• Food stamps - Use changes could be a way to healthier eating
When I look at the shopping carts of many people who are on food stamps, there is often so much unhealthy junk going home to feed their families. Obeisity, diabetes, heart problems and overall poor nutrition could be solved if there was a restriction on the what foods could be purchased with food stamps. With the exception of some staple items such as bread and pasta (whole wheat preferably) items should be limited to single ingredient foods: such as milk, eggs, meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, potatoes, whole grains. Yes, it may take some relearning in the cooking of more simple foods, but convenience foods with 15-20 or more mostly unpronouncable ingredients, artificial flavorings, food color and fillers are slowly killing our nation

  • Election of Supreme Court Justices
In recent years the Supreme Court's decisions appear more and more political. This is not likely to change. Hence we need to change the Constitution as follows. A person would be appointed a justice for a 10 year term. After 10 years, if he/she wished to continue, they would have to stand for nationwide election on an up or down vote.

  • Investigate Health Insurance Companies
Health Insurance Corporations are charging more and providing less to the insured. Each year people are noticing the loss of benefits, more restrictions, less medication coverage and "drive through" surgeries. Why accept this? Most people, especially the elderly are being held hostage by Health Insurance monopolies. We need to challenge them and investigate them!!

  • Stop Real Estate taxes for retired elderly people
I believe that the state of Virginia got the highest tax rates for the poor and retired elderly people. We all should be concerned especially if you have elderly parents, friends whom you care about, but can't afford to help them. Housing is important for the elderly; they shouldn't have to be placed in nursing homes, retirement homes because they can't afford the high cost of property and real estate taxes. They should be able to live out their days living in the home that they purchased and have the joy of living comfortably and being surrounded with their family and loved ones.

  • President Obama: Help Michelle Stop Childhood Obesity
Our overweight youth population is huge. President Obama has the chance to add a 5-minute desk training to his day that K-12 youth can emulate, to promote healthy mind, balanced heart and stress-free, strong body. Just as President John F. Kennedy lead the fitness trend by example and not decree, when President Obama gets involved, many youth will follow. We want this for our children and for the health of our nation.

  • US SENATE RULES = GUARANTEED GRIDLOCK
End the filibuster and the rule that requires 60% to pass a Bill does not serve the American Voters. It does, however "guaranty gridlock". Congress should not be allowed to place their in-house rules above the interests of The American People.

  • Shut down internet cafes or regulate them
Internet cafes are not providing full service internet access because they block sites like Facebook and they freeze constantly while on YouTube. They should offer computer training to seniors but instead they rob them by not giving back a percentage in winnings. The seniors are mislead to believe that they can win their money back. These places should be regulated or shutdown.

  • UNELECTED corporate power
I am increasingly concerned with the power exercised by the UNELECTED corporate executives. They spend a great deal of money influencing various issues at the state and local level. Particularly, I am alarmed by the broad corporate suppourt for groups like ALEC et al.

  • Chicken Little
Our endless skirmishes in the name of local dominance, religion, financial styles, even ecology, pale beside the Real Enemy, which is hurtling this way with all of our names on it. This is an international call to arms against Armageddon, or the next loopy rock from the celestial depths that has haunted our mythology since written communication began and no doubt before. We could lose all life on Earth, not to mention our own, if we do not organize all that lovely power we've accumulated in the name of mutual destruction and aim it where it will do us all some good, we will have failed in our real purpose on this planet and lost everything in the bargain.

  • STOP THE KILLING OF WOLVES
If the wolf is to survive, the wolf haters must be outnumbered. They must be outshouted, out financed, and out voted. Their narrow and biased attitude must be outweighed by an attitude based on an understanding of natural processes……David L. Mech
