Bring Alejandra HomeLast August, Alejandra Juarez was deported to Mexico after living in the United States for twenty years. During that time, she built a life here and married her husband Cuauhtemoc “Temo,” a naturalized citizen and U.S. Marine who would later serve in combat in Iraq. After Temo’s service in Iraq, this country has rewarded him by tearing his family apart. They have two children, both U.S. citizens, Pamela (17) and Estela (9). Estela now lives with her mother in Mexico where she struggles to learn Spanish, a language she never used in the United States. Temo and Pamela live in Florida and travel to Mexico as often as possible to visit Alejandra and Estela. Alejandra was accused of making a false statement to immigration officials when she first entered the country as a teenager, on a form that was not translated into Spanish, and as a result is the subject of a lifetime ban from entering the country. The legal system currently offers no means to reunite the Juarez family, but their congressman, Darren Soto has introduced H.R. 581, a bill that would allow Alejandra to return to the United States as a permanent legal resident. https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2018/08/03/facing-deportation-former-marines-wife-leaves-for-mexico/ https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/aug/02/military-family-separation-immigration-trump-mexico8,168 of 9,000 SignaturesCreated by Douglas R Benner

WholeFoods: stop selling Sabra hummus! We are calling for a boycott of Sabra hummus (and all Sabra products) because Sabra is partially owned by Strauss Foods, which actively supports the Golani brigade, an “elite” unit of the Israeli army which is responsible for grave human rights abuses. The point of boycotting products such as Sabra hummus is to encourage public scrutiny of companies complicit in Israel's continued human rights violations.373 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Penny Fellbrich

Censure Representative Steve King (R-Iowa)For years, Rep. Steve King has been an embarrassment to those of us in Iowa's 4th Congressional District who do not share his views. Not only does he not represent me with his racist, white supremacist stands, but he also has done little to represent the interests of his constituents in his position as our Representative. We have been aware of his abhorrent racism for a long time and so it is heartening to see him finally called out by his Republican colleagues in the U.S. House. It has taken far too long for his racism to be addressed but now it is getting national attention. In light of Rep. Steve King’s reckless and consistent comments in support of white supremacy, House Republicans have begun to openly criticize and condemn their colleague’s blatant racist ideology – however, this is not enough. We must stand up against him in the strongest possible way. I believe that his words, actions, and attitudes justify censure by the U.S. House of Representatives. For years now, Rep. Steve King has used his position as a US Representative to embolden white nationalists in the US and promote white supremacy across the world – he cannot be allowed to continue. While the rise of Trump has emboldened many white nationalists throughout our country, the violent ideology of white supremacy has been slowly brewing in the background for decades – and like the movement itself, Steve King and his support of white supremacy predates the current political trend; here’s just a brief history of it: - Rep. Steve King asked when did ‘white supremacist’ become offensive? In an interview with the New York Times, King asked “‘White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?’” Mr. King said. “‘Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?’” [New York Times, 1/10/19] - King met with & gave an interview to members of a far-right Austrian party with historical Nazi-ties, In October 2018, King defended his meeting with Austria’s Freedom Party, a group founded by a former Nazi SS officer and whose current leader was active in neo-Nazi circles. According the Hill, “King made comments lamenting the ‘decline’ of Western civilization due to immigration in an August interview with Austria’s Freedom Party...asking: ‘What does this diversity bring that we don’t already have?’” [The Washington Post, 10/25/2018;The Hill, 10/29/2018; Unzensuriert.at, 9/2/2018] - Steve King called immigrants coming the US as “dirt” in recorded conversation, Before the 2018 midterm election, Steve King was recorded by the The Weekly Standard referring to immigrants as “dirt.” The Hill reports, “At the meeting with constituents last Monday, before the election, King was riffing with people about the jalapeños he would need to grow at his home garden for his ‘patented pheasant noodle soup’ recipe. ‘I guess I’m going to have to go get some dirt from Mexico to grow the next batch,’ King is heard saying in the audio. ‘Trust me, it’s already on its way,’ a female constituent says in the tape as the gathering laughs. ‘Well, yeah, there’s plenty of dirt. And it’s coming from the West Coast, too,’ King joked. ‘And a lot of other places, besides. This is the most dirt we’ve ever seen.’” [The Hill, 11/12/2018] - Rep. King endorsed a white nationalist mayoral candidate in Canada. Before the Toronto Mayoral election in October 2018, Steve King took to Twitter to endorse known white nationalist candidate Faith Goldy calling her “an excellent candidate.” According to the Washington Post, “Goldy was fired from her job at the Rebel after she appeared on a podcast produced by the neo-Nazi website the Daily Stormer during last year’s white-nationalist rally in Charlottesville. She has also questioned whether immigration is contributing to a ‘white genocide’ in Canada and earlier this year promoted a 1936 book by a Romanian fascist who denounced ‘the Jewish menace’ and “the parasitism of the Jews.’” [The Washington Post, 10/18/18] - King openly displayed a Confederate flag on his desk. Giving an interview to Sioux City’s KCAU TV, Steve King was shown displaying his desk’s Confederate flag adornment. [Iowa Starting Line, 7/10/2016] - Steve King retweeted a known Nazi sympathizer. In 2018, Steve King retweeted prominent Nazi sympathizer & self-admitted admirer of Adolf Hitler, Mark Collett. The retweet included King’s own words saying “Europe is waking up...Will America...in time?.” Collet was was the subject of a 2002 documentary on Channel 4 in the UK titled “Young, Nazi and Proud. [The New York Times, 6/13/2018] - In 2013, Steve King was denounced for calling most undocumented immigrants “drug mules.” Steve King told the conservative outlet Newsmax, “that for every young illegal immigrant who becomes a valedictorian, ‘there’s another 100 out there that — they weigh 130 pounds, and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they’re hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert.’” [Washington Post, 7/24/2013] Opposing white supremacy matters. The message spread by white nationalists is not only dangerous and hateful, it is plainly anti-American and should be offensive to anyone who claims to truly believe in what this country stands for. If the House of Representatives, not just the Republicans within it, is truly committed to standing up for American values and combating the threat of white supremacy in the United States, Rep. Steve King of Iowa must be censured by his peers.34 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Susan Leonard

Reject hate and violence. Add your name to this open letter to the principal of Covington Cathol...Principal Rowe, Your students travelled to Washington, D.C. and rather than supporting life, they became a mob that desecrated life and reveled in fear and hate. I understand that you have issued a condemnation of their actions and promise to investigate and take action. In this moment, you must all do far more. I urge you to root out the foundations of such unacceptable and hateful behavior and to teach your students to treat every person they encounter - and particularly elders - with dignity, humanity and respect. I urge you to engage every one of your students - and specifically all those who attended the march and surrounded Veteran and Elder Nathan Phillips at the Lincoln Memorial - in understanding the legacies and the values of the man who stood before them in song and the man at whose memorial they gathered. I urge you to remind them that hate and violence, racism and misogyny, have no place in the Catholic faith. I urge you to take this opportunity to show your students their privilege in even being able to travel home - when students of a different race who have engaged in far less have been arrested or attacked or worse. I urge you to lead the people of Covington to honor one another, and to forge a path forward where violence towards Native peoples or children with disabilities or the poor or the vulnerable is simply no longer. Covington can be known as having raised a white supremacist mob and, a few years back, having handcuffed and violently traumatized children with disabilities. Or it can be known for something far different: building to a higher ground without hate and violence. That is the only building you and your students should be screaming for. More information on the 2018 settlement on the use of handcuffs on students with disabilities in the Covington public schools: https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/kenton-county/covington/aclu-kenton-county-sheriffs-office-agrees-to-settlement-in-school-handcuffing-case530 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Anurima Bhargava

State needs to remove coquis from their 103 acre Maliko Gulch.Dear Representative, We are writing to formally request that Hawaii State make a Line Item Allocation in the state budget for the eradication of the invasive and deafening Coqui frog, to match the budget allocated annually by Maui County for the eradication of Coqui frogs by Maui Invasive Species Committee. One single Coqui frog chirps at 95 decibels and Noise Induced Hearing loss starts at 85 decibels. The density of Coqui frog population without it’s native snake predator has reached 36,000 per acre but could reach a higher density with time. The State of Hawaii owns Maui’s most infested parcel of land in Maliko Gulch where Coqui frogs have been multiplying and carried downstream for years. The density of Coqui’s in Maliko Gulch is causing an overflow of coquis out of the state’s land to all nearby neighborhoods forcing residents to have to spray their own properties or suffer loss of sleep and for some, noise induced hearing loss in the form of 24/7 tinnitus or ringing in the ears. The State of Hawaii should take responsibility for the noise induced hearing loss health hazard caused by Coqui Frogs. This year is the ‘Point of No Return’ in which state legislators will make the decision to either support an eradication budget for Coqui frogs in time, or fail to do so before it is too late, thus condemning future generations of Maui citizens to suffer sleepless nights as well as noise induced hearing loss. Previous budgets intended to ‘control’ Coqui have been inadequate because Coqui frogs literally hitchhike on cars for 25+ miles, or in recycle refuse or green waste dumped into difficult to reach gulches etc. and a whole new population for Maui Invasive Species Committee to tackle taking their time away from the state’s Maliko Gulch dense population of coqui frogs. I hope you will chose to save Maui from the fate that has befallen Big Island. Maui Invasive Species Committee confirms that this year’s budget is our last chance, before the spread of coquis can no longer be controlled or eradicated like Big Island.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elisa Plauche

Stop Coquis from ruining MauiDear Senator, We are writing to formally request that Hawaii State make a Line Item Allocation in the state budget for the eradication of the invasive and deafening Coqui frog, to match the budget allocated annually by Maui County for the eradication of Coqui frogs by Maui Invasive Species Committee. All animals deserve adjustments!1. Redefine the scope of practice and educational requirements for chiropractors AND veterinarians wanting to offer animal adjustments (also known as: musculoskeletal manipulation, veterinary chiropractic, animal chiropractic adjustments, veterinary osteopathic manipulation, animal bodywork, etc). All chiropractors and veterinarians need to be trained by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) or International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA) so they are intimately aware of the anatomy they are working with, red/yellow flags as to when NOT to administer treatments, and how to safely administer treatments. Adjustments are an ART that require someone have more than 6 months/200 hours of training. Adjustments are a SAFE therapy when administered by someone TRAINED and CERTIFIED. The AVCA and the IVCA are the ONLY 2 associations that require 200+ hours of training and then a BOARD exam in order to be certified. They also REQUIRE continuing education in order to stay up to date. 2. Allow and encourage open access for animal owners seeking supplemental, holistic, and natural therapies such as animal adjustments. Currently, state laws require that an animal owner: A- seek out a veterinarian (who, many times, do NOT have training in or even an UNDERSTANDING of such therapies) to conduct and/or recommend alternative treatments or B- request DIRECT or INDIRECT supervision via a referral form so that the animal may see a specialist (many times, a trained chiropractor). This referral slip is designed to make sure the patient is eligible for treatment/ rule out red flags. The laws do NOT mention that the specialist has to have any specified training, but this specialist DOES have to be signed off the the animal's primary caregiver and the veterinarian overseeing care. This process has resulted in many owners being told NO by their primary treating veterinarians and having to "go shopping" for another vet in order to get their pet "signed off" so they can start treatment. This is COSTLY and FRUSTRATING and puts a monopoly on the alternative therapy market based upon what veterinarians are recommending. With this limited access, animals can be over-recommended drugs, surgery, and unfortunately euthanasia which puts undue stress on the owner, the economy, and the animal. Alternative therapies are often LESS expensive, get BETTER results, and are targeted at promoting POSITIVE patient outcomes above all else. 3. Allow for equal opportunity marketing via scope definition. Currently, the Texas Board of Chiropractic defines chiropractic as a therapy for HUMAN spines only whereas the Texas Veterinary Medical Association defines that veterinarians can perform chiropractic adjustments, regardless of training or certification. Veterinarians are allowed to market themselves and their services with the terms "animal chiropractic" whereas chiropractors are NOT. There is an obvious disconnect on those who are allowed to market themselves as "animal chiropractors." Chiropractors that perform adjustments on human AND animal spines are being threatened with having their HUMAN license taken away due to "practicing veterinary medicine" when adjusting animals REGARDLESS of their AVCA/IVCA certification or proper referral forms signed. This is an unfair monopoly and decreases the reach of holistic and alternative therapies to animals that could benefit from care. Animals deserves holistic options rather than the BIG three Western options: drugs, surgery, or euthanasia. Animals are PROPERTY in Texas and have ZERO say in their health care decisions. Therefore, all health decisions on their behalf are made by the animal owner and their allocation of resources. This should be a top priority to all animals owners because holistic therapy options MINIMIZE financial strain and MAXIMIZE health benefits for the animals receiving them. I personally benefit from this petition as a provider, but I want to help ALL owners looking to help their pet so that they can know all their options when taking care of their pet.130 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Kaitlyn Lackey

Open the Department of the InteriorThe longest government shutdown is taking a toll on wildlife and wild lands they need to survive. The lack of government funding is leaving our national parks open to poaching and destruction of plant and tree life and some scientific research has been halted. A pack of wolves that was to be relocated to a national park in Michigan to bolster that vanishing population is instead facing possible starvation in its current location due to the shutdown. The House of Representatives has passed a funding bill that would fund the Department of the Interior, Environmental Protection Agency, and Forest Service. This funding legislation passed with bipartisan support and should be taken up immediately in the Senate. Ask your senators to tell Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to bring this funding legislation to the Senate floor for a vote immediately and to vote YES on the bill.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mitch Merry

Remove Azodicarbonamide from Bread at Subway!!!!!!!!Other countries are not required to have this specific ingredient in their bread, so why should we? It's banned there so why not here? This ingredient is used for yoga mats and shoe soles; this is what we are intaking into our bodies. It is also a possible cause of asthma due to the issues for respiratory causes. The United States has children, youths, adults, and elderly putting this chemical in our carcasses.10 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kendy
