Many decent Israeli teens—drafted into the Israeli army—have been ordered  to shoot into crowds of unarmed civilian Gazans protesters. Following these orders is a violation of international law and human rights, and might be punishable decades from now in light of the many Gazans who have already been killed or wounded, yet refusing an order from their superior officers would likely result in being jailed by the Israeli military. These soldiers should not be placed in this situation, and nonviolent protesters should not be met with lethal force. The massacre of unarmed Palestinians living in Gaza is a violation of international law and universally accepted standards of human rights. B'tselem, the Israeli Human Rights organization, has called upon Israelis to recognize that they have an obligation in International Law to reject the orders of superiors that tell them to shoot into crowds of unarmed civilians, even if a handful of those civilians take provocative actions like attempting to cut down the border fence or burn tires or even throw Molotov cocktails at the well-armed Israeli soldiers (though most of those killed and the thousands who have been wounded by Israeli guns in this latest outburst of violence did none of these things).

My name is Rachel, and my Senator, Tammy Duckworth, made history -- by giving birth to a daughter! In 230 years Senator Duckworth is the first Senator to give birth while in office, and as an Illinois voter and mom of two adorable kids, including a newborn, it makes me so proud. Like me, and most new moms in the country, I bet the challenges around returning to work are already on her mind. Senate rules prevent her from taking maternity leave, at least not without missing votes! And they don’t let her bring her new baby on the Senate floor -- so she might really struggle to prioritize breastfeeding when she has to rush back in time for votes. These Senate rules are ridiculously outdated - and send a terrible signal to employers everywhere. That’s why I’ve started a campaign to change the rules to allow all Senators to bring their babies to the floor (within the first year of the child’s life) -- join me! We have a severe and persistent leadership gap in this country. Just 5% of CEOs in Fortune 500 companies, 8% of Governors and 19% of Congress are women. As a result, there are so few leaders who have had the experience of giving birth at all, let alone while serving in office. It’s no surprise that our policies around birth and babies in America are among the worst in the world. We need to change that so new parents can fully lead and represent us. As Senator Duckworth says “whether you are a woman or a man, whether you're breastfeeding or not, or you've adopted, you should be able to bring that child on to the floor and continue to do your job."

I am starting this petition because of the recent decision by the FCC to end Net Neutrality guidelines that keep the internet open and not subject it to fast or slow lanes. In the wake of the decision made by Ajit Pai it has led to the dismantling of the open and free internet and it should be in the best interest of the public to institute its own public broad brand with Net Neutrality guidelines enshrined within the proposal.

The people of Syria do not deserve to be bombed based on an allegation that Assad may be responsible for using chlorine gas on his own people. Regime change in the Middle East has proven disastrous in both Iraq and Libya. The United States must not commit further immoral attacks on innocent civilians. No war on the people of Syria.

Zinke is doing everything he can to destroy protections for our National Parks and public lands. He's once again stacking his advisory committees with corporate cronies who benefit from having influence over our public lands and wild places. We need to send 40,000 signatures to show Zinke that our parks are not for sale. His job is to protect our national treasures, not exploit them to benefit giant corporations.

Donald Trump is trying to hand over Grand Staircase-Escalante to the coal industry. He is planning to destroy the beautiful Kaiparowits Plateau -- which makes up much of the monument -- by mining. The Department of the Interior is seeking public input on this plan. But you only have until April 13th to speak up!

Donald Trump has nominated a coal industry lobbyist named Andrew Wheeler to fill the number two spot at the Environmental Protection Agency. With EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt mired in scandal and fighting for his job, Wheeler could be next in line to take over the EPA. That makes it all the more important that we stop his nomination.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt is corrupt. His words and actions prove that he is strongly opposed to civil rights and environmental justice. He has even gone as far as actively working to tear apart our environmental protections. Currently, Pruitt is plagued by scandal for his many disreputable actions - bringing his top aides on a lavish trip to Morocco, spending $120,000 on a trip to Rome, hiring 20 personal bodyguards, and helping to secure massive raises for two favorite aides - all of these by misusing taxpayer dollars and funds meant to better the environment. He faces growing criticism on all sides, including members of his own party. The White House is reportedly frustrated with him. Even Republicans like Chris Christie think he’s on his way out. One of Pruitt’s closest aides resigned amidst the scandals, clearly demonstrating that his camp feels the pressure. But so far, Congress hasn’t done enough to push for Pruitt to be fired. Your Representative could help kick Pruitt out of the EPA by publicly demanding his removal. But we need your help to push them to act. I am a student and once proud scholar here at Key West Collegiate Academy, but because of Mr. Louis's sudden termination, we the students are outraged. Mr. Louis was the only teacher that cared about his students on a personal level and the reasons for his termination are unjustified.

The key to environmentally friendly practices is accessibility and the Illinois system for poison recycling is not. It’s illegal to throw away poisons, as it should be, but our government is not giving citizens an easy way to make the right choice. As a result, toxic poisons end up in our landfills and eventually our water supply. Arlington Heights is a member community of the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County(SWANCC), but this relationship is neither well known or convenient for citizens. If the Arlington Heights government could sponsor an affordable cost-wise collection plan that is accessible, it will prevent poisonous chemicals from seeping into our water supply.
