Garrett County Maryland is only one of hundreds of Counties across our Nation that is considered an Orphan County by the Federal Communication Commission. As an Orphan County, we do not have the opportunity to view Television Stations from our own State. Thousands of Garrett County residents would like to see local news and sports from the Washington DC and Baltimore MD area but because of the FCC rules, we cannot. While Medford's population increased a mere 3.5% in 10 yrs., its budget rose 51% from 2001-2011. The town officials have ruined our finances through terrible fiscal mismangement. We have had enough! We protest the proposed elimination of weekly garbage pick up. If this goes through, we'd have to pay an additional fee for private garbage pick up...this is outrageous !

The Postmaster General has spent the last few years telling congress and America that the postal service is losing billions of dollars. He has asked for sacrifices from his employees, he has requested the raising of prices, and he has stated that he needs to close thousands of Post Offices across the country. Yet, recently he approved an agency rule that allows Postal executives to use postal funds to purchase hard liquor and wine for business meetings, etc.

How can the American middle class get the Congress To Pass President Obamas Jobs Bill. This Country is hurting without JOBS! Americans need income to pay their bills! Americans should be able to enjoy life like the one percent! What will it take to get Congress to act fast!

What started with the Susan G. Komen Foundation's attack on Planned Parenthood has only escalated. Now Rick Santorum says the purpose of prenatal testing is to increase abortions. It's outrageous! "One of the mandates [of health care reform] is they require free prenatal testing in every insurance policy in America. Why? Because it saves money in health care. Why? Because free pre-natal testing ends up in more abortions and therefore less care that has to be done, because we cull the ranks of the disabled in our society." --Rick Santorum, February 18, 2012 Tell Rick Santorum prenatal testing isn't a gateway to abortion. It is basic health care for women! Prenatal testing is used in many ways. It determines the mother's blood type and Rh factor, whether she has anemia, whether she has infections such as toxoplasmosis, hepatitis B, syphilis, chlamydia, and HIV, and whether she is immune to rubella (German measles) and chicken pox. While it is true that in a tiny minority of cases, prenatal testing finds conditions that may lead to a choice to terminate a pregnancy, it is much more frequently true that the information gleaned from prenatal testing uncovers conditions that can be, and need to be, treated promptly. This is crucial to addressing any and all of the issues that face us and particularly the most pressing and potentially divisive.

The recent US Supreme Court decision allowing freedom of speech rights to Corporations was not what the 1st Amendment intended. Corporations are not people, they do not vote, they do not have representatives in Congress, they do not need the US Constitution to provide rights to them. This amendment would clarify that the first amendment rights to free speech only apply to living human beings.

When President Obama ran for President in 2008, he said he would leave Medical Marijuana regulation in the hands of the states that have legalized it. Now the DOJ and the IRS are conducting a war on the medical marijuana industry without any explanation. Marin County's oldest dispensary was forced to close when the DOJ threatened their landlord with seizure of the property. Please stand with the majority of Americans who want medical marijuana legalized!

Climate scientist James Hansen proposes a tax on carbon fuels at the source, where the fuel is produced. See http://www.columbia.edu/~jeh1/2009/WaysAndMeans_20090225.pdf. The tax money would be returned to legal U.S. residents to spend as they choose. Prices of carbon fuel would go up, creating an incentive to use less, while the money returned to residents offsets the higher price. Unlike a simple gasoline tax, under which proceeds go to state or federal coffers, this plan compensates residents for the tax they pay, so an excessive burden does not fall on the poor.

Every PG&E customer was compelled to switch to the Smart Meter. Recently, as a result of organized public outcry against potential detrimental health effects and privacy invasion posed by the new meters, PG&E has decided to offer to switch customers back to the analog meters, upon request. The hitch: A $75 fee to switch the meter back, plus an additional fee of $10 per month! Those who did not want the Smart Meter to begin with must now pay to have the safer analog meter reinstalled and read. Make PG&E reverse all charges! The public should not be financially penalized for having their safer power source restored.

This petition is about stopping one of the many excesses of our elected officials that they would rather keep out of the public discourse. They give themselves pay raises without any oversight. Never paying into the social security system and all of it at our taxpayers expense.
