• Thomas Selby Ellis III resignation
Judge T.S. Ellis III neglected his official duty by sentencing Paul Manafort well below the United States Sentencing Guidelines for the crime he was convicted. This sends a clear and disparaging message of bias to power and White Privilege to American citizens.

  • Women's National Basketball Tournament Should be on Broadcast TV
The Women's National Basketball Tournament should get the same coverage and exposure as the Men's National Basketball Tournament. There's no reason why the women's tournament games shouldn't be on broadcast TV like the men's.

  • Rebuilding Herbert Hoover High School and Clendenin Elementary
The Elk River community has been waiting too long, and can’t seem to get a straight answer from any local, state or federal agency as to what the hold up on replacing the schools. We have been patient. We initially believed what we were told, and accepted it. Enough is enough! We have an entire community of children whose entire high school experience will be in a portable high school, which, is of course a joke among other schools. We have children who will have been in a shared elementary from 3rd-5th grades, a shared middle school from 6-8 grades and a portable high school for potentially 1-2 years, depending on exactly when, and if the new high school is built. This is inexcusable. To live 20 minutes from the Capital of WV and see families that are still waiting on their FEMA buy back funds is reprehensible. It is impossible for the area to bounce back from the catastrophics losses of family homes and community schools without at least some faith that our government is going to do as they said they would. We as tax payers have a right to know what is going on, and our children deserve better. If you can imagine yourself or your child in this situation, I am certain you would use everything within your power to investigate the issues, and immediately begin to right the wrongs that have been done.

  • WheaGo
Wheaton College transportation to mental health and sexual violence recovery services is lacking. There is no transportation to long term counseling and the only option for accessing Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) is by ambulance which is intrusive, intimidating and cost ineffective for people who have been victimized. Comparatively, Wheaton’s transportation services are lacking against similar institutions (as indicated by research performed by the Feminist Association of Wheaton: FAW). WheaGo, a new club starting on campus, (in Partnership with FAW) intends to establish a car credit program for students to access these services. Sign on today to help WheaGo secure funding from the college to kick off and keep this service running!

  • Congress: Keep the Internet Weird — Save Net Neutrality
Democrats in Congress have introduced new legislation that would restore strong Net Neutrality rules. And — surprise surprise — the big internet service providers (like Comcast) are already trying to stop this bill in its tracks. It’s an old story: Gatekeepers want to hoard their power. The open internet has been a transformative force for people of color and other marginalized communities looking to tell their own stories, organize for justice and launch and grow businesses on their own terms. And that’s a threat to the media and tech companies that wield massive economic power in our society. But the internet — built on and powered by Net Neutrality — has always been different. Without it, we risk a future online experience that looks nothing like what we have today — one where companies like Comcast and Verizon can block or slow down whatever websites or content they feel like. And this isn’t just hyperbole. They’ve done it before and — without strong rules to stop them — will do it again.1 But this Congress can take bold action to keep these cable and phone companies in check. Now is the time for action and there should be no question for members of Congress on this issue. There’s overwhelming public support for real Net Neutrality all across the political spectrum. Tell members of Congress to support the Save The Internet Act today.

  • MLK Middle school Rotunda Floyd Cooper
Mrs.Floyd-Cooper is very lost when it comes to dealing with students issue in MLK Middle, she handles investigations poorly and if she does not like a child/parent she lets it be known by intimidation and threatening to suspend your child for false information and will think it’s okay by just saying I’m sorry I did not know at the time. I know this because it happened to my child that attends MLK Middle. Her promises sound good and will give you hope but it’s a front! I stand strong on saying she is not equipped to deal with Middle school or High school students, she has more of an elementary skill and as parents we should know our kids are different and problems with students don’t resolve as easy like elementary school. MLK Middle needs a principal who will really listen to the students concerns, support them academically by all means and implement a bully/harrasment/intimidating free policy in school and not make decisions based of how she personally feels about a student/parent. PGCPS needs to remove her and place someone with more experience dealing with middle schoolers. Please sign if you agree.

  • Stop the 1 Million Ton Sludge Dump on the Great Barrier Reef
Coral reefs are like the tropical rainforests of our oceans harboring the greatest diversity of life in the marine world. The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef and is considered one of the seven wonders of the natural world. Despite strict laws on dumping waste, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority approved the 1 million ton sludge dump on the Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier reef is already suffering devastating impacts from climate change. Allowing a 1 million ton sludge dump on the Great Barrier Reef would be like hammering the last nail in its coffin. Please sign the petition today and share widely!

  • A PLEDGE TO RESPECT EACH OTHER TO BE SIGNED BY DEMOCRATIC 2020 PRESIDENTIAL CA...
During our country's continuing seasons of political divisiveness and polarization our political leaders can set an example for all of us to respect each others' differences. Dear Senators Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren;* Similar to what Rabbi Posner has recently mailed and emailed you, I am asking you to sign on to this petition, not because you don't exemplify the values of the above pledge; to the contrary, you apparently like and respect each other and could be role models for the other 2020 Democratic candidates. I/we also believe such a pledge would be good both pragmatically and idealistically for us progressives. Once the three of you with the other Presidential candidates sign on to it, the Democratic National Committee, and other progressive organizations can urge all Americans to:TAKE THE PLEDGE, thus helping to mitigate the polarization that is so rampant in today's America, which is fed in large part by the divisive behavior of President Donald Trump. So, Kamala, Amy and Elizabeth if you agree with Rabbi Posner's proposed pledge, please contact him, [email protected], with your support, and suggestions. Thank You for your courage, intelligence, enthusiasm, style and desire to be our first woman President of the United States, in the pursuit of a better, kinder more compassionate America. * Petition senders, if you like the idea of this PLEDGE proposal, I encourage you to revise it appropriately and also send it your favorite Democratic Presidential candidate (s). Thank you. Philip M. Posner

  • PA Senators, Don't Trample Our Constitutional Rights
Senators Regan and Martin didn't succeed in their attempts to stop pipeline protest last year, so they're reintroducing their ALEC-inspired bills again this year. Versions of their anti-protest legislation have shown up in several states already. • Do Not Delist Wolves Nation Wide !!!!!!!!
A nationwide delisting cannot be based on scientific review as claimed by the USFWS because this delisting rule will automatically deny the wolves the right to migrate to habitat which they once occupied. Also, wolves only occupy only around 5% of their original habitat, they are not recovered in the sense that they are nonexistent outside of the great lake states. This proposed delisting states that it will be up to the individual states to manage wolves. In states like South Dakota wolves are already considered varmints and if delisted can be shot on site without a permit or quotas. Many other states have already stated that they do not want wolves in their states ---Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Colorado. States that at one time had wolves but were exterminated from their states when the U.S. government sponsored a bounty program on wolves in the late 1800s and early 1900s and came very close to exterminating the wolves in the lower 48 states. If this delisting proposal succeeds in becoming a reality we will once again no doubt see the wolves existence in this country come to an end, just like before. This is an urgent petition ---many signatures are needed because the USFWS has drawn up the delisting proposal but has not been submitted to the National Register yet.
