When a woman has a preemie, her maternity leave is usually used going back and forth to the hospital to see her baby. By the time the child comes home from the hospital, the mother's maternity leave is over. The mother now has to figure out what to do with what is the equivalent of a newborn baby that most day cares will not take and the many required doctors' appointments. Preemie medical leave should be six weeks paid time off to be used when the preemie comes home from the hospital.

In 2006 , The Bush White House and Congress went after the Post Office with the " Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act" It requires the Post office to PRE-PAY the health care benefits for the NEXT 75 YEARS! This law requires USPS to totally fund SEVEN DECADES WORTH OF BENEFITS BY 2016!!! No other government or privately owned company is required to adhere to such a requirement. The Post Office is the #2 employer in the United States , employing 100,000 people with good union jobs. They are fully funded by the sale of stamps and related items. By forcing Hachette Book Group, HarperCollins, Macmillan, Penguin Group (USA), Simon & Schuster and Apple to abandon the agency plan (whereby a publisher sets the prices of its books and ebooks), DoJ allows Amazon to continue to sell below cost and thus destroy competition and become the publishers' only customer. The publishers are only defending themselves, authors and all booksellers against the Amazon leviathan.

My petition is for the government to lower or eliminate the high interest rate on student loans. I strongly urge people to sign up for this petition because for one, the house if considering increasing the interest rate on student loans in Colorado. So who"s next. The sooner we fight this the sooner we'll be able to reverse and or stop the high interest rates on student loans.

John Larsgard, a Norwegian student, has been sentenced to 7 1/2 years in prison for attempted murder. So what did he do? He accidentally drove down a street going the wrong way during a street festival. They surrounded the car, beat him up and threatened him. He called the local police in desperation but instead of helping him, they arrested him and charged him with attempted murder with a deadly weapon - his rental car. He spent 7 months in solitary confinement awaiting trial and was convicted today of attempted murder with a sentence of 7 1/2 years! He was convicted in this small town where the "witnesses" all agreed in lock step that he was trying to kill them. Poor guy was in fear of his life and was trying to get away from an angry mob. Oh did I mention, his mom was in the car with him?

We are now in the new millennium and it is again time to advance education of the masses to higher levels. Americans need to be competitive in the global market place. High school students need an incentive to graduate. Immigrants need a reward for their sworn citizenship. The United States needs every resource developed to its fullest potential. We, as Americans, face a wide and varied set of problems in this day and age. We have proven in the past that we can do anything and we can fix anything. We can do this together. We have the knowledge and the tools to solve our current problems. This monetary investment, for a better tomorrow, will yield greater results than any wall street bailout, peace enforcement, or extended war. We need more citizens working on these national and global issues. It is time to hand out the essential tools needed for building a competitive nation. It is time to pass down the knowledge and sound inventiveness to the next generation. To ensure we are successful as a nation we need to do things the American way by investing in our children, our citizens, and our future. We need to Advance to K - Associates Degree . We need to demand it of our government.

The privatization of prisons creates strong incentives to shape the justice system in ways that increase arrests, convictions, and sentences. We have seen ALEC engage in this type of activity and a judge in Arizona was convicted of taking bribes to alter the sentences he gave. Prisons should not be privatized.

Requiring a super-majority even to bring a bill to the floor of the Senate for a vote is obstuction raised to the level of an art form. Bring back the Constitutional principle of majorities ruling.

We must act now to tell New York that we will not stand by as insurance companies bankrupt consumers from oftentimes vital and life-saving out-of-network healthcare coverage.
