Susan Collins: End this government shutdownThe partial government shutdown has affected many employees across the U.S, who have gone for more than 2 weeks without a paycheck. Trash is overflowing at national parks, polluting the greatest nature in this country. And worse, President Trump plans to extend this shutdown for "months or years" just to get a big TRUMP wall on the border! We must act, and get Susan Collins, who has vocalized her support for a spending bill regardless of its border wall position, to vote "yes" on a spending bill to stand up to President Trump and end this government shutdown that has affected too many government employees and regular American citizens.77 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Callahan Bryer

do NOT make a "racist troll" chair of Finance CommitteeAfter Ald. Ed Burke was indicted for corruption, he stepped down as chair of the City of Chicago Finance Committee. Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants Ald. Patrick O'Connor to replace Burke. 1. City Council should choose the chairs of committees. 2. O'Connor engaged in reprehensible, racist attacks on Ugo Okere, a Nigerian-American candidate challenging O'Connor during an October 16, 2018 candidate forum.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Carl Nyberg

J.B. Pritzker: Keep Fossil Fuel Lobbyists Out of Political Influence and Renounce Your Ties to En...Illinois has an incoming Governor who has promised to heed the research conclusions accepted universally by the entire scientific community and bring our state into the Paris Climate Agreement. But for years he has cuddled up to the fossil fuel industries responsible for environmental damage and human rights violations throughout the United States. As a 22-year old, who has grown up witnessing the increasing severity of human-caused climate change over the last two decades, I will not sit back and watch the only planet our species calls home be snuffed out by moneyed interests that only care for profit. You wouldn't be able to bear the thought of finding the right answer to the question of "What was the air like when it was breathable?" that your future children shall ask many decades from now.42 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Christopher Haines

This police union wants dangerous cops back on the streets. Demand they stop. The reckless actions of St. Louis County police officers Alex Maloy and Mark Jakob killed two Black men, beloved community members Mikel Neil and Townsal Woolfolk. Then they lied about it to investigators. They’re exactly the kind of officers who shouldn’t have a badge and gun, and the police chief decided to fire them. So why is the local police union fighting to put them back on the police force? It’s another example of police unions defending officers and shielding them from accountability no matter what they do. On August 10, officers Alex Maloy and Mark Jakob started chasing a car after it allegedly ran a red light, going against department policy that prohibits car chases unless there’s a serious crime. Witnesses say that the high-speed chase resulted in the police car ramming a car, causing it to spin out of control and crash. The two men inside were killed, and the officers left the scene without helping or reporting what had happened. For months, the police department denied that the car chase happened. We organized to demand the truth and keep a spotlight on this case, and we were able to obtain two videos from surveillance cameras that clearly show the police car chasing another car at high speed, with its lights flashing. These videos forced the police to admit that officers Maloy and Jakob tried to cover up the truth, and the department fired them. But now, the St. Louis County Police Association -- a chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police -- is attacking that decision, and fighting to have these officers reinstated. This is the same union that failed to protect Nikki Brown, a Black officer who complained about discrimination within the department. Because the community organized for truth and justice, officers Maloy and Jakob were fired. But if the police union succeeds, these dangerous officers will be back on the streets. Police unions often succeed in reinstating abusive and corrupt officers after the community’s attention has moved on. It’s a key part of how police unions block accountability. We can’t let that happen here. If enough of us call out the police union, we can expose their attempt to block accountability, making it harder for them to get bad cops back on the force, in this case, and in the future. After you sign the petition, we’ll follow up with other ways to increase the pressure on the police union and push for justice in this case.72 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Zaki Baruti, Universal African Peoples Organization

Pay Parity During Government ShutdownsThis government shutdown is going on because the "important" departments (Defense) have funding. I believe if the President and every Congressman had to explain to his/her family that he/she is working without pay a deal would be struck and there would never be another shutdown. I favor legislation (or a constitutional amendment) that ties suspension of pay to the President and all members of the House and Senate equal to TWO days for every day any Federal agency is shut down for lack of funding.33 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Beth Emery

With our petition, budget, and facilities plan firmly developed, we are asking the board to approve our petition to open a public charter where your child and his/her teacher progress through grades 1-8 together, where the teacher delights the children with imaginative chalkboard art and storytelling that frame the daily lessons, and where all children learn to support each other and their school through service in art, cooking, gardening, woodworking, knitting and sewing, music, drama, and much more! Tell the board why you want accessible Waldorf education for all families in the comment section of the petition. -Do you want more variety and choices of educational pathways for kids? -Do you think that integrating arts (music, drawing, painting, modeling, etc.) into the curriculum rather than offering them as electives transforms the way children learn? -Are you interested in children having a chance to stay with the same class of students and the same teacher for grades 1-8, building a big family? -Do you value the emphasis that Waldorf places on developing children's emotional and social skills as well as their intellects? Thank you so much for your support! Muchas gracias por su apoyo! Nos vemos el 13!317 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Crystal Hickerson

Laws for the DogsMy petition is to save the dogs around the world from being put to sleep for things not in their control. They should have the same rights as humans. Humans get second chances all the time, yet these dogs from dog fighting cases have no rights and are put to sleep immediately because of their bloodlines because the type of dogs they normally are (pit bulls). These dogs need to be safe, and I'll do anything in my power to keep them safe. If these dogs can be saved, then they should be, and yes if the dog is not safe to be around then that's another story, but when a dog is put into a ring with a dog that will do anything to kill it, then it will do anything to survive, just like a human. Most of these dogs come out and they are loving animals and can be put into a loving home. Even if they don't get along with other dogs, they can still find a home; these dogs are given up on too fast.21 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Chainey Lippard

Limit Terms in OfficeRepresentatives no longer serve the people but their interests. We have limited terms for our President. Why not make this essential change to other parts of our governement? By limiting the amount of time that officials can serve as Senator, Representative etc. we limit their powers. A limitation will push more represenatives to make the right choices for their people and will reduce corruption. It will help to bring new blood into our political system and will force good politicians to look for new oppurtunities in other levels of the political system. The limitation would not be a life sentence against working in politics; as a Senator, for example, could potentially become Vice President. However it would force those people who make a career in politics to think through their choices. We need Change! Signing this petition is just a start to putting power back into the hands of the people!4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lori
