Steve Shurtleff: Stand up For the Women of the NH LegislatureMany of us have watched while on the state and the national stage public discourse has devolved into very public attacks against any individuals who cross Trump's path or oppose him or his followers. The state of New Hampshire has a sad history of harassment, especially from the right and within the walls of the state legislature. The current national climate has only given license to those parties who engage in harassing women, people of color and others who do not fit the "conservative" social narrative. We have noticed in particular, in the state house, a particular vitriol reserved for women members of the state legislature. From the current harassment and belittlement (calling her princess, telling her she is stupid, weak, receiving death threats, harassment directed at her being a woman, etc.) of Debra Stevens, to the the constant harassment and demands for censure of Representative Sherry Frost (Strafford, 18) that have occurred during her terms. The type of vicious harassment that women experience resembles the type of harassment many women experienced thirty years ago when they entered non-traditional employment. Today, nearly every place of employment has a sexual harassment policy in place. Today, nearly all workers and professionals everywhere have no problem working with women as colleagues and professional partners. The number of women in the state legislature has increased profoundly this past session, reflecting the increased participation across the board of women in public life. Yet only this session was a sexual harassment policy finally put in place; after solid repeated resistance when the House was GOP controlled. Those same members who voted against a sexual harassment policy now not only associate with those who regularly harass female members of the house, but these same members make a plea to Steve Shurtleff, claiming they feel harassed and misrepresented when a member shares her a story about the behavior of anti-gun control activists. They make this plea after they all deliberately assembled on Representative Steven's Facebook political page with the sole purpose of harassing her. They make this plea after the first vote of the Democratic controlled house which banned handguns on the state house floor caused a few state representatives to call a press conference claiming that they feel unsafe at the state house without a gun by their side. Yet they have had no problem associating with those who issue death threats, harass, cajole, bully and abuse their opponents, in particular women. Women who do not carry guns anywhere and yet have plenty of reason to feel unsafe everyday; just for their duty as state representatives and representing the issues the way the majority of their constituents who sent them there wish them to do. We feel that speaking up to these bullies is important and Steven Shurtleff showing leadership on this issue is absolutely essential. No state legislator or American citizen should ever feel their life might be in danger or their dignity or social good standing be jeopardized, simply for having a certain point of view. In particular, we ask that Speaker Shurtleff speak specifically as well to the harassment that the women on the Democratic side of the aisle have received for speaking their minds.167 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Kathryn Talbert

No more illegal wars: #CancelSOTU until we have full debate on Trump's war powersDonald Trump has put our country and the entire world on the edge of a catastrophic war in the Middle East by launching attacks against based on reportedly questionable evidence [See https://twitter.com/rcallimachi/status/1213421769777909761]. Trump is so out of control that he is now repeatedly threatening to commit war crimes by Iranian targets of cultural heritage. Destroying a country’s sites of cultural significance is classified as a war crime by not only the United Nations and the Geneva Convention, but also by Trump’s own Department of Defense per section 5.18 in its Law of War Manual. [https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/trump-threatens-to-destroy-irans-culturally-significant-sites-thats-considered-a-war-crime]. We are at this dark period of our country history because up until now House Democrats have not recognized the urgency of all our resistance against Trump. This is why they essentially gave him a blank check by approved a massive defensive spending bill before the Holidays which included funding for Trump's fantasy space force. Time is now for Speaker Pelosi and House Democratic Leadership to wage an all out resistance against Trump - and force him to back away from plunging us into a global catastrophe bringing destruction and losses of thousands of innocent of lives. Enough is enough. Congress cannot let Trump wage wars like a Tyrant without authorization. Democrats must do everything in their power to resist Donald Trump's reckless and dangerous march towards an all out catastrophic war against Ira by grinding the House of Representatives to a complete halt. Sign the petition urging Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats to immediately stop deliberation on all legislation related to government funding and cancel Trump's appearance at the State of the Union (#CancelSOTU) until we have real debate and hearings on Trump's war powers. No more Illegal wars. We need to speak out now. The louder we get - the more more it will create public pressure on Pelosi and Democrats to act and it will give them courage to resist.263 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Murshed Zaheed

Bring back my school Wymore TechIt's important to capture the minds of preteens and teenagers coming into man or womanhood. I really feel that a high school education should provide a young person a real chance at success. It's so unfortunate that a lot of millennials don't want to contribute to society by earning their keep. But I don't put the blame completely on the youth. Do to broken homes, minds, spirits, and poor parenting skills and a failing education system. We have so many young people rushing to be nothing, or a ball player, rapper, or drug dealer. So I've took upon myself to start petitioning to bring back vocational high schools starting with the one I graduated from in 1992 . Wymore Tech gave us opportunity to learn various different skills that captured students interest. Also it brought about a certain pride an admiration about yourself. That made your education the most important thing in your life. Knowing once you graduate you will have a certified trade, for a better chance at employment opportunities. So i DaShan Magwood would greatly appreciate it if you would take the time to care for the youth and sign my petition and take this journey with me. Thank You80 of 100 SignaturesCreated by DaShan Magwood

Revise Current Electoral System to Make U.S. Presidential Elections More RepresentativeAs can be seen by the Presidential elections of 2000 and 2016, the current Electoral system can elect a candidate who receives a smaller portion of the popular vote. While this seems inherently unfair, there are those that feel that without the protection of the Electoral College, larger, more populous states would have the ability to dominate the smaller states and render their voices mute. This new proposal keeps the current protection of the smaller states. They receive the same number of votes, but it eliminates the inherent unfairness of the current winner-take-all system. This ensures that a conservative voter in a conservative district in an otherwise liberal state (or vice versa, a liberal in a conservative state) would actually have a voice in the presidential election, it would matter how they vote. Since every vote would matter, it would encourage more people to vote.50 of 100 SignaturesCreated by James Herrmann

18 for military but not tobacco? This is important because people that have already become addicted to cigarettes, cigars, snuff, chewing tobacco and vaping will have to cold turkey which has been proven to potentially cause hazards to their health. Its also not a fair law to a lot of the citizens, I know countless students going straight from high school to the military, oilfield or mines. From personal experience working in oilfields/mines since I was 18 those 30+ hours days and what oilfielders face is incredibly stressful and tiring. Nicotine can help those workers stay awake where they can't drink any energy drinks at all because several companies in Gillette do not allow energy drinks so it keeps oilfielders calm and cool headed as well as awake. The impact on energy production could potentially decrease heavily if 18 year olds in the oilfield can't perform safely and get injured and or killed. Its also an unfair law because if a person is old enough to defend their country and people they should be able to come back home and have a cigarette with family or friends. My main question is how do they plan on containing the age to 21? All individuals that know anyone 21 or older still have access to tobacco all a person has to do is ask a parent or friend or partner. This law is completely pointless, the law should be directed towards juuls, homemade vape products and homemade THC products. The homemade products are incredibly dangerous because they are not made correctly and people can put anything in them. Juuls are extremely dangerous because one Juul pod is equivalent to 20 cigarettes being smoked at once according to truth initiative. They also contain benzoic acid which an FDA approved vape juice doesn't. The vape juice i use is made by trained professionals and sold all over the USA my entire 60 ml bottle contains 36 mg of nicotine in total. I have been vaping since I turned 18 and I haven't seen any sign of health problems caused by my vaping. I know several people that have been vaping for 5+ years and have no sign of health problems. Its not the broad spectrum of vaping that's the problem its the salt nic, juuls and homemade juices that is the problem. This law also got 10 people I know of fired from a job because they weren't old enough to use it so they weren't old enough to sell it. Its completely unfair to teenager starting out and trying to avoid drugs and alcohol. Not all people wanna start their career path in fast food like many in the past and vape stores and gas stations are great starting jobs so this law is forcing teenagers starting out Into very specific jobs. When I first turned 18 I had a child on the way and fast food wouldn't cut it so I went to gas stations and made enough to take care of my family so anyone in a similar situation might be in trouble for the simple fact that they can't sell tobacco or use tobacco in general.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Adrian Norris

Fair Impeachment TrialThis action is important because in recent weeks, the majority party in the senate including its leadership, Senator McConnell, have stated and implied they do not intend to honor their required oath of impartiality. This trial is the only recourse that the citizens of the United States have in an effort to determine if a president of the United States has committed high crimes or misdemeanors worthy of removal from office. This is not a political sideshow; rather it is a basic expression of our democratic power and will as citizens of the United States. It must not become a mockery of justice or our Constitution.19 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Max Soucia
