This petition was created to give our youth a voice in the political process. Currently, our youth are excluded from voting or having a voice in the process until they are 18. In light of recent tragic events, our citizens should have a say at age 16.

No one's life should be taken away because of 39.1 grams of marijuana. Mr. Kelly was a victim of the discriminatory laws that have led us to this tragic system of mass incarceration. Mr. Kelly was in prison when his daughter was born. He hasn't seen her in thirteen years. No one's fatherhood should be deprived over such a small amount of marijuana. We are demanding justice for Mr. Kelly, in the form of his release.

Stop the flow of money from organizations like the NRA to our legislators. Demand that the Supreme Court overturn "Citizens United", the Supreme Court decision that has allowed organizations like the NRA to unlimited amounts of money to the Congress and Senate. Unless the money is stopped nothing will change.

Our town gets destroyed, locals have a hard time getting to and from work, the crime has doubled since last year. Stop putting the color in front of a time for all. We all need to stand together for our town and state and stop allowing the abuse at this time.

Our government and political process has been captured and corrupted by powerful corporate special interests. The system has been rigged and it will continue to spawn more Trumps, hate, divisiveness, income inequality, privatization, austerity, militarization, climate chaos and death and destruction until we pass HJR 48, the We the People Amendment, which already has 53 co-sponsors in Congress! HJR 48 is the only amendment bill introduced in Congress that ends both corporate personhood AND money as speech, allowing for the proper regulation of money in politics (bribes). It is rapidly gaining bipartisan support in the House, and MUST now be introduced in the Senate (for extra credit call or write your Senator). HJR 48 will restore OUR constitution and OUR rights and powers back to We the People ONLY! It will undo the Citizens United ruling of the Supreme Court. With your help, we will over-rule the court and legalize democracy, and then kick the pirates and weasels out of OUR government, in time to save our dying planet! We want to leave our kids in a better and more safer environment in this world where teachers will be an icon of sympathy, knowledge, respect, and peace for our children. We have age limits on cigarettes and alcoholic beverages to not be purchased by minors because we believe they are not mature enough to understand their consequences, yet we do not have any restrictions to purchase assault weapons in that manner. It is sad and does not make any sense. Just because a few people speed we cannot disregard speed limits in the streets to allow it. It is not a solution but instead the beginning of another problem. Let's make our voice heard and stand up together for our rights.

No school employee or parent or student should be afraid some maniac will kill them with a machine gun. 15-minute walk-outs and marches are great but this first-ever national moratorium/strike/boycott against unsafe schools is the ONLY way to get a Congress who has been bought by gun manufacturers to pass common sense laws. Shame on Congress and SHAME ON US if we just let more students and school employees die without taking REAL action.

We are high school students and we don’t think arming teachers is a practical solution. It doesn’t address the source of the problem, and it wouldn’t make us feel any safer.

The NRA creates content that promotes conspiracy theories and racial violence and has blocked our country's ability to pass gun control policies which the entire country supports. They have a right to free speech, but there is no "right" to be on a streaming service. These mega-powerful CEOs must take a stand against the mega-power of the NRA, for the good of our country. What started with survivors of the Parkland shooting has grown into a nationwide movement with incredible momentum—but some school districts want to stop it in its tracks and stifle students’ right to protest. A school district superintendent in Needville, Texas told students they would be suspended for three days if they participate in any school walkouts or protests to demand better gun laws. The National Rifle Association (NRA) is an extremist organization that opposes virtually every common-sense gun safety regulation, even ones supported by most gun owners. But the NRA continues to be powerful, because it boasts over 5 million members -- members who enjoy various corporate discounts when they pay their annual $40 membership fee. For example, car rental companies like Hertz, Avis & Budget each offer 25% discounts to NRA members. Federal Express gives NRA members a 26% discount on shipping charges. We cannot influence the NRA, but we can put pressure on corporate sponsors to divest from the NRA and make its membership less valuable. Already, we are seeing changes. For years, the First National Bank of Omaha offered the "official credit card of the NRA." On February 22, due to consumer pressure, they announced it was being discontinued.
