Starting in June 2011 the motor vehicle administration has begun the practice of state tax collection. It is rediculious to pair the renewal of your drivers or license plates withdeliquent taxes. Thereby turning the MVA into an aggressive debt collection agency funded by our tax dollars. Furthermore there are NO known explinations of this law or any exemptions, which should be available to the public and both the comptrollers office and the MVA direct you to the other agency when you have questions.

California like many states have an out of control system for the financing of elections. We need to create a system to take the influence away from the big money lobbies who dont have the best interests of our beautiful state in mind.

Many people that went to college over the last decade have outrageous student loan debt. Many of them are so far in debt that they may never be able to repay all of the loans. Still others, like me, have student loans that are in default. We need to fix this problem by getting Congress to change the bankruptcy laws regarding student loans as well as returning the Truth In Lending rights to student loans. Student loans should not be a form of debtor punishment or debtor prison. The Constitution gives all Americans the freedom not to be put into a debtor prison; however, the current federal student loan laws are crippling many people with student loans that they cannot afford to repay (I became permanently disabled in 2006, and my only income is my Social Security Disability; I do not receive a benefit amount that can afford me the ability to make payments on my student loans. The student loan lenders have the ability to torture borrowers with default penalty fees (I was charged $25,000!), outrageous interest rates similar to high rates on credit cards as well as demanding monthly payments that are not inline with the borrower's income.

Nuclear weapons do not provide security, they increase international insecurity. When one nation has a nuke, it encourages nuclear proliferation in neighboring countries. They are morally, economically and environmentally destructive!

The Georgia House of Representatives has proposed HB 981 which will allow license holders to carry concealed weapons into public schools, including universities, among other places. This petition is to support HB 981, and encourage the Georgia House to approve it ASAP. The bill is just an extension of current gun laws to allow anyone over the age of 21 that passes a background check to obtain a license to conceal arms, it does not grant the right to new people, it just extends current rights.

Seattle Central Community College's Film and Video program has been a bright source of solid training and immense talent for our state's film and video industry for 26 years! Tragically, this legendary program is being cut in 2012. We are calling on SCCC's President Dr. Paul Killpatrick, Chancellor Jill Wakefield, and the Board of Trustees to stand for this vital and relevant technical program. Allow all local governments to move away from property taxes to sales and income taxes as a fairer tax structure. Taxing perceived wealth is old an antiquated tax structure. Its time local governments tax structure are updated to the 21st century. HB 2230 will allow every county in Pennsylvania to have a referendum question for a 1% county sales tax to reduce school district millage rates. It will also allow every local government entity, from county to school district to levy their own Earned Income Tax (EIT) or Personal Income Tax (PIT) to provide a minimum 30% reduction in their property tax millage rates to complete elimination. If a local government decides to do reduce property tax millage rates, then their rates are frozen at the level and they can raise their income tax rates based on inflation. For school districts, they will be locked into Act 1 of Special Session of 2001. This is a comprehensive approach to ending the property tax system and moving local governments to a fair and transparent taxing system. No tax should have the ability to make you homelsess!
