Amend the constitution such that: When a constitutional amendment is passed in order to overturn a Supreme Court ruling, the Chief Justice shall me demoted to a junior member of the court and the President shall choose a new Chief Justice.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Casey Wimsatt

Put your money where your mouth is, Congress!Congress in Washington is making decisions that effect millions but it doesn't have any idea what the impact of those decisions are. Many in Congress want to eliminate the food stamp safety net for the working poor. Eating on a food stamp budget for a week would let them feel what poverty is really like. They need to realize that food stamp recipients are not living the easy life.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by michele Becher

Chicago Deaths in 2012 outpace Soldier deaths in AfghanistanThis petition is to call in President Obama and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, former cabinet member of President Obama to do Something to quell the violence in America's 3rd largest city. This isn't a problem in Africa, Asia or some distant place in the world, this is in our own Country! There have been 254 murders in Chicago to date and 154 soldiers killed in Afghanistan since the beginning of 2012. Something needs to be done. The President calls Chicago his Hometown and Rahm Emanuel is the mayor of Chicago. Can we not put some federal resources in place to help the citizens of Chicago?32 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Brandon Molina

Subject: Multicultural Education Festival of AmericaWe need a "United All Nations Education Weekend Festival" to educate our youth, adults and the community at large on the multiculturalism of America. As the first and former Executive Director of Multicultural Alliance of Virginia (MAVA), a need exists for us, as a people, to come together As One instead of living as strangers. People should sign the petition because it enriches our Cultural diversity in Virginia, thereby in doing so, we will be a trendsetter in making the Educational Festival a State Law.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Olive C. Stop Mayor Denson and the ACC's proposed Public Curfew LawMayor Denson, City Manager Reddish, and the Athens-Clarke County Commission are considering a Public Curfew law. Originally discussed as an Urban Camping Law, the ACC are now broadening the scope of it. As it is now being discussed, the law would allow the Commission to set a closing time for all County-Owned (aka owned by the citizens of ACC) properties, including City Hall, the County Courthouse, all public monuments, parks, greenways, etc. and the grounds surrounding these buildings. This law would have serious implications for the homeless, infringe upon free speech and assembly rights guaranteed in the Constitution, and could even restrict tailgating for UGA football games. The law is admittedly being drafted in response to a protest in 2012 by Occupy Athens protesters. If enacted, this law could be used at the discretion of public officials and the police, to shut down unwanted protests, harass and arrest homeless individuals, or make any activities after dark in public spaces illegal. Most area homeless do not have anywhere to go. There are over 500 homeless individuals in Athens-Clarke County, with about 20% being children, but only 250 shelter beds available. What will the police and ACC do with these people if they are not aloud to be on any public property after dark? Let's stop this law together because we should encourage our residents to take advantage of our beautiful city not limit their ability to. Say NO! to the Tilted Kilt in Morton GroveUPDATE: (7/22/12) There's been some movement on the Tilted Kilt front that I think is very positive. President Staackmann met with Ted last week and released a press release saying that Ted told Staackmann he wants "something the community can support" to go on the property. From the Patch story over the weekend: "Mayor Staackmann commented, in the statement, “We want Mr. Mavrakis to be successful, with a development that meets the needs of the market and the community. The Village will work with Mr. Mavrakis to develop something that we all can be proud of. ""He's intent on doing something and he wants it to be accepted by the community, so that's positive," Horne said. "He reassured us he wants something the community can be proud of and not looked down upon," Horne added. Here's the full story: http://niles.patch.com/articles/tilted-kilt-mayor-owner-meet-don-t-mention A second story came out as well saying that the development is on hold and with similar details: http://mortongrove.suntimes.com/13812242-417/tilted-kilt-proposal-on-hold-for-now-in-morton-grove.html This is the outcome we were hoping for--an agreement to build something the would be appropriate for the community. ________ Developer Ted Mavrakis applied to build a Tilted Kilt in Evanston but was denied a liquor license after more than 2,000 people protested. He then announced his intention to build a Tilted Kilt in Morton Grove on Dempster. Though he has not applied for any permits for the land in question, leading some to say this outcry is premature, we are concerned that the permit approval process offers few, if any, options for public discussion on the topic. We must speak up before it is too late. Such an establishment does not fit with Morton Grove’s family friendly values. The Tilted Kilt’s sexually provocative messages, particularly those that sexualize women as children in Catholic school uniforms, are not appropriate for our community, which prides itself on being named in “Family Circle” magazine’s “10 Best Towns for Families” and Bloomberg Businessweek’s “Best Place to Raise Your Kids 2012” edition. The proposed location, nestled in an area with residential housing and community facilities, including Linne Woods and pavilion, Harrer Park and Pool, the entrance to Park View Elementary School, and the forest preserve, is especially inappropriate. Police reports from other Chicago-area Tilted Kilt locations include reports of theft, public intoxication, criminal damage to property, battery, noise complaints, traffic accidents, drug sales, sales of alcohol to minors, and, in the case of the Elgin location, mixed martial arts matches (female-on-female and male-on-male) held in a custom-built cage on the premises, which were in violation of the liquor license. It should be noted that in cases of intoxicated and disruptive patrons the management simply ejects them into the surrounding neighborhood, thus making them the community’s problem to handle. The downtown location is also the subject of a federal sexual harassment suit by 19 women, and the Schaumburg location was the site of a suicide that was witnessed by customers. It is not a financially viable location for such an establishment. Other Tilted Kilts (Elgin, Schaumburg) are in much higher-traffic commercial areas, with office parks, larger strip/shopping malls, and hotels bringing in traffic. Crazy Jaws, a more family-friendly sports restaurant, closed in less than a year along a more commercial section of Waukegan, which would seem to bode ill for the Tilted Kilt. The outcome everyone wants to avoid is the Tilted Kilt being built after a bitter and divisive approval process only to have it fail, leaving the village with yet another building sitting empty and not generating revenue. We urge President Staackmann and the board to work with Mr. Mavrakis to build an establishment appropriate to all of our interests and beliefs. Add your voice! Here’s how: 1) Sign this petition 2) Contact President Staackmann and the village board of trustees: Dan Staackmann, President Village of Morton Grove 6101 Capulina Avenue Morton Grove, IL 60053 (847) 965-4100 [email protected]449 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Sarah B

Prevent War with IranDiplomacy remains the best option to resolve the current conflict with Iran. A military strike by Israel represents a threat to our security greater than that posed by Iran's alleged nuclear weapons program. Open the debatesDemocracy means nothing if people are not allowed to hear all the voices in a debate. Third party candidates should be allowed to participate in presidential debates, especially if they have qualified to be elected president.98 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Heckenlively
