• Vote 16 DC
In the District of Columbia, you can hold a job at 16, drive a car, pay taxes, be tried as an adult in court, but cannot vote. The 26th Amendment reads: “The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.” This does not disenfranchise people under the age of 18 or prevent greater inclusion. Allowing 16-17-year-olds to vote in the district will give a voice to what is already a responsible and engaged portion of our community.

  • Racism in our Schools
I am starting this petition to make a small attack on racism. Black students getting suspended is the beginning of the school-to-prison pipeline. This is a small solution that can have a big impact because education is a big tool which if you lack is damaging. So if we can't stop students from getting suspended, let's stop the aftermath. Let's give them a chance to get a second chance.

  • No National Guard troops on the border
Trump's plan to dispatch National Guard troops to the souther border is yet another cruel action blatantly intended to harass, intimidate, and hurt immigrants and refugees. Trump, and his administration, have consistently harmful implemented policies, ended protections and programs for immigrants, and blocked legislative solutions to ensure that immigrants are safe from harm and harassment. His ridiculous border wall remains massively unpopular—and his relentless focus on a wall ignores the majority of Americans who oppose it. This ploy to send National Guard troops to the border is his latest attempt to hurt immigrant communities. But he cannot do this without the cooperations of governors. Some governors—like Arizona's Gov. Doug Ducey and Texas's Gov. Greg Abbott—have said they support sending National Guard troops to the border. It'll take a massive outcry to stop them.

  • SCREW COMMON CORE
Some of the problems we had included wrong concepts. One of the problems we had for homework was miswritten, and oversimplified. This shows the ignorance that common core writers have towards learners.

  • Congress: Save Birds From Wind Turbines
I and other people interested in renewable energy are concerned and dismayed by the number of flying creatures being harmed or killed by wind turbines. In order for this form of renewable energy to be truly environmentally sound, we must protect these creatures!

  • Substance abuse treatment to all, starting with FL!
I am disabled and after having years of sobriety, I was crippled in a car accident and am personally affected by this disease. Being disabled leaves me in a financial struggle to survive to obtain my treatment and be able to pay rent to have housing, leaving my life on the line every day. Suboxone also aids in pain relief, thus why I am a long-term patient. My best friend, whom I considered my brother, died at the age of 30 to this atrocity of Opiates, "the war on drugs", and our punishment style police state we live in! Addiction is not biased and ADDICTS ARE BEING LEFT TO DIE. Make Suboxone available to all opiate addicts! It does not get you "high" and is highly, highly effective in alleviating withdrawal symptoms, can be monitored and tapered down to become sober safely and to do so effectively.

  • We demand City Council move Chico to 100% Fossil Free by or before 2040.
We the people of Chico have experienced a recent five-year drought, extreme temperature rises, increased intensity of winds and wildfires while many of our state and local representatives are climate deniers. We are making a way for marginalized citizens who will suffer the most from devastating climate crises; youth, ill and disabled, elderly, women, indigenous people and people of color and low-income people. We need to make a fast and just transition to 100% renewable energy by or before 2040. We cannot afford any more climate and science-denying non-representation.

  • No Low Barrier Shelter on Girard
As residents/homeowners/tenants/workers/parents of school children from the Lettered Streets area, we oppose the proposed use of 509 Girard for a low barrier homeless shelter. The city should find a more suitable location for these efforts.

  • Stop the Balfour Parkway
The Balfour Parkway will cost taxpayers $154 million dollars and result in 220-440 homes being destroyed or negatively impacted by a five mile expressway that will wind its way through existing subdivisions, apple farms, and neighborhoods. It is not needed to facilitate traffic, it will not eliminate traffic issues on Four Seasons Boulevard and it will destroy the small town feel of Henderson County forever and should not be allowed to proceed!

  • Oppose California AB-1754 Pre-K for All Act of 2018
I have personally had over 1,000 children in my school over the past fifteen years. While I believe in the method we use (which happens to be Montessori), I know it's not for everyone. I frequently recommend other environments for some of the children that I meet - every child has differing needs. It's important that we keep the choices alive. If this bill passes, private choices will be greatly reduced, and more people will have to entrust the state to create the educational foundation for our children.
