• Tell City of Dripping Springs to say NO to the proposed Rutherford Ranch North development
Rutherford Ranch North is a massive proposed housing development located in northeastern Hays County within the ecologically sensitive Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone and Dripping Springs ETJ. The proposed development would transform 781 Acres of beautiful, oak-filled hill country ranching land into yet another residential community, containing approximately 1,252 homes. Rutherford Ranch North would increase runoff, affecting local and regional groundwater quality, by transporting residential pollutants straight into the Edwards aquifer through Little Bear Creek and local geologic recharge features, like Dahlstrom Cave. Dye tests prove that water entering Dahlstrom Cave is in local wells within ten hours and Barton Springs shortly after. This increased runoff would also infringe on the private property rights of nearby landowners who depend on the aquifer for drinking water and who live in fear of local flooding. Rutherford Ranch North would be located next to an area recognized as a Floodplain by FEMA. Nearby landowners have spent countless hours and large sums of money to combat flooding and would be forced to devote even more of their limited time and resources to protect and maintain their property. In addition to polluting the aquifer, Rutherford Ranch North would Increase traffic on already congested roads. The area contains a rock quarry and there are plans for a park, a large high school, and several other housing developments in addition to a future toll road - SH-45SW. The Rutherford Ranch North development would only add to the increased traffic caused by these projects. Please sign this petition today and tell Dripping Springs that Rutherford Ranch North would be a disaster for the aquifer, local landowners, and the region.

  • Potholes in Philadelphia
I'm starting this petition because, I have seen children tripping and falling over potholes. I have also seen, motor vehicles almost get into accidents with each other just trying to avoid these holes. We have wheel chair operators and other disability residents that is having problems due to the extreme deep holes in this city, especially the urban areas!! Even our crossing guards are having a hard time controlling traffic as they protect children crossing between potholes and traffic that is trying to avoid holes. Someone needs to help us NOW because Later has already past. Help is needed starting with with the OGONTZ Sts. in Philadelphia. When these holes fill up with water or snow, No one can no longer see them & the danger starts all over again. We would like to see our tax dollars play apart in our safety with safe roads without HOLES. It's time for our political leaders to make this request become a reality. Thank you.

  • Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
There are over 2.5 million grandparents raising their grandchildren due to substance abuse, death, mental health issues, or abuse/neglect. There are over 1 million children nationally who have their grandparents as their sole caregivers. Many of these children have physical and/or emotional needs due to the treatment they received before living with their grandparents. These grandparents save the government over $6 billion each year by supporting the children and keeping them out of foster care while over 21% of these grandparents live below the poverty line. These grandparents NEED resources and financial assistance to care for their grandchildren while dealing with age-related issues such as health, living on a fixed income, and raising at-risk grandchildren.

  • Minnesota: More Expansive Background Checks
I want to feel safe in school, and I can't do that while people are able to buy weapons of war. Universal background checks are a start to ensuring youth safety in our state.

  • Save the Brook Rd. Forest in Wendell State Forest - 110 year old oak forest
This particular portion of Wendell State Forest has not been logged in over 110 years. It is one of the oldest, and most untouched, pristine parts of Wendell State Forest. It WILL be logged in November 2018 if it is not stopped. This forest is enjoyed by the people of Wendell and the surrounding area. It is the most loved, most walked portion of Wendell State Forest. We the people of Wendell, and the surrounding area do not want it "managed" for the benefit of the biomass, and wood pellet industry. We want this 80 acre old oak forest reserved as a wildland. This forest has been a wildland for over 100 years. We want it to remain exactly as it is, untouched by human interference.

  • Require citizen consent for attacks on nations.
I have been conducting extensive research. In this effort, I have found that the United States has been taking actions against other nations based on false, incomplete or inaccurate information. It is now time for the Citizens to take back control and end this atrocity.

  • Make bullying a Federal Offense and classified as a Hate crime
The bullying must stop; parents held accountable for their children's actions. The damage done lasts a lifetime and is causing more suicides every day. Teachers ignore, and the schools. I'm a parent of someone who was bullied so badly he has been in psychiatric therapy his whole life. He has tried 9 times to end his life and will be in therapy the rest of his life. He has been diagnosed with so many mental disabilities, beaten so many times, suffered repeated head trauma. A child's brain is still developing at the tender age of 6 years old when his bullying first started. And I was at his school every day. Nothing was ever done. I eventually even homeschooled. Teachers came to my home. My son is now a grown man and the damage is already done. We must stop the bullying. As Administrator of Suicide Shatters Loved ones and Families, my members are growing; our children ending their lives. This must stop. We must remove the stigma attached to those who suffer from mental-illness bullying causes. Our children suffer in silence. I have had my own son in therapy for over 22 years, and he will be in therapy the rest of his life. I watched my happy little boy become a sad insecure child, teen, and now a man. I pray every night I will wake up with him still with us. Bullying is a crime of hate and as such should be classified as one. And now the cycle begins again with my own grandson. It is time to make bullying a Federal offense and a hate crime because it is a crime of hate, and that hate is taking the lives of our children every day. We must take action to secure the safety of our children, mentally and physically. Parents need to be held accountable for the cruel actions of their children. They are aware of their actions, especially when the schools do notify them and they do nothing; chalk it up to kids will be kids. Well bullying is not acceptable and it affects our children the rest of their lives. So many take their lives due to bullying and it must stop. With the internet, it is even worse and without it, it still goes on, only on the streets, in our schools. We Must Save our Children. Stop The Bullying and Save Our Children.

  • Don't Mess With SNAP!
House Republicans are now pushing a farm bill that would impose strict so-called "work requirements" on millions of low-income Americans receiving food stamps. This is a horrible idea! Requiring people to find 20 hours a week of work before they receive food stamps when there aren't enough jobs to go around isn't just cruel, it's nonsensical. Republicans are proposing to punish people for circumstances that are often outside of their control and their plan would hurt those in marginalized communities already suffering from high unemployment rates. Please join with us tell Congress to keep their hands off of SNAP.

  • Withdraw Wendy Vitter's Nomination
On January 23, President Trump nominated Wendy Vitter to serve on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. At her confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on April 11, Sen. Blumenthal asked Vitter whether she believes Brown v. Board of Education was decided correctly. She refused to answer. Watch the shocking exchange here: https://twitter.com/civilrightsorg/status/984135758440263702 The 1954 Brown decision was a unanimous ruling that struck down segregation in our nation's public schools. Nominees to our federal courts who cannot say, without qualification, that they believe Brown was correctly decided should not be considered for lifetime positions on the federal bench. Before Vitter's hearing, civil rights organizations like ours were already opposed to her confirmation because of her extreme record. Vitter has taken irresponsible positions on women’s health and reproductive freedom, and she attempted to hide some of those views by failing to disclose them to the Senate. She also has a history of insensitivity to the rights of immigrants. After her hearing, we're even more outraged. Federal courts won't protect our civil and human rights if we don't protect the federal courts – but we need your help. Join us in urging Louisiana's Senators Kennedy and Cassidy to stand up for fair courts and call for Vitter's immediate withdrawal.

  • Tell Congress: Reject the new Farm Bill and stop Big Ag from destroying our food system!
Today, Republicans in Congress unveiled their Farm Bill. This bill would be a disaster for our food system. It would harm our environment and public health. And it would allow pesticide companies to keep poisoning bees and butterflies. This bill is nothing more than a massive giveaway to Big Ag. We need your help to push your Representative to reject it!
