  • Stop Trump's Fake National Emergency. No Racist Wall. No Power Grab.
The only crisis at the border is the humanitarian crisis fueled by the Trump administration's attacks on immigrants, separation of families, and criminalization of asylum-seekers. Yet, Trump—in his crusade for a racist, wasteful, unpopular wall—is now planning to declare a fake "national emergency" to seize broad executive power to circumvent Congress and grab funds from other agencies for his wall. The American public does not want this wall and Congress doesn't want to fund it. So Trump, who has been attacking immigrants as a core part of his governing agenda, is now taking extraordinary action to disregard Congress and the Constitutional balance of power. Even Republicans have said this would be vast overreach. Fortunately, there is a Congressional remedy—under the National Emergencies Act, Congress can vote to cancel the state of emergency. Congress can, and must, act now.

  • Thank you, Stacey Abrams!
Stacey Abrams delivered a response that offered more truth about our country and a more powerful vision than the State of the Union Address itself! She reminded us what an inclusive, kind, and experienced leader looks like—in a rebuke to the lies, vitriol, and desperate authoritarianism of Trump's own speech. And in doing so, she provided a model for other progressive champions that is principled, values-based, and compelling. Thank you, Stacey Abrams—for speaking for all of us, for listening to the needs of the American people who suffer from voter suppression, who want a government accountable to the people, and who appreciate a champion committed to fighting for us every day! We stand with Stacey Abrams and her vision for our country. Once this petition receives 50,000 signatures I will make sure it gets *personally* delivered to Stacey Abrams!

  • SC wants Lindsey Graham to Protect Mueller
UPDATE: Robert Mueller has just submitted his report on Donald Trump's potential collusion and obstruction of justice. His official findings have been sent to Trump's Attorney General William Barr. This is our moment. Graham must support legislation to force Barr to make Mueller's report and underlying findings public. If he continues to block and conceal the report, we must take to the streets. The House voted 420 to 0 to release the Mueller report. But Lindsey Graham is blocking it in the Senate, saying "I'm just making a political point." We need to make sure he gets the point, and call on him to take action NOW. It is imperative that Congress protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller to ensure that he is able to complete his investigation and release the full report on his findings to the public. So far, Mueller's investigation has turned up eight guilty pleas and twenty-nine indictments, the most recent being Trump's longtime adviser, Roger Stone. Stone's arrest proves that Mueller's investigation continues to be effective and that there is still more to come. Mueller must be allowed to keep working until the investigation is complete, at which point his findings should be released to the public. We have a right to know the whole truth about what this investigation uncovers. If our President committed a crime, we deserve to know what it was and all the details surrounding it. It is time to demand that our Congress protect Mueller as he finishes his investigation and guarantees that the report is released to all of us.

  • Removal of Treasurer of ISGH for Misconduct
REMOVE THE TREASURER The safeguarding of your financial information is of the utmost importance to ISGH. Unfortunately, the Shura was informed by a donor that his financial information was compromised and was used for two unauthorized transactions. We now know that a family member of the treasurer of ISGH was involved in the wrong doing. The finances of ISGH affects all members. Above all it affects our reputation as Muslims and affects our children and to whom they should look up to. Removing the bad apple only gives strength to the organization and increases the trust in it. The financial misconduct needs to be stopped now!

  • Nationally Mandated Mental Health education, awareness and services for all students.
I suffer from Bipolar Disorder, anxiety and PTSD It got so severe I attempted suicide in my college dorm after years of struggling to deal with my brothers death by overdose, trauma, mental illness and school. After almost dying and weeks in hospitals, I was asked to move off of campus because I was a liability. The college should have provided support, care, and follow up with a student suffering from mental illness. Feeling alone with no direction, my mental health deteriorated so much I was completely disabled. I would spend the following years in and out of psychiatric facilities. Had I been provided with mental health services and education at a young age, early intervention could have led to treatment that allowed me to manage and cope with mental illness in a more successful way. I believe my brother also suffered from Bipolar disorder and was using drugs to self medicate. Had he been provided care and intervention, he could still be alive today. Early intervention is the best prevention.

  • Lights for Night Volleyball at Kennedy Park
I have been involved with recreational volleyball as a player and organizer for the past 20 years. Beach volleyball as a community sport has grown tremendously in the past 10 years. As a result, the players are struggling to find suitable courts to play at night. The installation of lights at Kennedy Park will greatly serve our community.

  • Wisconsin needs the Lethal Violence Protective Order ("Red Flag" Law)
More than 600 men, women, and children are killed with guns in Wisconsin every year, and nearly 80% are suicides. There is a way to decrease this deadly trend and save precious lives. The Lethal Violence Protective Order (also referred to as "Red Flag" law) gives every family the ability to temporarily keep guns away from loved ones going through a serious crisis -- before they hurt themselves or others. All too often, after a firearm homicide or suicide, families say they saw the warning signs, the "red flags," but there was nothing they could do. Wisconsin law right now leaves families and law enforcement HELPLESS to preemptively remove firearms from individuals at extreme risk for violence. The Lethal Violence Protective Order would change all that. Tell Wisconsin state leaders to support it now!

  • Equal Rights Amendment
As a girl, sitting in social studies and learning about how woman earned the right to vote, I felt proud, that woman are equal to men, and how hard some women fought for their rights. I was heartbroken when I found out the equal rights amendment was still not ratified. I want to know that my generation and the next will have equal rights for all genders.

  • Puerto Rico Statehood
The Federal response to the devastation caused by hurricanes Florence and Maria was a travesty, easily as poor as Hurricane Katrina. With representation, they would at least have a few votes in how they are treated and as a state, Puerto Rico could blossom. Side-note: Puerto Rico has voted twice to become a state. These are U.S citizens so let's give them what they want.
