Save Philadelphia Public SchoolsWe want the State of Pennsylvania to increase funding to Philadelphia public schools. Our children are losing academic programs, school nurses, teachers, support staff, teacher's aides, custodians, and bus drivers all due to Governor Tom Corbett's budget cut to public schools. Without state funding our children will lose the opportunity to receive the education they deserve.53 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Charlotte Tucker

Proposed Reduction of State Income TaxThe proposed reduction of state income tax sounds great but once one reads the details it is not going to benefit any retirees which includes state, federal and military personnel. There is going to be lost revenue due to reduced tax rates and in order to recoup that revenue all "loopholes" in the form of all credits, deductions, and exclusions on personal income tax returns will be eliminated. Presently, most retirees have no state tax liability for retirement benefits and federal taxable social security income. The result of this legislation will cause immediate taxation of all retirement income for all retirees effective 1 Jan 2013.442 of 500 SignaturesCreated by gayle ferioli

Limit Corporate Contributions to Political CandidatesUnlimited contributions from corporations, unions, and other organizations to political candidates harm the ability of average citizens to have a voice in their own government. Prior to the landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, unlimited independent expenditures from corporations and unions were prohibited. Now, corporations and unions can make unlimited independent expenditures supporting or opposing a candidate for office, and unless the U.S. Supreme Court changes this ruling, the only way to reverse the harmful effects of the decision is to amend the Constitution of the United States.1,374 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Representative Les Gara

Clean Renewable Energy InitiativesBegin aggressive efforts to put all clean AND renewable energy technologies on the table for immediate phasing in efforts that will discourage continued fossil fuel exploitation including drilling for oil, natural gas and mining of "clean" coal. The real clean renewable technologies should include solar, wind, hydrogen, geothermal, electromagnetic, anti-gravity and zero point energy alternatives.20 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alan Halverson

Single Issue Campaign: Get Money Outta Politics! The political and economic culture of the United States is in crises. Our political candidates and public discourse--ultimately, our public policy, laws, and legal enforcement--are being sold to the highest bidder. While Arabs shed blood for citizen involvement in government, the United States government is being sold to the highest private bidder. A tsunami of decisions to legalize social welfare for the rich--cumulatively, trillions of dollars in subsidies, bailouts, and tax breaks to the wealthiest human and corporate citizens--has "trickled down" as national debt. Repayment of the debt is literally coming from the life force of millions of W2 workers who don't have opportunity to claim deductions like those available to the wealthiest Americans and to corporate America. As stewards of United States citizens, the government must not become a tax-collecting, law making, law enforcing agent for the super rich. (We do not include local businesses and the local Chamber of Commerce here, as they are accountable to their local community.) Our concern is for the government's increasing collusion with the wealthiest Americans and the largest corporations, benefiting private interests with tax dollars. Our tax dollars are offered (or extorted) from the government in sums unimaginable to most Americans, with few conditions and little accountability attached. This trend is shifting resource to fuel a global Aristocracy: a modern wave of powerful, profit-motivated, self-interest organizations that use state and national governments to advance private interests. As elected representatives at the state and federal level, we ask that you become conscious and intentional with every decision you make. Consider many generations to come before taking a position or committing to a faction with your vote. Vote on behalf of every beloved citizen of this Country, whether rich or poor, and help us regenerate and secure our United States.34 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Paula Manor

Why should they be discourage with this stupid tactic. Why, because the fear of Pres. Obama being President og these United States again.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by DYANNE FAISON

Support Guatemalan president's call for drug legalizationOn Saturday February 11th, Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina declared that, following discussions with Colombian President Santos, he will present a proposal for drug legalization in Central America at the April 14-15 Summit of the Americas. Guatemalan Vice-President Roxana Baldetti will begin a tour of Central America to discuss the proposal with regional leaders and garner support for it, starting with Panama, Costa Rica and Salvador on February 29th. Unsurprisingly, the move was greeted by a quick rebuke from the US government. President Molina’s initiative is unprecedented and marks the first time since the launching of the War on Drugs by Richard Nixon in 1971 that a foreign head of state actively challenges the US-led policies of drug prohibition and try to build a coalition against it. A former general of the Guatemalan army, President Molina has impeccable credentials to launch such a move: he was elected in November 2011 on a law-and-order platform, pledging to restore security to the country. Guatemala is on the major transit route from Colombia to the US and drug violence has exploded there over the past few years, turning this already impoverished and unstable country into one of the most dangerous countries in the world. We all need to show our support to President Molina and his potential Latin American allies. We also need to put pressure on the Obama administration to ensure that it doesn’t stall Molina’s proposal, and that it allows a truthful debate to take place at the April 14-15 Summit of the Americas and beyond.7,658 of 8,000 SignaturesCreated by Jeffrey Dhywood

Protect Our Vote, NebraskaThe Nebraska legislature is set to debate a voter ID bill today. We know that the bill, LB 239, makes it harder for Nebraskans to vote while racking up costs to fix a problem we don't have. Our state senators need to know Nebraskans do not support costly bills that make it harder for us to vote. Counties estimate they could spend $200,000-$600,000 more per election just to implement voter ID. About 10% of Nebraskans do not have photo ID. We all know grandparents who no longer drive or folks who use public transportation that simply do not have a government-issued photo ID. LB 239, the voter ID bill, will be up for a debate today or tomorrow. We need to let state senators know before they vote on advancing the bill that Nebraskans will not accept our constitutional right to vote being taken away.1,319 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Jane Fleming Kleeb
