Trump is disastrous President, the worst in history, and a clear and present danger to the U.S. and the world. I worry about my grandsons and grand-daughters inheriting a world in which the forces racism, militarism, bellicosity, and greed--unleashed by Trump and his minions--will completely overwhelm the ideals proclaimed in the Preamble of our Constitution.

Let's get enough outcry NOW, from all sides of the aisle that today's display of Trump's "power" is no longer acceptable, in fact, it's treasonable.

I want my vote to count. I want the President/Vice president to be elected by popular vote. Not by the vote of Representatives.

The New York State Attorney General has filed a civil suit against the Trump Foundation, citing numerous egregious violations of state law. It is clear that there are a number of criminal violations as well but the Attorney General cannot initiate a criminal investigation unless asked to do so by the Governor. The Pulitzer Prize winning reporter, David Cay Johnston, made the bulletproof case for this referral in a recent NY Times op-ed.

Carnival Corporation, the cruise ship giant, is polluting the Arctic -- with devastating impacts on its wildlife and communities. Carnival’s Arctic ships use heavy fuel oil -- a cheap and viscous fuel. As a company that relies on marketing a pristine Arctic, Carnival should be doing everything it can to protect this region -- not destroy it. So we need your help to urge it to clean up its act!

Dirty coal lobbyist Andrew Wheeler is running the EPA now that Scott Pruitt is out. And he wants to pick up exactly where Scott Pruitt left off. We can’t let him. This week our environmental champions in Congress are demanding a vote to keep Wheeler from continuing Pruitt’s toxic agenda. It would freeze all of Pruitt’s most dangerous policies while the 12+ federal investigations into his corruption conclude. But some Republicans want to block the vote. We need your help to stop them!

Donald Trump has blamed the United States for the long running tension in US/Russian relations, ignoring the long history of aggression (including military) by Russia/Soviet Union against the United States. There are too many to list; however, I will list two, one was a great threat to the United States and had us on the verge of war and the threat of massive loss of life: The Cuban Missile Crisis. Currently Russia and their KGB trained President Vladimir Putin have at the very least attempted to influence or change the results of elections in the United States. Donald Trump is allowing this to continue thus undermining the democracy of the United States and the Constitution of the United States of America. Donald Trump as a candidate even invited Russia to interfere in 2016 election for The President of the United States. Donald Trump has placed the interest of an adversary above the interest and well being of the United States; has undermined and threatened the Constitution and democracy of the United States; and, has endangered the life of every person in the United States and every American around the world. Donald Trump must be immediately investigated for and if appropriate charged with Acts of Treason.

In the last three years, 50 towns in Connecticut have passed local fracking waste bans. It's time our legislators got on board and passed a statewide ban. People have made it clear that they don't want this toxic waste in their communities. There is no safe way to treat toxic, radioactive fracking waste — and disposing of it here would threaten the health of Connecticut families. While fracking itself isn't happening in Connecticut, incoming waste from other states is a very real danger. It's time our elected officials moved to protect ALL of Connecticut by passing a permanent statewide ban on fracking waste. Tell them to Ban Fracking Waste Now!

My 7-year-old son was hit by a motorized scooter traveling at 20 mph heading south in the northbound lane on the beach path. The pole of the scooter struck him in the mouth, breaking his two front teeth, slicing his lip open, and loosening six other permanent teeth, which he may lose completely. Our beach path has become unsafe, drivers are having to go to great lengths to avoid striking scooters disobeying the rules of the road, pedestrians are being struck on the sidewalks, and the scooters piling up on the sidewalks are hazards in our public walkways as well as infringing on private property. We must take measures, as other cities have done, to prevent the dangers that motorized scooters pose.

We are in the final stage of the town board's irreversible decision on whether to sell EPCAL at low cost to Calverton Aviation and Technology, a paper corporation under the complete control of the Ghermezian family's private company Triple Five. The Ghermezians insist they take 1,000 acres of irreplaceable land that they will not stipulate is truly undevelopable. They refuse to accept contract provisions that would permanently protect the town from use or resale for gambling or purposes other than aviation, science and technology. Unless Councilwoman Giglio recuses herself because of the impropriety of her private meeting with the Ghermezians, the sale will soon be approved by a Party line vote despite the clear mandate of last November's election. Only a strong voice from the community can stop this self-interested disaster and protect Riverhead from the corrupting influence demonstrated by the Ghermezians in Nevada (see tinyurl.com/votenoEPCAL )

I have lived on Ellis Place for nearly five years in a house built during the 1860s. This old house is not energy efficient and requires ongoing expensive maintenance and repairs, therefore costs are higher than more modern houses. Now the Historical Preservation Committee wants to designate this as a historic district which would impose additional expense and time burdens which would slow my ability to make improvements. Ellis Place is not inhabited by wealthy owners. We will be harder pressed to maintain much less improve our holdings.
