The passenger side mirrors on cars that say "objects are closer than they appear", seem to be causing many near misses, if not actual accidents, by drivers who rely upon them to pull in after passing, rather than using their rear view mirror. In the past two weeks I have been run off the road once and nearly off two other times by people who rely upon this false sense of distance. Friends have all reported similar experiences. At the very least it would seem that the NTSB should look at the safety factor of the use of these mirrors on the passenger side.. What was the purported benefit to them in the first place?

The State of Illinois is the only state in this Country that does not recognize the rights of Violent Crime Victims and recently a effort by a organization call Marsy's Law made attempt to get Marsy's Law on our Illinois ballot, that would open the door for violent crime victims to have a say. There is a urgent need for us to sign and circulate this petition, so we can have a say in our own lives.

Most of the 50% who have managed to put away some retirement savings - not counting the top 1-2% - have these savings or investments in an IRA or a 401K. Money that we draw out is then taxed at the higher ordinary income tax rate - even if it all that money was invested for the long term in the types of risky investments that otherwise are rewarded with lower capital gain tax rates.. The top 1-2% percent have most of their money (as in 95-99%) where they pay no federal income tax or the lower capital gains rate. They use municipal bonds and Real Estate for investment and pay no tax or capital gains taxes – maybe a generation later – after they avoid any income tax. Fair is fair and it’s time for a level playing field. Those over 65 – below some income level say $100,000 and $200,000 (to get a lot of upper middle but still not wealthy savers) when withdrawing money to live on should see the first 5-6% taxed at a capital gains rate - the lower rate in all cases. This is simply fair and levels the playing field - and will encourage more of us to save for retirement. It is pure capitalism - but crony capitalism rules have created a situation where the IRAs and 401Ks not really used by the 1-2-3% are marketed to the rest of us – and then we are over taxed just as we start to use the money to pay the bills when we retire. Ask Congress to pass a law that for those below some income level – the first 5% annual withdrawal from an IRA or 401K (Middle and Upper Middle America’s savings location) not be pay the higher income tax then that of the 1-2-3%. Simple enough – set the rate at the capital gains rate or half that persons or families’ income tax rate.

In Roswell, there is widespread confusion about the details of Georgia's new Photo ID law. I believe that the state is at great risk of being under represented due to the confusion about new voting laws that have been put into place.People throughout Roswell need to be educated about the new requirements to vote in November. It is the obligation of the County Commissioners to run honest, efficient, and uniform elections. In order to do so, the County Commissioners should have a Photo ID Task Force in place by the July 31,2012 vote that's coming up on transportation needs in and around metro Atlanta so that everyone is well informed on what they will need to bring in order to vote in this and the many upcoming elections in November.Now is the perfect time to find out how a task force can help the voters be informed and prepared.

Occupy attempts to fix every little thing, instead of aiming at the heart of the problem. It dissipates it's energy and accomplishes far less than we need it to.

Jireh Lee Silva was this year's valedictorian at Wise High School in Upper Marlboro, Md., but she has no green card of her own -- and a recent hiccup interfered in processing her mother Nerisa's green card. Nerisa brought her daughter to this country four years ago legally, as a dependent under her visa. And while Jireh has dreams of becoming a doctor and has been accepted into a number of colleges, she doesn't have the means to pay for them. And Jireh can't apply for financial aid because she does not have a Social Security number. She says all the accolades she's worked to achieve mean nothing now that she can't stay in this country.
