• Tell Senate to Support Secure Elections Act S.2261
In 2016 Russia meddled in the Presidential election. Our intelligence agencies unanimously warn that Russia will meddle again in our midterm elections this November 6th, 2018. As many as 50 million people (25% of registered American voters) currently vote on electronic voting machines (DREs) that do not produce paper backups. DRE’s are still in use in 15 states, including the swing states of Georgia, Pennsylvania and Virginia, despite well documented concerns by cyber experts that these machines are vulnerable to hacking, malicious software, and glitches that could result in incorrectly recorded votes. And because they are paperless, there’s no way to check the accuracy of reported election results. All computer voting is subject to tampering, and although many voting machines do have paper ballots that could be audited, audits are expensive for states, difficult to secure, and therefore rarely used. How will we ever know that our votes are honestly counted? Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Kamala Harris (D-CA) introduced The Secure Elections Act (S.2261) on December 21st. It has bipartisan support and is co-sponsored by Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Susan Collins (R-ME), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Martin Heinrich (D-NM). This Bill helps us to trust our election counts by requiring automatic spot audits. Additionally: It eliminates paperless voting by returning to paper ballot back ups AND requires spot audits of machines to improve accountability and transparency in elections It requires the federal government to cover cost of recounts and audits to eliminate financial strain on local governments AND provides federal grant funds to modernize voting systems. It establishes "Bug bounties": lets federally contracted hackers in to election networks to search for vulnerabilities and offer cyber-security advice about where to focus limited resources It requires the federal government to build a catalog of cyber-security services that they can provide to state agencies. It calls for states, contractors, and vendors to notify the federal government and election agencies when their election systems are hacked or compromised. Mitch McConnell and the Senate leadership are ignoring this Bill. In fact, most Senators aren’t even familiar with its provisions or the importance of safeguarding elections at the local precinct and tallying level. Action Demand that Mitch McConnell and the Senate pass this bill (S.2261) and demand that we move toward more secure, verifiable elections now before midterm elections.

  • The Promise
Over 90% of Americans believe that there needs to be some legislation taken to reduce the number of mass shootings in this country. Yet nothing happens because of the strong hold the NRA has on our politicians. Let's stop the madness and start protecting our innocent children who so often are the targets of these military-style guns. Please take this promise with me: "I promise I will never vote for anyone who is taking contributions from the NRA." It's that simple. This is not a partisan issue. Unfortunately, Conservatives, Republicans, Independents, Democrats, and Liberals all take donations from the NRA and therefore refuse to represent the will of the people when it comes to common-sense gun laws. The 2nd Amendment is secure but the NRA uses it to promote fear for profit. It is in our power to send a message to Washington and cut the strings the NRA has on our government. Please sign, make an abiding promise and let's save lives.

  • Change The 2nd Amendment
Gun crime is out of control and the only way to get ahead of this is to change the 2nd Amendment. As it now stands, it is unconstitutional to require background checks and to demand mental health as a requirement to own a gun.

  • Metal detectors are needed for the safety of our children and staff members.
There have been several incidents this school year where students have brought deadly weapons into the middle and high schools in Hampton County. Even though those students were disciplined, we as parents believe that law enforcement can assist in tightening up on security to prevent weapons from entering the schools. We are asking that the Hampton School District One install walk-through metal detectors at the student entries as added security to help protect our children and staff members from senseless harm.

  • Greg Abbott : protect against school shooters
My top priority is to encourage U.S. residents to petition for action to be taken on the topic of school shootings to protect against the growing number of school shooters nationwide and to demand something be done about it. All these politicians are too worried about losing there support groups rather than helping. Man up please and get this under control, please for the sake of our helpless children. Thank you.

  • Gun Control. Today.
There have been 18 school shootings since the start of 2018. Too many students and staff have been victimized due to the lack of preparation and prevention. Trump asks what he can do. He can take the guns out of the hands of the shooter. Stop the violence.

  • Design-Build for the BQE
Should the New York State Legislature fail to pass this legislation this spring, the diversion of trucks onto local streets will have catastrophic impacts, imperiling the health and safety of Brooklyn residents, damaging the region’s economy, and costing taxpayers $113 million more to complete the project. Design-Build is the only means to forestall this situation. It is an approach being used on major public and private projects nationwide to save time and money. Moreover, eight New York State agencies are already using Design-Build, but New York State has to-date refused to allow the City to use this time and cost-saving project delivery approach. By signing the petition, you will send a message to the State legislature and the Governor that Design-Build authority needs to be enacted without further delay.

  • Congresswoman Stefanik: Ban Assault Weapons Now!
We represent Indivisible Lowville, a local grassroots group dedicated to progressive values. However, the undersigned include a variety of your constituents and not all of them belong to Indivisible. We, collectively, want common sense gun control that does not infringe on sport or hunting but takes away access to all military style weaponry. Many of us have school-aged children and it is clear that our schools are no longer a safe place for them to be. Please take action, Ms. Stefanik.

  • school safety
My name is Alexandra Rodriguez, I attend Felix Varela Senior high in Miami- Dade county and I am living in fear every day I attend school. Parents send their kids to school thinking their children will return home safely. Instead of spending money on unnecessary objects we should be spending money on more security guards, metal detectors, and more police men in every school. I believe many parents and citizens would like to donate money if it's to keep children safe.

  • Stop the NRA from buying our lawmakers.
It is about time that we pull the rug out from under the NRA and other pro-gun groups, and pass gun laws that protect our society and our children. Thoughts and prayers are not cutting it anymore! Like all the 80% of Americans who are in favor of stricter gun control laws, I am sick over the latest shooting, and totally done with the "thoughts and prayers" messages from do-nothing legislators! I know many organizations are working hard to prevent the next shooting, but without action by Congress and states to actually--gasp!--regulate and reduce access to these weapons, nothing will change. The NRA has unprecedented access to our lawmakers, and it constantly holds their feet to the fire to prevent passage of any reasonable gun laws. I would like to see petitions signed by all those 80% of us that say "I pledge not to vote for any lawmaker at any level of government who takes a single penny from the NRA or other pro-gun lobby groups." If Move-On can promote such a petition and also publish the names of the lawmakers that do and don't take these contributions, perhaps they will finally vote the way we want them to!
