TUSD: Rescind the Book BanStudents in Tucson Unified School District recently had their books taken away as part of the state's elimination of the Mexican-American Studies program. Books removed included works by Leslie Marmon Silko, bell hooks, Sherman Alexie, Winona LaDuke...even Thoreau and Shakespeare. Let's call on TUSD to uphold free speech and stop preventing Arizona students from the right to think critically about their shared history, cultural identities, and complex future.18 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Liz Durant

Save Costs on Prescription DrugsThe United States and New Zealand are the only countries allowing prescription drug advertising on television. This is great for drug companies, advertising agencies, and television networks. The latter depends more and more on the revenues of those ads, but aren't you getting tired of hearing all those ads? If the ads were banned, the high cost of TV advertising would be saved by the pharmaceutical companies, which in turn, should bring drug costs down considerably. Let's put more money in our pockets, and join the rest of the world!44 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Camilla Bowman

Keep the internet freeStop SOPA and PIPA being passed. Corporations whose lobbyists drafted SOPA and PIPA want the ability to block you from reaching any web site they feel hurts their profits -- without due process, or review in any court -- by hijacking DNS (!) and censoring search results. Hoping you won't notice until it's too late, Congress is preparing to give them that right.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jonas Eddy

Federal/State action needed for Urgent Reform of Student Loans 10 years and olderStudent loans has for decades been back-breaking for numerous people, some like myself. Most of us (who had no other way to get an education) had taken on these loans with all intentions of repaying them, but later found that for one reason or another, we could not attract the type of employment (coupled w/unreasonable interest rates we were forced into) that would allow us to make what became inflated payments. Based on the state of the economy, one way of assisting some of us would be for govt/lenders to forgive/significantly reduce the loans based on; (1) past payment history,(2) amt repaid (3) ability to repay.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Renford45

Stop Television Airing of Negative Super PAC Election AdsWith the advent of Super PACs after the Citizens United decision we have seen millions upon millions of dollars spent by Super PACs in the first three primary states. These ads are invariably negative in character and are played incessantly during election cycles to the point of mind numbness. The negativeness of these ads is disavowed by candidates since theoretically the Super PACs are out of their direct control and the truthfulness is often suspect. Although required to disclose donors, Super PACs routinely postpone disclosure until well after the elections they participate in. We feel that the monies for these negative ads would be better spent on the poor or on paying down the national debt.20 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alfred Sasiadek

STOP DENYING VETERANS BENEFITSThe VA has a program called Compensated Work Therapy (CWT), it provides Vets, who have certain issues, with a therapeutic job in order to help them continue their lives and prepare for work in the private sector. While Congress and the IRS has provided tax free exemptions for these positions what good does it do if the VA will not provide the jobs so Vets can take advantage of these provisions? The Dayton VA has consistently denied Vets this benefit via employees not doing there jobs or finding reason to deny the Vet access to this benefit. EXAMPLE: The Bedford Ma VA has over 800 of these positions, the Houston VA has over 500 but the Dayton VA has only 25 jobs. For the past 6 years they have had only 8-10 jobs. These people consistently refuse to provide these benefits! As a result of my protests against these denials I have been ostracized and singled out for complete denial of anything other than Physical healthcare and it is time these people provided these benefits to America’s Vets. With so many returning war Vets this problem is going to be astronomical. I need your help to end these denials and fix this problem.9 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Darrell Hampton

Keep people in their homes!During this great economic struggle when many people have signifcant loss of income due to hardships and are forced into fore-closure or short-sale, we are asking the banks to modify mortgages and reduce the principal balance to the current market value as well as the interest rate to the going rate. Though, these people will take a significant hit to their credit, the banks will not be taking over homes in much needed repair and other huge costs. --The current 'loan modifications' are not making a difference, just prolonging the inevitable. -The reduction in mortgages and principal will make a great difference in the spiraling downfall of the housing market.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Christine Wunderli

Repeal Citizens United and curtail Corporate PlutocracyI am concerned that GOP/Corporate-centered, Supreme Court favored decision in Citizens United will consolidate Corporate Plutocracy in America. As such, the Citizens United decision must be effectively repealed in order to protect American democracy equitably at all levels.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ralph Porfido

Stand up to friendly's restaurantFriendly's Restaurant recently shut down a portion of its stores. They did it in the middle of the night with no notice to its employees. When they came in that morning the doors were locked with no explanation. Once again the greedy corporations thinks they can do what they want to the struggling middle class. Organize a protest at one of the still remaining places, call them, or write the ceo a letter and of course boycott them, till, the fairly compensate the employes.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Russell Se

Term Limits for CongressSenators & congresspeople should not be allowed to serve more than 2 terms in office. They become complacent, lazy, & vulnerable to corruption & corporate handouts. They need to be reminded who put them in office.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Arlene A. Dodd
