  • Change the name on John Wayne Airport
John Wayne believed in white supremacy and justified seizure of land from Native Americans. He should not be honored with the name of a California Airport. • Victims of Sexual Assault Should Not Have To Face Their Offender In School
I'm an educator and most people are not aware that juvenile sex offenders are allowed to attend school and there's usually nothing the school can do. It is not fair to victims or their families to face this injustice on a daily basis. Washington state has a model policy that enforces this law and I feel that Ohio should join this effort.

  • Governor Lujan Grisham: Save Small Schools
I am a public school teacher at Monte del Charter School in Santa Fe. The New Mexico legislature is currently considering a new school funding bill, SB1. In its present form, this bill would severely inhibit small schools such as Monte del Sol’s ability to function. Monte del Sol Charter School receives a budget adjustment due to its smaller size, but SB1 would take that away and reduce our budget by at least $350,000. This would be a devastating blow for small schools across the state and would adversely impact thousands of students and teachers.

  • Ask MN Legislators to Save TPS
The Trump administration has put the lives of over 325,000 people who have been living, working and studying legally in the U.S. for years, some for decades, under TPS (Temporary Protected Status) at risk of deportation by terminating their legal status. This means that long-time, valued members of our community could lose their jobs, homes, be kicked out of classrooms and separated from their loved ones. But Congress can stop that from happening. Minnesota alone is home to thousands of TPS holders from 13 countries, including El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Syria and Nepal. Deporting people from designated TPS countries would negatively negative impact the United States economy. More than 80% of the approximately 325,000 immigrants are tax payers working in crucial industries for the U.S. The U.S Bureau of the Census estimates that 1 in 5 TPS holders have a citizen child and the top occupations TPS holders hold are nursing, psychiatric and home health aides and also 70% of those under 25 are in school which contributes significantly to our society. The United States could see a reduction in its GDP, ‘banks would see defaults in mortgages” and foster care would see a cost increase due to thousands of orphans left behind by the immigrants. It’s a lose-lose-lose scenario. Tell your member of Congress that TPS must be extended until a permanent solution is in place. Sign this petition, call 1-888-204-8353 & tell Congress to act quickly & #ProtectTPS To learn more about COPAL's mission visit www.copalmn.org

  • Fire the Corrupt Cop Who Heads Pittsburgh's Police Union
“Deliberate Malfeasance.” “Utter disregard” for police ethical standards. That’s how a grand jury described the behavior of Robert Swartzwelder -- head of Pittsburgh’s biggest police union -- after they found that he interfered with at least two investigations into police shootings of civilians. Swartzwelder, a rank and file police officer, used his power as head of the police union to stop investigators from collecting evidence at the scene of the shootings and prevent the involved officers from being interviewed. Swartzwelder orchestrated a cover-up that kept investigators from determining if the shootings were justified and whether the officers who pulled the trigger should be held accountable. To make matters worse, Swartzwelder’s superior officers on the police force did nothing to stop him. They simply stood by as he obstructed a police investigation -- not one person had the courage to tell him to stand down. Corruption like this is a cancer within police departments: If you don’t eliminate it, it spreads throughout the culture of the force. Police unions are central to the culture of corruption, routinely working to block any accountability for police officers. If we want good, accountable policing that truly serves the public, we can’t just pass new laws. We have to fire police officers who break the law and abuse their power, and confront police unions when they perpetuate a culture of corruption and impunity. Only then will the Police Bureau’s culture evolve from one that tolerates corruption to one that demands accountability. That’s why we’re calling on Pittsburgh’s Mayor, City Council, and Police Chief to do what’s right for the culture of the police force and the people of Pittsburgh: Fire Robert Swartzwelder now.

  • Trump doesn’t care about us!
Trump is running his administration with the use of a super computer. People in the know know trump doesn’t read, work, or function normally. There is no clear indication that he believes in anything other than money. His family has free access to the White House and they asked for permission to hire cheap laborers, they employ illegals, and appear willing to engage in unamerican sentiments. Melania doesn’t care and this was on a coat that she wore. Everything she wears trump approves of. Therefore the trump White House behaviors border on the monstrous. Since we don’t feed monsters we can’t feed those in the White House.
