• Fight San Diego Gas & Electric Co's Attack on Solar Electric and Regular Customers
San Diego Gas & Electric already has some of the most expensive rates in the country. Regardless, they are currently lobbying officials to dramatically increase fees to regular customers, and at the same time create all new fees for solar users. Please sign this petition that will be sent to our elected officials (and The California Public Utilities Commission) asking them to oppose SDG&E's rate hikes. By signing you may help curb the cost of your future electric bill while also helping the environment by denying SDG&E the ability to inhibit the use of solar electricity.

  • Stop Philadelphia Curfew
Philadelphia's City Council seems set on passing an outrageous curfew law that violates a number of civil liberties -- this law aims to keep African-American youth out of more affluent white neighborhoods, further expands the mayor's ability to avoid the democratic process and create his own laws, and makes it illegal for all adults to take young relatives such as nieces or nephews out to enjoy the City of Brotherly Love. We believe that no citizen should fear the police harassment or detainment of innocent children. We're calling on the City Council to stop the expansion of the curfew through Bill 110633 and end the attacks on Philadelphia's future.

  • Make Election Day a National Holiday
As a representative republic we have a very low turn out of registered voters. Even in hotly contested presidential elections, it is only about 60%. By making election day a national holiday it will increase the situational awareness of the importance of elections and make access to the polls easier for many Americans.

  • Tell Dr. Pepper that women can handle any drink they put out!
Dr. Pepper recently came up with a new "bold" flavor that is noted as being "manly". Now, there's a Facebook application chock full of misogynistic games and time-wasters. A new Facebook application put out by Dr. Pepper Bold has the tagline “It’s not for women”. On the page, (that was until recently, not able to even be accessed by women), it has a “man grade” quiz (where your abilities in pursuits such as baseball, jump starting cars, and quoting movies are put to the test), a man video section (chock full of clips that contain things that “women don’t understand”, a manly shooting gallery (where the object is to destroy high heels, unicorns, and rainbows among other “feminine” items), and “man-cronyms” With a tagline "It's not for women", Dr. Pepper has crossed the line, and is promoting sexism.

  • Congressional Reform Act of 2012
The actions taken by Congress must be felt by Congress. Why should they be any different than us?

  • Let's take back our country !
An e mail has been circulating for the past weeks, and suddenly it dawned on me that it was being read by lots of Americans who all agreed on its premises, but it needed publicity in order to reach the ears of our legislators. In order to enact the change that Occupy Wall Street is demonstrating to achieve, this would be the perfect platform to combine action with a plan

  • The Patriot Tax: Support a Soldier
The nightmare of the Iraq War is finally coming to an end. Our soldiers will need jobs--lots of jobs, here at home. It's time to start serious investment in our own country's infrastructure if we want to thrive in the 21st Century. Every member of the fortunate, wealthy elite who have reaped, either directly or indirectly, so much profit from war must now pay their fair share in support of those who fought. The time has come for a Patriot Tax, in effect a sponsorship of every returning soldier. America is lagging far behind the rest of the civilized world in technologies such as high-speed rail, renewable energy, and even simple road and bridge maintenance. While we have been destroying and rebuilding overseas, America is crumbling. Do not allow our brave soldiers to come home to yet another nightmare of joblessness and despair. We can support our troops and rebuild America at the same time. It's the moral, patriotic thing to do.

  • Buying Back our Jobs ($5 at a Time!)
This is not a petition for or against any entity. It is a declaration by people and a pledge that they will take a small simple action to improve the economy and create jobs by diverting $5 of their weekly budget to buy the same items but AMERICAN MADE rather than foreign. 100,000,000 people doing this would pump $500,000,000 dollars a week into our economy. American factories could buy more supplies and hire workers. Workers would buy products and pay taxes as would companies. This is totally patriotic and not at all political and we are not waiting for our government to quit arguing and actually do something!

  • Tax Wall Street and Eliminate the Deficit
This would be a very simple but effective way to put the burden of economic recovery directly on the institutions and individuals who caused our problem—Wall Street. The current protests against big banks and rich people have nothing to offer except frustration. If they adopted this plan as a cause, they could actually contribute something positive—something that would work.

  • Supreme Court: Reverse the Citizens United decision
Citizens United means corporation are people and therefore can vote. Corporations are a group of lobbyists and should not be able to vote. They can back their vote up with millions of dollars, the average person cannot back their vote with millions of dollars. They are stealing our democracy.
