic rights by giving the State Commissioner of Education the ability to choose our future Superintendent of Schools. Please urge our elected officials to wait 90 days until our democratically elected members of Bridgeport's next Board of Education return. Allow our LEGAL Board of Education to determine whom to choose to run Bridgeport's schools without being stuck with unsound policies.

  • Save the USPO
The US Post Office is under attack. The USPO is under the control of Congress. In 2006 they burden the USPO to pay for 75 years of future retirement benefits. No business has such a burden. This added several billions dollars annually to the deficit now facing the USPO. We must repeal this burden and also to allow the USPO to expand to sell more than stamps,

  • A Reasoning of College Tuition and Interest Reduction
I am a student, just finished with a standard, science-entrenched high school career, looking towards college. My current loan interest rate is 6.8%, and expected to go much further. I am scared that one day, we will not be able to continue college educations for the masses, and the dream of the fities, to be top-dog in technology, will be gone.

  • The time for immigration reform is NOW!
Following the recent announcement that President Obama will halt the deportation of DREAMers, the Supreme Court has announced that they will let stand the despicable "Papers, please" provision of Arizona's SB 1070 that allows police to profile individuals based on the color of their skin. Our country's urgent need for a comprehensive solution for our broken immigration system has never been clearer. Add your name and message below to tell our leaders in Washington that the time is NOW for comprehensive immigration reform!

  • Medicare for All
Two years ago, my mother, Rhonda, lost her job. Then she lost her health insurance. She needed major surgery but was so worried about bankrupting our family with hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills that she waited. She waited until she couldn't hold off any longer without risking her life. The Affordable Care Act (aka "Obamacare") came along just in time. Now that the Supreme Court has struck down Obamacare, my mother—along with millions of other Americans—is left once again without access to high-quality health care. But we can use this moment to demand an even better system, a more progressive system—Medicare for All. Congress needs to know that the majority of Americans want a simple health care system that provides everyone with necessary care.
