Get rid of career politians. Create a high turnover rate where the common man can reach office NOT by how much money he has or can create BUT by his integirty and a willingness to serve ALL the people ALL the time.

It is a pledge petition. Those who sign pledge to not vote for any candidate who has the support of the billionaires who want to control the election results with unlimited money. Our elections are not for sale to the highest bidder.

The Illinois legislature wants to decrease pension benefits for those who are receiving a pension. This decrease in income will be a hardship for those who will have to choose between eating and buying medicine. Teachers have fulfilled their part by working and contributing for as much as 30 years. Now the legislature wants to void the Constitutional right which, according to the constitution will not be changed.

Big money has taken over politics to an even greater degree and the people have very little chance of changing that. We can, however, gain some needed resources to support education, economic development, and human services.

They lied about judicial activism. My concern is the return of this country to a plutocracy: with the rich in charge and the rest of us as serfs in a medieval feudal system. Corporations are NOT people. They should not be able to buy the election and destroy our democracy by wiping out the middle class.

Texas may approve billionaire Harold Simmons to build the largest nuclear waste sight in Texas above ground water that needed by four states. The site would accept nuclear waste from all around the country. Geologists say the dump will inevitably leak nuclear waste into the aquifers. Harold Simmons has donated $ millions to Republican causes and gave $1.2 million to Rick Perry for his Presidential campagne. He was disowned by his daughter for making campaign contributions in her name.

The Supreme Court's power needs to be checked. Amend the constitution such that: When a constitutional amendment is passed in order to overturn a Supreme Court ruling, the Chief Justice shall me demoted to a junior member of the court and the President shall choose a new Chief Justice.

Congress in Washington is making decisions that effect millions but it doesn't have any idea what the impact of those decisions are. Many in Congress want to eliminate the food stamp safety net for the working poor. Eating on a food stamp budget for a week would let them feel what poverty is really like. They need to realize that food stamp recipients are not living the easy life.

This petition is to call in President Obama and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, former cabinet member of President Obama to do Something to quell the violence in America's 3rd largest city. This isn't a problem in Africa, Asia or some distant place in the world, this is in our own Country! There have been 254 murders in Chicago to date and 154 soldiers killed in Afghanistan since the beginning of 2012. Something needs to be done. The President calls Chicago his Hometown and Rahm Emanuel is the mayor of Chicago. Can we not put some federal resources in place to help the citizens of Chicago?

We need a "United All Nations Education Weekend Festival" to educate our youth, adults and the community at large on the multiculturalism of America. As the first and former Executive Director of Multicultural Alliance of Virginia (MAVA), a need exists for us, as a people, to come together As One instead of living as strangers. People should sign the petition because it enriches our Cultural diversity in Virginia, thereby in doing so, we will be a trendsetter in making the Educational Festival a State Law.

Mayor Denson, City Manager Reddish, and the Athens-Clarke County Commission are considering a Public Curfew law. Originally discussed as an Urban Camping Law, the ACC are now broadening the scope of it. As it is now being discussed, the law would allow the Commission to set a closing time for all County-Owned (aka owned by the citizens of ACC) properties, including City Hall, the County Courthouse, all public monuments, parks, greenways, etc. and the grounds surrounding these buildings. This law would have serious implications for the homeless, infringe upon free speech and assembly rights guaranteed in the Constitution, and could even restrict tailgating for UGA football games. The law is admittedly being drafted in response to a protest in 2012 by Occupy Athens protesters. If enacted, this law could be used at the discretion of public officials and the police, to shut down unwanted protests, harass and arrest homeless individuals, or make any activities after dark in public spaces illegal. Most area homeless do not have anywhere to go. There are over 500 homeless individuals in Athens-Clarke County, with about 20% being children, but only 250 shelter beds available. What will the police and ACC do with these people if they are not aloud to be on any public property after dark? Let's stop this law together because we should encourage our residents to take advantage of our beautiful city not limit their ability to.
