This piece of property is located close to the Shell station at 646 N and 1764. This area has many residential homes in it and 2 elementary schools. We request that another location that is not dense in homes and schools be considered!

This petition is about recognizing the importance of our natural mature forests in providing a way through climate chaos. We must recognize the value of living forests before they fall to greed and it is too late to grow 100 year-old trees in a snap to protect us! The town I live in is about 37 square miles and a large percentage of this is state forest. We also serve as watershed for most of our adjoining towns. Biomass wood pellet companies are currently de-foresting North Carolina to feed European biomass electricity generation. We do not want Massachusetts to allow its forests to be destroyed for temporary corporate profit.

Americans have fought hard for our democracy in countless ways over the decades. Soldiers have fought and died to preserve it, and activists have struggled throughout our history to expand and protect the right to vote for all our citizens. We all deserve a day to honor and practice democracy on Election Day in November. By switching out Columbus Day as a federal holiday and exchanging it for Election Day, we make sure we are celebrating and advancing real American values, not glorifying a legacy of colonialism and genocide.

The USFS is having a timber sale (or possibly already has) and has already painted thousands of trees for removal which will negatively impact the recreation of OHV riders in the Francis Marion National Forest. It appears that this will negatively impact approximately 13 of the only 18 miles of the North Trails (or 76%+/-!). Please help stop this before it is too late! With over 250,000 acres, surely there are other areas that could be harvested rather than ruining a recreation site. A portion of the South section of trails was cut and destroyed last year, with many more painted trees pending more cutting and removal and has not been repaired, restored or replanted (if this is even planned). We do not want this to happen any more on any of these precious trails.
