Logan Michael Osborn bound a 14-year-old girl with a belt and sexually assaulted her. Osborn pled guilty and was sentenced to time in prison, butCircuit Court Judge T.J. Hauler in Chesterfield County, Virginia decided to suspend the prison term entirely--and now Osborn gets to walk free. A psychologist said that Osborn is likely to offend again, but the judge still let him go. This is not the first time Judge Hauler has let off a violent offender. He also released a rapist who went on to kill his father-in-law once set free. We have to stop judges from letting off sexual predators without regard for the consequences. Judge Hauler must be forced to resign.

The southern resident Orcas are in dire need of food. The time is NOW to act. Governor Inslee's Task Force is working to take action by October, but we need to get the general public involved now to make a clear statement to BPA that they MUST breach the damns starting NOW.

The Petaluma Police Department has been ignoring criminal animal cruelty at Petaluma Farms for years. This certified "humane," "cage-free" egg supplier to Whole Foods has been exposed for cramming thousands of birds inside of filthy sheds where their stressful environment leads to sickness, feather loss, and even cannibalism. Direct Action Everywhere investigated Petaluma Farms in 2014 and found dead, rotting birds among the living, and recent footage shows nothing has changed. With this recent news, over 150 activists mobilized at Petaluma Farms in July to demand the police help these suffering birds, and they said they would look into the farm and take action by September 1st. Animals are starving to death right now and the longer the Petaluma Police wait to take action, the more animals will die. We need to show them the public does not support animal cruelty and urge them to take action now.

Voters have made numerous attempts to contact the Governor and her campaign -- in-person, through dozens of calls to her office, and through the press. But she still refuses to agree to debate. We are signing this as a concerned citizens, asking the Governor to agree to three debates before the Democratic primary on September 12, for the good of the state and the electorate. My brother and I love Sonic slushes and have been visiting Sonics at least twice a week for several years. However, we have recently learned that the styrofoam cups the company uses aren't biodegradable and contain carcinogenic benzene, and the plastic straws used are polluting the world's oceans at an alarming rate. As a result, we will reluctantly forego our twice-weekly "fixes" of the company's delicious slushes until it starts serving them in paper cups like 7-Eleven, and converts to paper straws as McDonald's and Starbucks are doing. We urge others who care about human health and the environment to consider a boycott as well, and to sign this petition.

On August 13th the Albany County Legislature will vote on Local Law L/Resolution #228, which will ban all Albany County food service establishments and restaurants from using foam take out containers, foam trays, foam cups and other polystyrene products. Help defeat the ban that will force all food service establishments to purchase alternatives at 2 - 4 times the cost, negatively impacting businesses and consumers. We urge all Albany County Legislators to vote against this proposal on Monday, August 13th at 6:30 p.m. at the Albany Legislative Chambers, located at the Albany County Court House, 16 Eagle St, 2nd FL. Albany, N.Y. 12207. This petition will be present at the hearing.
