Release the study on toxic chemicals in our water! The White House, the EPA, and HHS have so far REFUSED to release a study on water contamination from toxic chemicals called PFOA and PFOS -- used to make non-stick Teflon. Existing studies have linked these chemicals to serious health effects, including cancer, liver and brain dysfunction, and development problems, and this comprehensive study is long overdue. Right now, the EPA has ZERO rules on the books to protect communities from these dangerous chemicals. This study remains unpublished -- because the Trump White House and the EPA think it's a "public relations nightmare." Hundreds of communities and military bases across the country are contaminated with these toxic chemicals. Demand that this study be released!1,026 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Miranda Carter, Food & Water Watch

Don't Let Columbia University Close Haven AvenueUPDATE! Despite the community outpour to stop Columbia U. from taking over the street CB12 voted in support of this plan despite the fact that the traffic study was not reviewed on the committee level and the DOT Guidelines don't suit implementing a plaza at a site such as this. Many community members however are still determined to have this decision overturned or nullified! Continue to sign and share this petition!! The push to stop implementation of the Haven Plaza is about more than the potential 20+ parking spots that will be lost. There also is a plan to reconstruct the Riverside Viaduct between 150th and 160th street that will eliminate access to 50+ parking spots for over 42 months beginning this summer. Anyone who knows this district knows how stressed the parking situation already is. Long before this plan residents have been impacted by the following: 1. Parents lose quality time with their children, 2. Caretakers of the elderly & disabled lose time with their patients (or loved ones) 3. Hard working residents lose sleep searching for parking (many have fallen asleep in their cars waiting) 4. Residents and commuters incur costs from tickets they can not afford 5. Residents cars are towed and often damaged due to inability to find parking 6. Traffic cruising through our neighborhood pollute our air ... - All due to already congested streets! These institutions have already successfully taken over and eliminated a lot of affordable housing, commercial space and street parking in this district. If you are a person that is already or will be negatively impacted by this plan sign this petition! Let your voice be heard!468 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Ayisha Oglivie

Smoke Free Family Friendly Living Spaces for PhoenixvilleLiving in a non-smoking apartment complex is nice, but that only applies to inside the apartments; this does not stop people from sitting and smoking directly outside of their doors where the wind can carry that smoke inside your apartment. Many towns across the nation have implemented shared space rulings that limit smoking to designated areas so non-smokers are not forced to breath in second-hand and sidestream smoke. We hope that Phoenixville would implement a similar public health ordinance.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Eric Thompson

Reject the abortion gag rule! The Trump administration is about to literally BAN the word abortion from the doctor's office. For clinics and hospitals that accept dollars from the Title X program--the nation's program for affordable birth control and reproductive health care--doctors, nurses, and other health care providers would be banned from providing, counseling on, or referring any patient for an abortion. Even if it was needed to protect a woman's health or save her life. Even if she asked. It gets worse. This doesn't just impact women who need abortion. If clinics refuse to comply with this proposed rule, the government will stop reimbursing them for treating patients who cannot pay. Eventually, that could shutter a clinic, ending services like birth control, cervical and breast cancer screening, and HIV testing for the entire community. This can be devastating--more than half of Planned Parenthood clinics are in rural or medically underserved areas where there are few or no other options for essential women's health care. But we can defeat this. The Trump administration has backed off harmful rule changes before, such as allowing employers to steal workers' tips--and it is accepting comments on the new proposal. If we generate fast, widespread outrage, we can force the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to back down.33,736 of 35,000 SignaturesCreated by Nita and Shaunna

Stop DeVos from Turning School Principals into ICE AgentsEducation Secretary Betsy DeVos wants to turn school teachers and principals into ICE agents. As women, as mothers, we will not stand idly by as DeVos tries to put millions of school children in harm’s way. Sign on to send DeVos a rotten apple to tell her that schools should be learning centers -- not deportation traps. Millions of students throughout the country are already afraid to go to school. Decades of discrimination and criminalization of students of color have created a school to prison pipeline that threatens the security of Black and Brown students. An epidemic of mass shootings has filled our schools with fear. But DeVos wants to make schools even less safe for our kids by encouraging teachers and principals to report undocumented students to ICE. The Supreme Court has made it clear that every child in the United States, regardless of their immigration status, has the right to an education. Make no mistake, DeVos’ proposal is unconstitutional and violates the law. But even worse than that? It endangers the safety of millions of our students at a time when our nation’s highest education officer should be doing everything she can to make schools safer for our kids. Add your name and we will deliver your message along with a rotten apple to DeVos’ office next week.2,934 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Lisa

Tell Kroger: Stop selling food grown with toxic pesticides! This year’s bee die-off numbers just came out, and the news isn’t good. Bees are still dying at alarming rates. And it’s largely due to bee-killing neonicotinoid pesticides. If we want to stop the massive bee losses, we need to get these pesticides out of our food system. Kroger plays a key role in this fight. It could stop selling food grown with toxic pesticides. But we need YOU to help make that happen!7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Peter Stocker

Support Exceptional Education (S.E.E.) Little SilverLittle Silver contributes nearly 22 million in tax dollars to the state of NJ, but receives less than $400,000 annually for our schools. 94.3% of our district’s budget comes from our local tax base. Despite our high property taxes, to meet the 2018-2019 budget, the district was forced to cut two teaching positions, one administrative position and one support staff member. Three additional teaching positions and one support staff position were reduced to part-time. The health of our schools affects every resident of Little Silver. We need our legislators to IMMEDIATELY reform the funding process for school districts like Little Silver.471 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Kelly Cullen

Berkeley City Council: Give Consumers the Right to Know!Direct Action Everywhere has investigated numerous supposedly "humane" farms supplying to Berkeley grocery stores like Whole Foods and documented filth, disease, extreme crowding, and cannibalism among the distressed animals. Consumers deserve to know that even "organic" dairy farms separate mothers and their babies immediately after birth, that "humane" egg farms can legally kill male chicks by throwing them into a grinding machine alive, and that behind the pretty images on the packaging, animals are being tortured for the products sold in Berkeley stores. We are calling upon the city of Berkeley to pass a first-of-its-kind consumer transparency law, requiring warning labels on all animal products sold in Berkeley.230 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Cassie King
