I envision a nation wide MonoRail system running down the middle of the Interstate Hwy system. Why on that right of way? The grading is already done, so are the interchanges and there are pylons in place to tie in the MonoRail pylons and the concrete rail bed. Consider the advantages: Employment for millions, concrete mfg, rail-car design & mfg, electric engine mnfg, train maintenance, system maintenance, dramatic reduction of fossile fuel consumption (airplanes consume incredible amounts), safety, ease of transit for families, lower cost of transit, movement of goods (required to use the system), taking long-haul trucks of the hwys, convenience, reduction of foreign oil consumption (Mid-east conflict eliminated), greenhouse gas reduction (affecting global warming), automobile reduction (those companies could build coach frames etc. instead) and drastic reduction of undue influence of "Big Oil"----and many other advantages.

Free speech is a fundamental right enshrined in the First Amendment of the US Constitution. On June 13th during a debate of House Bill 5711on the floor of the Michigan House, Representatives Lisa Brown and Barbara Byrum used the words vagina and vasectomy in their eloquent and courageous speeches. Apparently, these medically-correct terms are shocking to the Republicans who control all three branches of the Michigan government. As a result, Speaker of the House Jase Bolger along with Majority Floor Leader Jim Stamas have stripped these eminent legislators of their first amendment rights to free speech. No reason for their censure was given other than decorum must be maintained. No length of time for this punishment was provided. We demand that the censorship of Representatives Lisa Brown and Barbara Byrum be lifted immediately and that Speaker of the House Jase Bolger and Majority Floor Leader Jim Stamas issue a public apology to these outstanding and courageous women.

Maine people across our state are struggling to make ends meet. The last thing we need is a toll hike that makes it harder to get to work or school. I live ina city that is the Capital of the United States where I have lived sor the last forty years, paid taxes, voted and taught at a local University (George washington U.). Mackinac Island has endangered its own ferry services, first by threatening some with extinction, then charging them an exorbitant fee to transport Mackinac Island's residents and visitors to and from the island, in effect, charging admission to itself.

The employment at will law which covers most people in this country allows a company to fire an employee without cause. This is a corruption of the implied contract implicit in all jobs. Anybody care?
