Purdue Pharma, which makes OxyContin, is owned by the Sackler family. According to the New York Times, "Since OxyContin came on the market in 1996, more than 200,000 people have died in the United States from overdoses involving prescription opioids, and Purdue Pharma has been the target of numerous lawsuits." Here in Massachusetts, the opioid crisis has hit hard. In 2016 alone there were 1,821 opioid-related overdose deaths in our state. Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey recently filed a lawsuit that aims to hold members of the Sackler family personally responsible for deliberately misleading the public about the dangers of OxyContin, but we need to pressure Harvard to completely cut ties as well.

Karen Pence, second lady of the United States, has agreed to teach art at a Christian school in northern Virginia twice a week that does not provide admission to LGBTQ students or parents. She has taught for this school for 12 years and is now returning on a part-time basis. The rules of this school are obviously discriminatory against folks that are LGBTQ, and this is unacceptable.

The Constitution requires that EVERYONE who lives here be counted every 10 years, regardless of whether they are a citizen or not. But the Department of Commerce has announced a plan to add a question about citizenship status to the 2020 Census -- and experts say this would discourage many legitimate responses. This would dramatically skew the results of the Census -- and with them, the resources and political power our communities can access. Recently, a New York District Court found the addition of a citizenship question to the Census in violation of the law. But this decision will likely be appealed -- so it’s up to Congress to stop this partisan scheme for good. We must tell Congress to stop this effort to politicize this vital tool for democracy -- and instead push for a Census in which everyone counts. While the IRS will be able to process refunds most of the agency is shuttered by the shutdown. Just ask them to consider revealing their consumer complaints filed against them and the supervisors have given the adjusters cover. They are operating like a Mafia. I was called by this terminology, “You people.” This phrase has long been used as an interpersonal generalization. It has become known as a racial epithet embattled to African-American communities only. The unlikeliest documentation of this connotation I can verify happened in 1992 when presidential candidate Ross Perot was rebuked for telling an NAACP audience about financial hardships befalling them by "you people." They are dragging me for no earthly reasons. Now, I have to run from city to city to gather additional medical records. The only concern they have is to save their brand. They had no intention of paying the claim. I have researched numerous complaints by consumers who were distressed and persecuted by Bristol West and The Farmer Group. I will personally go to the end of the earth to see this company answer for the damages they caused to me. I pray and hope for justice for anyone who is a victim of bad faith business practices with this company, and these illegal actions by Bristol West. They are treating me like a criminal for filing a legit auto claim. In the most stressful moments, such as after an accident with an injury, these vultures are not here to help consumers, they are looking for every reason to deny my claim. They have wrecked my credit file. I only put down $1,000 when I bought this car. Since I am a credit risk now, they are requiring me to put between $4,000-$5,000 as the down payment.
