• H.R 2309 Misses Mark on Postal Reform
The Issa-Ross bill fails to address real problems, attacks bargaining rights of workers. H.R 2309 is not a bill to save the Postal Service; it's a bill to destroy it.

  • End government secrecy and media monopolies
From diplomatic agendas resulting in attacks on foreign nations to information on UFOs, foods, drugs, vaccines or Fukushima fallout...Americans are kept in the dark. The media no longer questions government/corporate pronouncements or investigates critical issues or presents unbiased scientific opinion. National security has been used as an excuse for unprecedented secrecy, anathems to democracy. Freedom of information is at the governments discression.

  • Governor Brown: Stop wind turbine projects from being built on main migratory paths by major corp...
I live in Weldon, California. The North Sky River /Jawbone Wind Energy Project has started construction, though it was fast tracked through the EIR process. The project is being built on a main migratory path that goes through Kelso Valley on the way to the Audubon Preserve at the end of the road, a critical stopping point for migratory birds. This will be remembered as an environmental catastrophe if allowed to continue.

  • Nationwide "NO SMOKING" Policy at Hospitals, Clinics, and other Medical Related Facilities
This petition is to ask that people who smoke should not be able to do so on the grounds of medical related facilities, such as hospitals, clinics, or any other related. These are environments in supporting of positive health. It is difficult to me, as a non smoker, when I have to ask a smoker to move away from in front of the ER doors of a hospital due to cigarette smoking.

  • Stricter Laws Regarding Responsible Dog Ownership
I personally survived a vicious pit bull attack recently. Many breeds can be deadly, not just pit bulls. Thousands of innocent children and adults have suffered brutal and sometimes even fatal attacks from cute, yet potentially deadly, animals. I am calling for our leaders to adopt legislation that will help prevent these attacks from occurring as often. ***The Clifton study of attacks from 1982 through 2006 said that: Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Presa Canarios and their mixes were responsible for 65% of the canine homicides that occurred during a period of 24 years in the USA. (Clifton, Dog attack deaths and maimings, U.S. & Canada, September 1982 to November 13, 2006.)

  • Mandatory ID checks with Credit Card Usages
During my travels across the country, I use my credit card as a safe way to manage my money. On the back of my card for the signature, I have printed "See ID". I also attempt to show my ID and businesses never look or they tell me, "we don't check IDs". I ask, "so...if I come in and I happen to have your credit card and use it, it is okay because you all don't check?" In an time when identity theft is on the rise, one simple thing a business can do is check identification against the credit card. There should be a law in place across the country, consistently enforced.

  • Stop Belo Monte dam, save rainforest
Brazil's President, Dilma Rousseff, is launching construction of the world's third-largest dam in Belo Monte in the Amazon Rainforest, and plans for 59 more. This hydro-electric power station steals and destroys native lands, renders 40,000 people homeless, and threatens our global climate as well as extinction of rainforest animals.

  • Mr. President, Stop SB1070. Don't Deport Its Victims.
Arizona is headed toward a crisis, but the President can stop it immediately. Because of Sheriffs like Joe Arpaio in Maricopa County, Arizona is already known for its abuse of power and some of the worst racial profiling in recent history. Now that the Supreme Court has allowed parts of the anti-immigrant law, SB1070, to go into effect, Arizona will get even worse unless we move the President to act. The civil rights violations that will sky rocket in Arizona under SB1070 can only be carried out if the federal government willingly cooperates and processes SB1070's victims for deportation after Sheriffs like Arpaio round them up. The President can stop racial profiling, prejudiced policing, and the separation of families, by cutting off Arizona's access to federal immigration enforcement.

  • Protect investors from fraud
I am a victim of the Madoff fraud. I have been further victmized by SIPC, the agency created by the Congress in 1970 to insure investors for the securities they owned as stated on brokers' statement, in exchange for brokers no longer having to provide investors with paper certificates of ownership. Congress is now deliberating a new bill, HR 757, to clarify its intent to protect investors with the 1970 law. Investors should urge their congressional representatives to support HR 757 while this issue is being discussed.
