• President Trump: Free the Birds!
The Trump administration announced that it would reverse the rule that requires all organic egg farmers to give hens access to the outdoors. The net result of this is that birds will be confined in horrifying indoor sheds where trampling, disease, and even cannibalism run rampant --and the industry will be free to market their products as organic with "outdoor access."  We're asking the Trump administration to reverse this decision and support tree freedom for birds: an animal bill of rights!

  • Tell the Senate: block torture-loving Gina Haspel from taking over the CIA
I'm an U.S. Army veteran. I remember what happened at the Abu Ghraib prison -- where dozens of prisoners were beaten, tortured, or worse at the hands of our government. Some of my friends and fellow service members were actually a part of the team that shut the place down, so I'm well aware what that barbaric behavior does to a human being. Let me be clear: we can not rest so long as a torture-advocate like Gina Haspel has so much power over the CIA. Torture doesn't work. It's inhumane. Monstrous. Criminal. And not only does she actively advocate for it's use, but she carried out torture rings in Thailand then tried to cover it up! There is simply too much at stake to let Trump’s illegitimate regime further dismantle our diplomatic institutions. I know we can win this battle if we work together and take decisive action right away. This is what we’re made for.

  • Tell our Rep. George Holding to stop taking NRA money
89% of Americans want universal background checks. 67% want assault weapons banned from civilian ownership. We need common sense gun laws now to stop the carnage.

  • Sen. Fischer and Sasse: Stop Taking NRA Blood Money
We demand Nebraskan Senator Ben Sasse & Fischer donate their combined NRA contributions of $84,583 to fund gun safety work and commit to not taking another cent from the NRA. The NRA's financial hold on our Congress is overwhelming, and it is one of the primary reasons why, in the wake of national tragedies, we remain unable to pass commonsense gun laws. Enough is enough and the time to act is now. #NeverAgain

  • Demand Senators Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy give back or donate the combined $3,076,835 they ha...
I am from Louisiana, and I will not stand for my elected officials taking NRA contributions that prevent them from considering common sense gun laws. We have to start now. We are not asking that all guns be taken away form private citizens, but automatic and semi-automatic weapons have no place in our homes. They are weapons not used for hunting or self-defense, but are made for killing mass numbers of people. We need to hold our elected officials accountable for making gun violence in the U.S. a pervasive and devastating problem. Call and write your Senators and Representatives to ask that they return their NRA funds and pass legislation for gun regulation in the U.S. We need laws that ban assault weapons among private citizens and legislation that ensures we run background checks and have a proper registration system for owning guns. It is not against the second amendment to create a culture of responsible gun owners. Sign this petition and let’s show our Senators that there are Louisianan’s who desperately want gun reform.

  • Mayor Gettys: Outrageous Electric Bills
The people of Rock Hill are struggling to pay their outrageous electric bills. It is unconscionable and immoral to expect hard working individuals, most who live on limited incomes to afford electric bills that are 4 to 8 times the norm. Social responsibility is a key factor from an ethical standpoint lacking from our elected leadership. We demand a stop to this unethical business practice, and we demand a refund for over paid charges immediately.

  • Release Alejandra Pablos
Alejandra's case is complicated. As a young person she was arrested and convicted of several charges, including Driving Under the Influence and possession of drug paraphernalia, some of which were felonies under Arizona state law. In 2011, after she complied with the orders from the court, she spent 2 years at the Eloy Detention Center in Southern Arizona, lost her residency, and was placed in deportation proceedings. But since Alejandra was released from detention she has worked to advocate for human and civil rights, dedicating her life to organizing against the attacks on immigrant rights and fighting for reproductive rights. As part of her local organizing, in early January of this year, as Alejandra was leading chants at a peaceful protest in Virginia outside of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), she was singled out and detained by DHS agents. Although she was released, this flagged her case. When Alejandra showed up to her check-in with ICE in Tucson, she was taken into custody and not allowed to pay a bond. Alejandra is a nationally recognized immigrant rights and reproductive rights, activist. She works as a Field Coordinator for the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, where she organizes to raise the voices of Latinas in Virginia for policy change at all levels of government on issues that impact their lives, women’s health care, and other social justice issues. Alejandra has been a staunch advocate for immigration reform and mass incarceration. She is a member of Mijente, a national political Latinx organization, and has worked with many immigrant rights and prison abolition organizers throughout the country.
