New Mexico's Senate is considering a memorial opposing the United States Supreme Court's controversial Citizens United decision which now allows unlimited spending by corporations in elections. The legislation passed the New Mexico State House on January 31, and if approved by the Senate, would place our state on record as the 2nd state in the nation to oppose the ruling (a constitutional amendment would eventually return to the 3/4s of the states for ratification). Senators have the option of signing on as cosponsors of this legislation, and so should we. They are exposed to chemicals that maim and kill. The factories pollute. Apple is making billions in profits and should come home and invest in American workers, now!

Texas implemented this program in the latter part of 2007. On February 3rd, the Virginia House decided to backtrack and make discrimination legal when it comes to adoption. After this law is passed, private and faith-based organizations will be legally protected from denying anyone the right to adopt or foster based on age, sexual orientation, political beliefs, disability, gender, family status or religion. We need to call on Governor Bob McDonnell and the state Senate for voices of moderation and reason by not signing this bill into law.

I know many people that bought Real Estate (including one family member) with the advise of a Real Estate Office and were advised by this office Lawyer to make the purchase under a corporation name. I do not know the reason for this ill advise but now those homeowners can not refinance under more favorable terms because the banks consider those properties as commercial real estate. I believe the government should differenciate between a large corporation and a single individual that incorporated to buy the property.
