  • Sick of the Republicans with their hurting the country and the poor
It is obvious to me that the republican party have no problem with harming the poor and looking out for the rich. The republicans hate the president so much until they will harm the entire country just to get him out of office. I am so sick and tired of the mostly old white men who have been in office for in my judgement to long. The republicans have gone off the cliff and they are the party who started all the harm.

  • The War on Women Stops in Michigan
We were caught by surprise when we learned that "Super-Anti Abortion" bills from the Michigan House of Representatives were being fast tracked through a committee hearing and to voting on the floor. In just one week, House Bills 5711 - 5713 were approved by a committee that refused to hear testimony against the bills and made it to the floor of the Michigan House of Representatives. The day that these bills were supposed to be voted on, Michigan women flooded their capital and made their voices heard. The impact was strong enough for the legislators to slate voting for another day. Two days later, HB 5711 was voted in. During this voting session, two representatives spoke out against the bill and found themselves prohibited from speaking during the next session, even on topics not pertaining to abortion or women's rights. This silenced not only these representatives, but also their constituents. The women of Michigan will not be silent, despite the attempts of the bills' supporters to shut down dissenters. They spoke out again at the capital steps Monday, June 18 by hosting Eve Ensler and Michigan representatives that voted against these bills in a short notice, but heavily attended, rendition of the Vagina Monologues. These bills are only the most recent of state government attacks on women's health and reproductive rights. They have been called the most restrictive anti-abortion bills yet, and they would effectively shut down the vast majority of abortion clinics in the state. At each step, those that disagree with this set of bills have been silenced and ignored, but they are still shouting to make their voices heard. Please join us in telling the Governor of Michigan, Rick Snyder, and the Michigan Senate that attempting to silence the voices against these bills is undemocratic.

  • WalMart No Mas!
A former WalMart executive described how Wal-Mart de Mexico had orchestrated a campaign of bribery to win market dominance. In its rush to build stores, he said, the company had paid bribes to obtain permits in virtually every corner of the country. WalMart's leaders shut down an investigation. Under fire from labor critics, worried about press leaks and facing a sagging stock price, Wal-Mart’s leaders recognized that the allegations could have devastating consequences, documents and interviews show.

  • Overturn Citizens United
The influence of big corporate money in politics is undermining our democracy. The solution we want to see is a constitutional amendment saying that money isn't speech and corporations aren't people. I'm especially concerned because my two kids will be going to public school soon, and tax breaks for the 1% are cutting off resources for our public schools. The only way that will ever really change is with campaign finance reform, starting with overturning Citizens United.

  • Justice for Dadrian
My 14 yr old Nephew was accused of being a party to a crime. While walking through the neighborhood with a small group of teens. While in their presence, some of the other teens assaulted and robbed another teen. When arrested his name was given as being a party to a crime. After months of court dates, Dadrian was sentenced to 12 months at a youth detention Center on a first offense conviction. Dadrian's only crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong group of people. While this may certainly be seen as being punishable, His sentence is not suitable to his crime. Dadrian is a smart, young youth who has always respected his peers, elderly, and environment. He is also an honor roll student who participates frequently in after school and extracurricular activities. Being raised by a single mom he helps take care of his two younger siblings and attends church regularly. Dadrian is a strong young man who stands up for what he believes in and an even stronger man because he stands up for others. Even in doing so, consequently, he was wrongly accused based on his environment at the time instead of his environment as a whole.
