Shooting's, stabbings right in our residential neighborhood. Our kids playing on the streets and drunks parking in front of our homes to avoid detection from police. Wandering our streets after closings causing disruption in the middle of the night. Gunfire so close to where our children play and sleep. This place must be closed. A residential neighborhood is no place for that kind of business.

Our Representative in Congress, Tom McClintock, voted 12 times to keep the government shut down over the last month. While Trump finally relented, we could be back in the same mess in three weeks unless Congress takes action now. Every day the government was shut down, the U.S Forest Service was not working to prevent the next round of catastrophic wildfires from destroying our communities, and the Park Service was not protecting or managing OUR lands. When the government was shut down, the FBI, TSA, air traffic controllers and the Coast Guard were all hobbled. Tax refunds were not processed. Thousands of our neighbors were sitting at home, looking for jobs, or forced to work without pay. The shutdown cost the U.S. economy $11 billion. All for a wall that we don't need or want, and that Mexico was supposed to pay for! Tom McClintock once again sacrificed his constituents and communities for far-right ideology and allegiance to Donald Trump. Tell him you expect him to start representing the people and lands of the 4th district, by voting against any more government shutdowns! Thank you for taking action.

Republican lawmakers argue that a fetus is a "functioning human being." A fetus is not a "functioning human being" as it cannot survive outside the womb. Typically a pregnancy is not viable outside of the womb until at least 24 weeks.

In a stunning revelation, the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) says that not only were "thousands" more migrant children separated by the Trump administration than previously known, but that they don't even know how many children were taken away from their families because of failures to track families as they were being separated! To date, no one has been held accountable for this ethical and humanitarian disaster. Instead President Trump continues to demand more funding for the very agencies that separate children as a condition for reopening the government, including demanding funding that would pay for 52,000 detention beds to jail immigrant families, money to hire more agents for separating kids, and even seeking to eliminate protections for asylum seeking kids arriving at the border without a parent! The Trump administration’s policy of purposeful child separation is a moral failure for our nation, inflicting deep trauma on already vulnerable children. Moreover, the anxiety and distrust children suffer when they are institutionalized away from loved ones can cause long-lasting mental and physical health problems, particularly for small children who need personal attention in their formative years. Children who experience extended separation from their parents as a result of incarceration or detention are at increased risk of facing a variety of physical, mental, and behavioral health issues throughout the rest of their lives. In fact, this type of child-parent separation is classified as a specific type of trauma: an adverse childhood experience (ACE). Family detention is not only cruel, but also more expensive than alternatives to family detention, such as the Family Case Management Program (FCMP) that the Trump administration terminated it in 2017. Under the Family Case Management Program, children and their parents were placed into a program that provided individualized family service plans and had a proven 99% success rate ensuring the family attended their hearings. The Family Case Management Program cost only $36 per family per day, in comparison to family detention, which costs on average $798 for a family (2.5 individuals). Take action! Say NO to family separation!

The Trump Administration is purposely choosing to inflict harm on children in a misguided attempt to deter refugees from coming to America. Arresting family members who seek to sponsor the kids. Jailing them indefinitely in violation of current court orders. It was all part of their plan. Senator Jeff Merkley just released a previously-undisclosed memo showing that the Department of Homeland Security and the Justice Department had outlined the horrific family separation policy back in 2017—despite claims from Secretary Nielsen that there was no plan. Which would have given the Saints a clear shot at winning this play off game and they would be in the Super bowl. A phone call from Mr. Goodwill stating there was an error on the refs part. Our business opened in August 2017 in the Sycamore Plaza at 2436 W. Whittier Blvd in La Habra. We have held a "Rides & Coffee" event every single month on the first Sunday each month for over 1 year now. This sale consists of customers coming by at 8 am; we provide coffee, donuts, discounts, music (not excessive volume), and a raffle. What this event does is bring us a significant amount of exposure to our business and also for the center, which has been pretty quiet for a few years. Each Sunday, only 1 other business is even open for business while the sale is on. The Donut Shop (Jax Donuts) loves us as we bring great business to their establishment! The other 3 businesses don't open until after the event has concluded. Only 65% of the businesses in the center are even open on Sundays and all shops but one are closed while our sale is on. We not only bring more exposure and business to this quiet center but also to the city of LaHabra (all families tend to go eat brunch after our sale). We believe this event has been a positive event for the center and for the city as we have never had any issues with our customers or the businesses in the area for the past 16 events we've had. This is NOT a car show but a sale. We did on one occasion hand out awards to customers, but this is NOT a sanctioned car show. Also, we have had such a positive impact for the community that the Chamber of Commerce has asked our shop to host their first ever car show at the Citrus Fair this year. Many members of the community and even Chamber members have attended and they love this sale/event we hold once a month. We have had several officers from La Habra Police Department stop by throughout the year and all they can do is thank us for a great time and keeping the event under control (without any issues like you see on the local news media with the typical car scene). Our Company Chemical Guys, which has been in business for over 17 years, operates 40+ stores across the country and run these sales once a month at each location. Last but not least, I have taken videos of how sad and empty this center is on a typical Sunday from 6 am to 5 pm. Very few patrons even shop in this center on any given Sunday. We feel we are only helping the community and the businesses in La Habra with the traffic and clientele we attract. This store has been in our community for over 17 months and is an added value to the entire business mix within the surrounding districts of La Habra. The demographics for La Habra demonstrate that we are a very diverse community both socially and economically. La Habra also has a vast number of car enthusiasts and certainly, all can benefit from the products and services that Our Shop provides.
